MOSAICS

I adore mosaics - I have a mosaic table in my garden and have often fancied actually doing my own with the tiles but I've never got round to it. My son is an archaeologist and I always nag him to see if he's discovered a roman mosaic on his travels - but sadly not yet.  I used to volunteer at our local Iron Age Museum and there is a fabulous mosaic that was discovered not far from where I live depicting Mars the Roman god of war - it was discovered on the floor of a house about 5 miles away from where I live - it is over 2,000 years old.  An amazing piece of art and can't you just imagine ancient peoples sitting there patiently putting each piece in place.

The challenge over at As You See It is Mosaics.  My mosaic card is no-where near as detailed or fiddly.  I've used SU's Birthday Blooms which has been coloured in with Watercolour Pencils layered onto a black and grey background.

Very pretty, and a wonderful story about the mosaic! How cool!

I feel jealous of your nearness to Roman ruins, especially one that throws up such treasures. I do love this stamp set and I like your treatment of it. Thank you for joining us at As You See It challenge.

How cool to have an archaeologist in the family and to live so close to such ancient remains! In Canada, where I live ancient means 3 to 4 hundred years not over 2000 years! Love your treatment of the rose! So pretty. Thanks for playing along with As You See It!
