A mix up challenge today from Try Stampin on Tuesday #TSOT399

I don't have any cactus stamps but chose to use the colours shown to make my card.  I used this set of what I like to think of a folk art images - inspired by that bowl of succulents with all the lovely colours.

I'm still on the fence about investing in some copic markers for colouring but I think I may just have to try a few and see what I think - as the more I do colouring the more I think I'd like to get some!!





 

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY - SKETCH CHALLENGE #398

We have a sketch challenge for you over at Try Stampin on Tuesday #398 - with the added option of Monochromatic if you're feeling extra brave!

I had this stamp set from Clearly Besotted that I had yet to ink up.  It's not often that I have uninked stamps - I don't have hundreds and do tend to use them as soon as I get them but somehow this little one had yet to be used.  Cupcakes are not really my thing - especially as being gluten and dairy free I rarely get to eat them - but I just adored this little set and I thought it would be perfect for this sketch.

I used a Stitched Framelit for the circles and used SU Very Vanilla - the hippos were coloured in with SU water colour pencil in Grey.  The cupcakes were coloured in with my new Tri Blend spectrum pens from Spectrum Noir.  I'm still not sure about these - with three blending colours in one pen they are a bargain compared to Copics but I'm still unconvinced about the blending ability to see the three separate colours.  Maybe I need more practice.  

The background papers were some from my stash from Docrafts - a really lovely selection that I will be using lots.  I added some ribbon at the bottom and a few little pearls.  I also added some Glossy Accents to the top icing on the cupcakes to make them shine.

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY #391

We have a double challenge for you today at Try Stampin on Tuesday

Use the Technique of Mixing up your Fonts and/ or using the sketch.  I chose to try both.

I started off with some Whisper White card stock from SU and masked off a centre panel.  I then used two Tim Holtz Distress inks - Bundled Sage and Picked Raspberry and Soft Sky from SU and sponged them onto the white card.  The set I've used is an old retired SU set called Fresh Vintage which I haven't used in such a long time - it always seems strange now using wooden stamps instead of the cling or rubber - do you find that?  In fact in some ways it's much easier - I didn't need to hunt for a block.  I used Versamark to stamp the medallion type stamp and then used some of SU's copper embossing powder which really makes it stand out against the pale inks.

I actually cheated with mixing up my fonts and used another retired SU set called Yay You.  This sentiment was already in this set - all mixed up - all I did was cut it up into three different parts.  I added it to a piece of Soft Sky card stock which had been cut using a stitched framelit.  The little flowers are also from the same stamp set - I embossed them in the Bronze onto some dark red card stock and cut them out and added them with dimensionals.

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY - SKETCH CHALLENGE

Well the New Year is fast approaching - I always get a little sentimental and nostalgic at New Year. This year it is a quiet one with hubby and I are on our own. I hope 2019 is a great year for your all - I know I'm going to be very busy with the challenge blogs. My own one for my Joy of Set's Facebook group starts on 5th January so I hope you will look out for it and come and play along.

Our challenge for Try Stampin on Tuesday is a sketch challenge with the option of Happy Birthday.  Phew a non Christmas Card but fear not - the Christmas stamps are not going away thanks to the Sparkles Design Team I'm part of which is carrying Christmas through our hearts the whole year through.

But for now I've used a Stampin Up Set Watercolour Wings and it's matching thinlet.  I've used some Kaisercraft paper for the background and sponged some retired SU More Mustard ink on the edges.  The ribbon behind the Butterfly is non SU.  I used three ink colours for the butterfly - Mint Macaron, Tempting Turqoise and Bermuda Bay.  The little butterfly was cut out with an old SU punch.

There just remains one more thing for me to say and that is 

HAPPY NEW YEAR 

 

TRY STAMPING ON TUESDAY - SKETCH

We have a sketch for you today over at Try Stamping on Tuesday - #TSOT387.




I started my card with some Kaisercraft background papers from their Wonderland collection - cut and pasted onto some silver cardstock.  The jar is from Stampin Up Jar of Love.  The stamps for the snow scene are from Hero Arts Winter Scene.  I've added glitter and snow in the jar to make it sparkle and some sparkly twine around the top.

