PRETTY KITTY - GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #GDP084

Pretty Kitty isn't a new set - but its new to me and I'm absolutely loving it.  I wasn't sure at first when I saw it but I just love colouring in the little kitties - they remind me of the cats from the Disney Aristocats - one of my favourites when I was growing up.  I'm so pleased that its continuing another year so I'll get lots of fun out of it.

The challenge over at Global Design Project is CASEing the Designer who is Michelle Last.  I am lucky enough to have Michelle as my upline's upline and to be part of her Pinkies team.  Here's her card for us to have a play with:

She did birds I did cats - never the twain shall meet!!! A bit of a poignant card for me really because my daughter has had one of her cats go missing.  He's a six year old chocolate Burmese and she's only had him less than a year as he was a rescue - he has a liver condition and he's been missing for nearly a week now and time seems to be running out for finding him.

I used the Stampin Write markers in the 2016/17 colours to colour in the flowers.  The Kitty was coloured in with our Watercolour pencils and a blender pen.  The Pot is coloured in with Pacific Point ink and the blender pen.  The little flowers have some basic rhinestones on them and of course a splash of Wink of Stella over the pot and the cat.

I took part of the saying and inked it with Pacific Point ink and left the last word off and add some dots.  The Thank You is from Thankful Thoughts.

I wrapped some of the Copper Metallic Thread around the card - just to finish it off.

Just in case you haven't seen all of this cute set -if you wish to purchase click on the image below

BOXES IN A BOX

I thought I'd have a play with some boxes this week and did a You Tube tutorial to show how they were made.  Really quite simple but very effective - and a nice suprise when the box is opened to see four more little boxes inside.  I used Birthday Blooms for the front and some of our retiring DSP.

 The sizes are as follows:

4 pieces of cardstock measuring 9 cm x 9 cm score at 2 cm (3.5", score at .5")

2 Pieces of cardstock measuring 12.2 cm x 12.2 cm score at 1 cm (4 3.4" score at 3/4")

1 piece of cardstock measuring 10 cm x 2 cm fold and score in the middle (4" x 1/2")
DSP - 9.5 cm x 9.5 cm (3 3/4" x 3 3/4")

SIMPLY SKETCHED SATURDAY CHALLENGE - BOOKCASE BUILDER

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you. The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*. Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

The lovely Heidi Smith designed our sketch this month and here it is:

I chose to use Bookcase Builder - I love this set and it hasn't got used a lot.  I was pleased to see it was going to continue in the new catalogue because I think it has lots of potential.

I used some of the retiring Falling In Love Designer Series Paper - once I'd got over the fact that I couldn't cut this paper its been lovely to use.  The hearts at the top were cut out with the Everyday Jar Framelits and a backing of Whisper White added.  I used the Stitched Framelits - my favourites.

I don't usually do baby cards as I have no-one to send them to so maybe this one will sit and wait in my box just in case.....

BEST BIRDS - YOU TUBE MINI SERIES

I love the Best Birds set - in fact birds have to be some of my favourite stamps and SU have done some lovely ones over the years.

I'm so pleased that this set is continuing in the new catalogue along with its framelits and I've done a little mini series of videos over the next few days showing lots of different ways to make cards using just this set!

This is tutorial no 1 and is one I recently put in for a challenge - I think it lends itself as a sympathy card as it is quite gentle.

Pop back over the next few days to see then next cards in the series - quick before they fly away!

And in case you didn't realise - this set is still offered as a bundle in the current catalogue but once the new catalogue comes out the bundle will be retiring although the sets will still be available.  So contact me now to get yours hands on a bundle before they do in fact fly away!

JAR OF LOVE

I was delighted to be chosen as one of the Top Three this week at Inkspirational Challenge for my little Picture Perfect card.  Proudly displaying my badge!

Their challenge this week is the following: Click on the image to be taken to the challenge Challenge #132

  http://inkspirationalchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/challenge-132-word-prompt-spring.html

I had a bit of a mix up with this challenge this week as the link actually took me to Watercolour Swooshing which I did then found I couldn't link it up as that was actually the week previous.  Anyway my card can still be considered a Spring card so I'm going to put it in anyway.

I had fun with this - getting inky and not as messy as I thought I would. I was surprised at the colours that came out - as I used quite dark colours and ended up with a realy pinky greeny colour!

I've used the lovely Jar of Love set and Framelits which is continuing into the new catalogue.  I love playing with this set and its so versatile for spring, summer autumn or winter cards.

Saying farewell to Papillon Potpourri and the Bitty Butterfly punch by just adding a small butterfly to my card.

Here you can see the colour combination that went into making the flowers for the jar.

The Challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday is also Spring so I'm going to add my card to their list also.

