TRY IT ON TUESDAY - GUEST DESIGNER

I was delighted to be asked to be a Guest Designer at Try It On Tuesday for this week's challenge of Winter Blues.  Personally I'm not feeling the January blues as I've just become a grandma for the second time - my darling daughter had a bouncing baby boy on Wednesday amidst all the snow we had in the UK.  His name is Rowan Luke and completes her family now with her daughter Hazel.  Considering my daughter, like me, was told she would not have any children she has done marvellously.

Anyway on to my card.  I masked off a space on some cardstock and used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink in Salty Ocean.  I spritzed it with some water to allow some of the white to show through.  I used the Poppy Seedheads stamp from Tracy Evans stamping it in Versafine Clair Medieval Blue.  I edged the card with some blue and layered it on to a white background.  The sentiments are from a Creative Expressions set Missy Mouse - I love that Oh Hi sentiment - I can see a lot of use for that.  I added some silver thread behind the Happy Birthday and popped it up on dimensionals.  A touch of sequins from my stash finished off the card.

TRY IT ON TUESDAY - GUEST DESIGNER

I'm delighted to be a Guest Designer over at Try It On Tuesday this week.  Their challenge is to use Book Papers in your project.  I have a little book just for this purpose - Hubby was horrified when he saw I'd bought it just to rip it up.  One of our favourite places is Rome and we first went there nearly 20 years ago for a surprise birthday present for hubby's 40th.  Next year is his 60th Eek - where do the years go?  And Covid willing we would love to go back to celebrate again.  This is the little book I use when I'm using book pages -hence the Rome story for you.

As I was using this book and Rome was definitely on my mind I chose to do a Travel Tag for my project.  I cut out a tag out of some card stock and first stuck some of the pages from the book - you can see them on the very top right and bottom left.

I've used lots of Tim Holtz Distress Inks here together with some of his stencils and quotes and ephemera.  I've also used some of Stampin Up's retired Postage Due set for the little stamps.  The mosaic style frame is one I've had for years in my stash - I knew it would come in handy one day! The picture of the woman is from Tim Holtz ephemera and I 've named her Ruth!   I added some buttons and some jute to keep the vintage style look. I edged around the tag with some TH Distress Crayons.  The ribbons are all from my stash.

CHRISTMAS BONUS

I had a nice start to my Christmas Festivities by finding out I had been published in a UK Craft Magazine - Craft Stamper.

My card used the Winter Woods stamp set from SU with the trees embossed in white embossing powder onto Soft Suede card stock.  I added white ink at the bottom for the snow drifts and the same for the snow.

I'm adding this into the following challenges:

Merry Little Christmas Challenge which is Anything Goes.

Allsorts Challenge - Anything Goes

Inkspirational - Christmas Tree

Sunday Stamps - Neutrals

Watercooler Wednesday - Anything Goes

Christmas Challenge Blog - Anything Goes

I was also thrilled to see I had been featured in Try it On Tuesday's spotlight for the year 2018/2019 for my Tim Holtz Bird Talk card - what a lot of work for the Design Team that must have been and such a lovely idea.
