POCKET TAGS

I recently purchased some downloadable papers from Etsy - something I've not done before and it was really simple.  I purchased some of the lovely bird papers from Sam Poole.  I used to create with Sam's stamps and dies when I was on the Creative Expressions Design Team.  Now that they have closed I don't think Sam is producing any more stamps but she is creating papers.  She is also running a challenge over on Instagram to create tag used with some of her papers.

This one is a pocket tag - the main tag was just cut out of some cardboard from that well know shop we all seem to have to use!  At least some of it is being recycled lol!  I added her papers to the background but also added some old book page.  I created a pocket from the bird pictures and added to extra little tags.  The larger egg is from Tim Holtz stamp set Bird Feather but everything else is from Sam Poole.

I found the little paper flowers in my stash and added some pearls.  The little button die cuts are also from Sam from years ago.

CREATIVE ARTISTE MIXED MEDIA - #127

Back to another month's creativity with Creative Artiste Mixed Media challenge - As a gentle reminder to be considered as one of our monthly winners you must use at least 3 different mediums on your project.

I'm sharing another one of my tags from my tag book.  I think I may nearly be finished - I have completed 8 tags which is 16 sides and it's all looking quite bulky now - I do have 2 spare tags but I'm not sure whether to add them to the book. Once I'm finished I will show you all the tags complete.

I always add some white Gesso to the base of the tags - even though they are a thick kraft card I need to know it can cope with all the extra mediums I'm going to throw at it.

I added some Paper Artsy paint in Seaglass  and then went over it with some Texture Paste and a stencil.  I added some stamping from Alison Bomber and Bipasha BK from Aallandcreate in Versafine Pinecone.

I die cut some of Tim Holtz Funky Nature dies and inked them in Ground Espresso.  The butterfly is a free paper from Shawn Petite and I added some extra stamping to her wings.  I cut her on to some harder cardstock to give her some more strength and added some cheesecloth under her antennae.  There are extra papers and stamping underneath and then I used a sentiment from Craft-0-Clock which is just perfect for me as I tend to look back not forward.

I'm adding this into the following:

Paper Rocks Scissors - used everything bar rocks!
Allsorts - from the garden
Tag Along - text added to the butterflies wings and the ribbon beneath

INSPIRATION STATION #85

We are back with another inspirational photo for you from Inspiration Station.  How will you be inspired by this?  I was inspired by the colours of the red and blue and also the idea that these people have finished their studies and are off out into the world.  I know this happens in May in the US but doesn't really happen in the UK until July which is when our schools and universities finish for the summer.

I chose to create a tag using one of Tim Holtz die cuts to create the tag which gives a nice big tag to work on.  I started off by painting red and blue stripes with a paint brush with some Tim Holtz paint direct to the tag. I also added some strips of washi tape in red and white.  I then added some extra stamping from Bipasha BK for Aallandcreate - I liked the words which I thought really fit the theme.

I then had a look through my Tim Holtz paper dolls and found these three ladies who looked as though they were just about to embark on something exciting and I found the perfect sentiment from Tim's quote book.  I added some ephemera pieces too which fit the theme. I added some cheesecloth behind the image to add some extra texture and I hand drew a stitch line around the edge of the tape as I really can't sew!

LOVE TO CRAFT - #92

Here we are ready for another challenge at Love to Craft.  I'm sharing another tag from my tag book which I am currently working on with the theme of butterflies.  It has all the elements which I love to play with as a big Mixed Media fan.  You will see other examples of my book on my blog as I share some of them for other challenge groups I'm part of.

This one has used the Paper Artsy paint again in Snowflake and Seaglass.   I then added extra stamping by Alison Bomber and Creative Expressions. I have a lovely old set by CE which has signatures on it and I've used one of them here as part of the ephemera.  I cut out the lovely butterfly which is part of a free set by Shawn Petite and added it to some ephemera.  I stamped some linen and added it to the bottom of the tag.  The little tag sentiment is by Bipasha BK for Aallandcreate.

MOVING ALONG WITH THE TIMES #189 - ONE OR MORE BUTTERFLIES

Welcome back to another challenge at Moving Along With the Times and we are on butterflies this month. I'm back in my usual happy place of mixed media for this one.

I am currently working on a large tag book on the theme of butterflies so thought I would share one of my tags.

It has background stamping with stamps by Alison Bomber and Tracy Evans.  I've added some stamped linen and attached a Tim Holtz Ideaology Butterfly to the material.  There is extra stamping from Creative Expressions set Butterfly Walk by Sam Poole.  I cut out the words No Regret for the top tag from an old dictionary.

LOVE TO CRAFT - ANYTHING GOES

Welcome back to another Love to Craft - and we look forward to seeing all your wonderful creations.

It's another tag from me - I was lucky to win a set of Tag Dies from Brenda's new Tag Challenge so I just have to put them to good use.

It's another play with the gel press for me for this tag and the background was created with an Aallandcreate Stencil - this was the residue of ink left on the stencil after the press on the gel press and just stamped off onto to some extra paper so as not to lose the ink.  You can just see the faint blue marks.  I then added some background stamping and the star of the show - the poppy stamps - are from Tracy Evans - one of her old sets.  Alison Bomber of W0rdsandp1ctures has inspired me to use real flowers on my work so these poppy seeds are from the Welsh poppies in my garden.