The sentiment is from the same Hero Arts set and has been embossed in Silver Embossing Powder.  The little trees were punched out with a punch in the same silver cardstock.

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY - SKETCH #TSOT386

We have a sketch for you over at Try Stampin on Tuesday for you this week. 







I've used some gorgeous Christmas Papers called Festive Chalkboard by Craftwork Cards.  I then used a Stampin Up Stitched framelit to make the circle and heat embossed some images from a small little stamp set I had in my stash.  I embossed them in Silver and then coloured them in with marker pens. I attached it all to a silver doily and added a small die cut silver snowflake in the top corner.  Grey is a very unusual colour for me to work with but I thought it complimented that chalkboard paper.

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY #TSOT384

We have a sketch for you today over at Try Stampin On Tuesday





I turned the image around and went with a non Christmas card for my card.  I've used the lovely SU stamp set Wetlands.  The paper was run through an old crimping machine I have to give the effect of the water.  Versamark was used on the cardstock to emboss it with the stamped image.

The tag is from an SU punch and there is a touch of sponging on the edges to soften it.


 

TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY - DOUBLE TROUBLE BLOG - TIC TAC TOE

We are joining forces at Try Stampin' on Tuesday with Double Trouble challenge blog - this time it's a Tic Tac Toe challenge - I love these - they offer so many possibilities.




They've also given another twist - include anything on your project that hangs - stockings, garland, ornaments, lights, candles, etc. 


I chose to do a Diorama card for mine.  This is something I haven't done before. I chose to do the bottom line of Stamping, Red and Plaid.

The reindeer, dove and little Christmas stocking were all from the same little die set I had in my stash.  The plaid paper is from current Stampin Up DSP and the sentiment is from an old SU set Winter Post.  The beauty of this little card is that it still folds flat so you can post it!








 

TRY STAMPING ON TUESDAY #TSOT382 - SKETCH

A sketch today to play with for Try Stamping On Tuesday  #TSOT382 with the added challenge of adding Die Cuts.





I've used an old SU set here called A Nice Cuppa and added the die cuts of the teapot and the milk jug.  I cut a little bit off the jug to turn it into a mug.  I've used some of the new DSP papers from SU called Share What You Love.  There is another little piece of the paper just behind the teapot where the cut outs are - can you see it peeping through?

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY - SKETCH

We have a sketch for you to play along with at Try Stampin on Tuesday #TSOT381. I've taken a Christmas set from Stampin Up and turned it into a masculine card.  It gives you the idea that with a few tweaks Christmas cards don't always have to mean Christmas themes.  



Here I've taken the lovely deer from Merry Little Labels and using marker pens turned it into a birthday tag.  The sentiment is non SU.  I used some of the Wood Textures DSP and some retired ribbon keeping in line with the masculine feel.

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY - SKETCH CHALLENGE #TSOT379

We have a sketch for you to work with at Try Stampin on Tuesday #TSOT379 this week.  The Sketch also has an optional theme of Fall Favourites.




I used a lovely little stamp set from a British company called Clearly Besotted - they do some lovely stamps and matching die cuts and at such great value too.  No I'm not affiliated with them in any way lol!The set I've used is called Thanks a Bouquet and has matching die cuts.

I've used some papers from Kaisercraft - from their  6.5" paperpad called Take Note.  I thought these look like autumn colours and I've kept the flowers in the autumn oranges and gold colours of autumn.

The flowers were inked up with some old SU inks of More Mustard and Really Rust with a touch of Pumpkin Pie.  The little ribbon is just some I had in my stash.  I love the sentiment that comes with this set too.

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY #378 - SKETCH

Our challenge this week over at Try Stampin on Tuesday #378 is a Sketch with the option of the theme of School Days. We are also pairing up with Double Trouble Challenge Blog and here are their details:

   Trouble Maker is celebrating "School Days". Whether you have a preschooler or you have been out of school for years, September always brings to mind the sound of the school bell. Use a theme showing teacher appreciation or reminders of school days. Twisted Sister challenges you to stay out of detention and include a bookmark or tag that your card recipient can remove and use. This twist is optional.