WETLANDS - SAD TO SEE YOU GO

I was sad to see the Wetlands stamps set on the retirement list as its been one of my favourites for male cards.  I thought I would just do a quick You Tube tutorial showcasing this stamp set one last time.  I've also used the last of my favourite Mint Macaron cardstock.

Here are two examples of the same style card just made with different papers and colours.  Isn't it amazing how you can get such a different look to a card.

Here's a YouTube tutorial if you want to have a go.

BEST BIRDS - WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE 114/ SUO CHALLENGE

It's a colour challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday this week -

Hmm - Calypso Coral is not a colour I use very often so a real challenge for me.
I've used the wonderful Best Birds and the Birds and Blooms framelits for my cards and what's even better about this set is its not retiring WooHoo!

Over at SUO Challenge - the theme is Sympathy and Caring. I think this gentle card would be very suitable for sending to someone who needs a hug.

I love the crackle stamp in this set as its great for backgrounds and looks so pretty with the Pool Party Ink.  The bird was coloured in with the Calypso Coral Watercolour pencil as I don't actually have the ink.

THANKFUL THOUGHTS - GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #082

I'm pleased that this set is staying for another year cause I've loved using it on my thank you cards.

The  challenge over at Global Design Project #082 this week is a sketch challenge.

I've used Thankful Thoughts for my card.  Sometimes sentiment stamps get left in the bottom of the cupboard or don't get used as the main attraction in their own right.  Here I've let it have star of the show!  I've used Succulent Garden Design Series Paper which we will be having to saying goodbye to and it is also a fond farewell to Watermelon Wonder. I liked this colour so I've used it here.  It looks big and bold and definitely has a statement to make!

There's a touch of the Copper Metallic Thread behind the sentiment which you can just see in the close up.  Some Enamel Dots finished off this simple card.

Thank you for stopping by my blog - please leave a comment so I know you've been to see me.

BEAUTIFUL YOU SAYS FAREWELL TO BOTANICAL BLOOMS

The retiring list is out and some of our favourite stamps are going - one of mine was Botanical Blooms so I've joined it here with Beautiful You.  This is a card I've done previously - I've just updated the colours and I've added a You Tube tutorial for you to follow.

I've used Daffodil Delight as the cardstock with some of the now retiring DSP paper stacks.  The woman's dress has been paper pieced using the DSP.

SLATTED EASTER BASKET - YOU TUBE TUTORIAL

I was looking for a large Easter Basket to make and came across these Slatted Baskets - big enough to put a decent size egg in or lots of other goodies.

You will need the following supplies:

Two pieces of 12" x 12" DSP - Matching papers are nice but not necessary.

with the first piece cut 6 of 1" x 11" strips.  Score at 3 1.5" at both ends of the strips.

Cut one piece of 1 1/2" x 12" for the handle.

The other piece of 12 x 12 - score at

3/4", 4", 8" and 11 1/4"
rotate a 1/4 turn and repeat scoring.

I'd recommend you watch the video below to see the cutting - its easier than trying to describe it on here.

I'd love to know if you make any - do pop back and let me know.

LOVE AND AFFECTION PANEL CARD - GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #081

I'm loving the Love and Affection (no pun intended) stamp set that I've just rediscovered.  I found it in the bottom or my drawer when I was sorting out my stamp sets.  I don't have a huge range of sets so there was really no excuse to have forgotten this little beauty.

The challenge over at Global Design Project #081 is a Colour Challenge.

I don't find myself using Night of Navy much even though I love the colour so this was a great challenge for me. I decided to do another panel card - you will find the You Tube tutorial for my panel card at the bottom of this post.

I used some of the lovely Designer Series Paper Stack in Regals for the DSP for my card and used the flower side rather than the stripes to go with the Love and Affection set.  I stamped the flower on to Crumb Cake as my third colour choice.  It was stamped in Night of Navy and clear embossed to make it pop a bit more.  I added a Basic Pearl just to finish it off.

BOOKCASE BUILDER MEETS PAINTER'S PALETTE

I do love this little set from Stampin' Up! and I'm surprised it hasn't been flooding the internet with examples.  I think its one of those slow burner sets that people will get to know over time - I hope it stays around for the next year.  Even if you don't use the bookcase shelves there are loads of images to play with for lots of occasions.

The challenge over at Inkspirational Challenge#131 this week is a picture challenge - very Alice in Wonderland. I really had to put my thinking head on for this one.

I've used Painter's Palette and that wonderful easel to make my image into a painting.  I've included the books, a plant and the lamp as inspiration from the picture.  The lamp has Wink of Stella all over it .... naturally.  The Cherry Cobbler cardstock was run through the Falling Petals embossing folder to give the hearts, which you can just see are dotted around the table in the main picture.

The sentiment is from Project Live Remember This. It's a retired set but I love the Project Life for adding great sentiments to cards.
