TOTALLY TREES, LOVELY STITCHING, DANEBURY IRON AGE HILL FORT

HA! I bet that heading made you look twice - not often you see an Iron Age hill fort on a crafting blog.  But I thought I would share some pictures with you.

I'm lucky enough to live near one of the most important Iron Age Hill Forts in my area in Hampshire, UK, called Danebury.  Its a lovely place to walk my dogs and the views are wonderful.  You can see why they built their fort though thousands of years ago.  Its also a very peaceful place.

I love trees, especially Yew trees and there are some magnificent samples at Danebury. Here are my dogs around one particularly wonderful Yew Tree.

There are even wild ponies on the fort.

It got me thinking of making a tree card when I got back home so I turned to Totally Trees for some inspiration.

I've used Island Indigo cardstock and ink and a gatefold card (I think that's what it's called) which I had left over from making some of the mice cards at Christmas.  I've added some Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper which looks a bit like leaves I think.

The image was stamped with Island Indigo Ink and then double stamped with the detailed image in Versamark and embossed with our goreous Copper Embossing Powder.  I've also added some of our Copper Metalic Thread around the cardstock.

If you can see I've used the square Stitched Framelit but turned it into a rectangle thanks to Dawn Griffith's instructions.

I used the Lovely Stitching for the sentiments and also embossed them in the Copper Embossing Powder.  I've used one of the Banner Framelits to cut out the smaller sentiment.  Popped onto dimensionals just left of the tree it helps to keep the card closed.

I love the look of this copper on the Island Indigo - I can see I'm going to be doing this a lot!

As always all products can be purchased from me if you are in the UK.  Just click on the logo below to be taken to my store.

LOVELY STITCHING

I'm taking a quick break from Christmas related products - it won't be for long though I promise, and joining in with Addicted to CAS this week with a set I've not used much yet.  At £15 for 16 Polymer Stamps its a real bargain and I bet it gets overlooked in the SU catalogue for its showier cousins.

It was perfect for the challenge this week which is Stitched and this set is called Lovely Stitching. Click on the logo below to be taken to the challenge.

As this is a Clean and Simple challenge and they like a lot of white space and not many embellishments I hope this card isn't too busy.  The addition of the enamel dots proved a necessity to cover a blemish from the ink - don't you hate it when that happens!

I've used Rich Razzleberry for the cardstock base and the darker ink, an old SU colour Regal Rose for the pink and Pear Pizzazz for the green.  I love the stitched sentiment especially.

Normal service will be resumed tomorrow with a Christmas example of an Origami box using 6x6 paper

LOVELY STITCHING

I'm taking a break from the Christmas stamps - yes honest - to have a go with another new stamp set I've purchased - Lovely Stitching.  At only £15 for 16 stamps this set is a real bargain and such a versatile set.  I haven't seen many examples of it yet in blogland so I think it needs a bit of TLC.

Global Design Project this week have set a colour challenge: Click on the image to be taken to their site.

 http://www.global-design-project.com/

This is a good challenge for me as I have all of the colours - this isn't always the case - even for an SU Demo!

I've used all the colours in the inks as well as the cardstock and a touch of the Flirty Flamingo in that gorgeous Ruched Ribbon.

The Thank You sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts. Quite a simple gentle card and I'm pleased with it for my first play with this set.

GREETINGS FROM SANTA!!!

Yes you did read that right and I know - apologies are needed for doing a Christmas card in August but I'm enjoying playing with the Christmas stamps from the new catalogue.

I'm joining in with the new CASe this Sketch challenge this week - the trouble with CAS is I always feel I should put more on the card and I know that's not what I'm supposed to do but they look so bare.

That was the feeling I had with this card - I had to physically stop myself from adding some embellishments, or ribbon, or bells, or twine or anything!

The colours I've used are Pear Pizzazz and Real Red.  I used some of the stamps from the Lovely Stitching set to give this a folk style feel to the card.  The Christmas stamps are from the Greetings from Santa set.  And that's it - gulp!