So in total you have a sketch, a theme and the option of adding a bookmark or tag.  Well I was definitely up for the challenge.  The only set I thought I could use was the retired SU Apple of My Eye - well apples are for teachers are they not?  I'd love to know where that idea originated!


I used a piece of SU Designer Series Paper for one of my side panels, the other I stamped some of the leaves from the set in SU Pear Pizazz.  I added a stitched framelit of the DSP for the back of my apple and stamped the image and the words on another stitched framelit.  The leaves and stalk were cut out and inked in SU Tranquil Tide and finished off with Wink of Stella.  I used some of the lovely SU Satin ribbon and a diamond embellishment to finish off my card.  Inside the card is a bookmark,  which easily slides off the card ready to be attached to a book.

The sentiment inside is from another old SU set Build A Bouquet - well maybe the teachers are not quite so happy to be back after their break!






 

ANOTHER TUESDAY - ANOTHER NEW DESIGN TEAM

Did you spot the image?  I'm super excited to announce I am now part of the fabulous design team at Try Stampin On Tuesday challenge blog run by Kaylin Krawczyk.  Tuesday definitely seems to be my day!  My first challenge for them is a colour challenge - yummy colours don't you think?




I tried a couple of cards but just wasn't very happy with the results and then had a Eureka moment and decided to get sponging.  I used some SU colours for my inks - Mint Macaron, Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo.  I used a Tim Holtz sponge dauber to ink my background papers in stripes and also an extra bit which was cut out using SU Stitched Framelits.  The image of the girl is from SU Beautiful You - I've used the Flirty Flamingo marker pen to ink up her dress and a touch of Wink of Stella to add some sheen.  I added a Pearlized Doily cut in half behind the image.  The tag is cut from an old tag punch I have and I've added a little heart brad.

I hope you agree my card looks as though this girl is having lots of fun and the sentiment fits just right.

BUTTERFLIES - IN THIS WORLD

I'm using this new set I've got my hands on again - I always seem to love sets once they retire - what does that say about me? I'm behind the times maybe!  

My cardstock base is one of the new colours from SU - I think it's called Pineapple Punch.  I've used some of the new DSP Share What You Love which has been torn and inked as a background. I've also used SU Kinda Eclectic - another retired stamp set.  I've stamped the large sun from this set behind the butterfly and a retired butterfly punch to punch out the mini butterfly.  The sentiment is from a very old SU set - I'm not sure of its name.

There is a touch of the Copper Thread behind the butterfly and some new twine.

ALL THINGS WILD

A few cards from me today for a number of challenges.  The first are Butterflies Stampin on Tuesday challenge has a sketch challenge with the option of Butterflies  


I've gone for purple - not a colour I usually use - I've also used some old SU DSP for the background.  I've used Kinda Eclectic, Jar of Love and Beautiful You and some butterfly punches.

My next card is for a Facebook Goup called Colour Inkspiration #C132 - they gave us the following image and colours for our inspiration.

I've gone with Kinda Eclectic again but a completely different style.  I've added some of the sequins to the butterfly also - I find those sequins quite tricky to use so any chance to get them on there and I'll have a go.

My final card is for Time Out challenge and their word for this week is WILD.  I'm also including this in Try It On Tuesday for their challenge Nature's Beauty.

I went back to an old SU set - Autumn Days and the pheasant which I have inked up a lot over its life time.  It's always a great go to for male cards too.  I've used Watercolour Paper here and colour washed it with Crushed Curry, Crumb Cake and Always Artichoke.  

The pheasant was embossed in Gold Embossing powder and coloured in with SU marker pens.  The grasses are from the same set.  The sun is from Kinda Eclectic.  The Love sentiment is an old SU script stamp and was embossed in old SU Maize embossing powder.  Some ribbon and some coloured enamel dots finish off this card.
