Simon Says Stamp Make Your Own Background

Simon Says..... Make Your Own Background - I'm joining in with the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge today as it inspired me to get the inks out and get messy.  It was one of those days where I sat at my desk and couldn't get motivated and then I found this so after a few torn up sheets I wasn't happy with I finally got something I liked.

Browsing my challenges I also popped into the Library Challenge and saw their challenge for Peter Pan.  Now I have a tale to tell here if you fancy reading.  When I was 11 I starred (yes starred) in a local youth show of Peter Pan and I made my singing debut as Wendy.  There I was singing my heart out in the harness flying on the stage bashing into scenery but still carried on singing.  I went on to sing on stage in later life but then it turned to Opera but I will always fondly remember my first real role and Peter Pan has always had a place in my heart.  The sentiment I've used on my card from Visible Image stamps captures Peter Pan completely.

I started off with some Distress Oxide Inks in Chipped Sapphire, Fossilized Amber and Salty Ocean.  I added them to a craft sheet and then spritzed with the Distress Sprayer until I got the colours I wanted.  I gave them a little helping hand with my heat tool as I'm not that patient.  I did an extra bit ready for the butterfly.

I then used a Tim Holtz word stencil and some Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink and a circle stencil I have with some Tattered Rose Distress Ink.  I added one of the word stamps from Visible Image called Imagine, Dream Inspire - I used the dream one on the background as well as on the cut out for the butterfly.  The lovely toadstools are from Kaisercraft Stamps called Enchanted and I inked them with Ranger Archival Ink in Vermillion - one of my favourite red colours!  I coloured in the stalks with a touch of Tattered Rose and an aqua painter.

I used one of the grass stamps from SU Waterfront and High Tide to make the grasses at the bottom of the toadstools and the little butterflies are from a Special Someone by SU.  The Life sentiment is from Kaisercraft Enchanted.  I then used one of the Tim Holtz Scribble Butterfly thinlets to cut out the butterfly and added it with dimensionals.  I added a touch of Wink of Stella and some Nuovo drops on the card and the butterfly.

I'm adding this into the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp - Make your own background
The Library Challenge - Peter Pan
Little Red Wagon - Create your own background
Arty Divas - Anything Goes
Artistic Stamper  Retro
Stamps & Fun - Nature or flowers