As well as gluing them on I fixed them with some twine and a touch of linen which has been stapled.  I then added the word Nature to hide the staples.  I added a butterfly which had been created out of a mood board - a play time of adding stamping and colours and then cutting out shapes - great fun. The sentiment came from Tim Holtz Ideaology snippets book.

MOVING ALONG WITH THE TIMES CHALLENGE BLOG DESIGN TEAM MEMBER

I'm delighted to be on another Challenge Blog as Design Team Member under the brilliant supervision of Helen Nile - welcome to Moving Along with the Times which Helen has recently taken charge of.  Our theme for this month of September is Butterflies and/or Dragonflies.

My Tag started off on the gel press with a print taken from a fern taken from my garden.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Paint on the press to get a faint impression. I then added extra stamping in the background.  The butterflies are all from Tim Holtz Scribbly Butterflies dies which were cut from another gel press playtime using Tim Holtz inks.

I added various stamping and ephemera and added some to some linen which was affixed with some brass brads - remember those?  I finished off the tag by scribbling around the edge as I can't sew.

INSPIRATION STATION - APRIL

Welcome back to another challenge from Inspiration Station. I was inspired by the globe in our picture to create this mixed media tag using stamps by Bipasha BK from Aallandcreate.

I used a stencil from Tim Holtz and some texture paste to create some of the background.  Lots of grungy inks and stamping to go with the great images which I stamped on tissue paper.  This allowed the globe and phone image to be seen rather than cutting them out.

UNDER THE SEA

I'm playing along with Retro Rubber challenge this week and they have a Tic Tac Toe grid to play with.  I chose the middle row of pattern paper, the ocean, and texture.

I started off my tag by using some cardboard paper from a box and distressed the edges.  I added a few coats of white Gesso and then added some inks from Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Weathered Wood, Speckled Egg and Liquitex Acrylic Ink in Turquoise Deep.  I added some white acrylic paint to the edges.

Once it was dry I added some Tim Holtz Crackle Texture paste using a circle stencil.  I stamped on the images from an old set of stamps by Kaisercraft called Mermaid Tails.  Sadly there is no mermaid image in the set which would have been nice.  I stamped some of the stamps onto some Kaisercraft patterened paper called Beach Shack and added some of the matching stickers at the bottom.

he words are cut out of an old dictionary.  I coloured some ribbon with Distress Ink in matching colours.

I'm also adding this into the following challenges

MIXED MEDIA TAG

I've only recently discovered Chocolate Baroque stamps and have loved playing with the ones I got.  This one is called Mushroom House and is a great one for water colouring.

I started out by cutting out my tag using a Tim Holtz Tag die out of water colour card stock.  I inked it in Distress Ink Weathered Wood and added Black Soot with the TH wood stencil - and I added some script writing in the same ink.

The mushroom house was inked in Black Archival by Ranger.  I added colour with Distress Inks and Crayons and an aqua pen using Frayed Burlap, Festive Berries, Barn Door, Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw and Hickory Smoke.  I cut out the image and layered it onto the tag with some Liquitex Mat Gel.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and this was inked in Ranger Archival in Vermillon and cut out with some deckle scissors.

I'm adding this into the following challenges:

Creative Fingers - Anything Goes
Lil Red Wagon - Tag You're It
More Mixed Media - include Red

I'm delighted that my tag was chosen as one of the top 3 in My Time To Craft

JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - HARVEST TIME

Autumn is my favourite time of the year so I was delighted that Angie McKenzie chose this as our theme for our Joy of Sets Blog Hop this month.

I've used a Stampin Up set here called Country Home - still current and such a lovely set - I'm so glad I got it - I love that milk churn.  I have a few ornamental ones in my garden.  I stamped the churn and the flowers first and then masked them off whilst I turned ot the rest of the tag.

I used the Distress Ink colours shown in the picture - mixing until I was happy with the effect - I also added a touch of Mustard Seed.  I added some TH Distress Crackle paste which had been coloured with Walnut Stain and added with a Tim Holtz dot stencil. I used various TH stencils to add interest to the background including a splatter stencil, letter stencils and a Stampers Anonymous script stamp.  The flowers in the churn were also coloured in with the distress inks. I used the SU blender pens in Grey to colour in the churn.  I used the tiny TH letter dies to make the word thanks.  The quotes are from Tim Holtz Idealogy sticker book and the lower sentiment is a stamp from Visible Image.

JOY OF SETS TIC TAC TOE #JOSTTT022

Welcome to another month's Tic Tac Toe Grid from The Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe.

Our new Design Team member Beverly Cole has chosen our grid for us this month - what a beauty - I hope you have fun with this one. I chose to do a Christmas Tag for my project and had great fun making this one - I chose Ribbon, Window, Glitter.

I started off with a Tim Holtz tag and added a layer of TH Collage medium and Dina Wakley Gesso to add texture.  I then covered the tag with some Distress Crayons in Hickory Smoke, Vintage Photo - I used a TH stencil to remove some of the crayons with a wipe to leave some white parts.  The window is an old TH die and it was given the aged look with the Distress Crayons and some Gesso for snow.

The numbers and letters are TH dies.  The stars at the bottom is a TH 3d Impresslits folder - I love the way these emboss and cut out at the same time.  There is lots of glitter on the tag but I'm not sure it's showing up here. The ribbons were from my stash - black lace and grey satin ribbon.
