The challenge over at Tic Tac Toe this week gives us lots of options as usual. I was inspired by the bottom row of Yellow, Stripes, Thanks.
Yellow is not always my go-to colour so I decided to challenge myself and as I've been playing with the Ombre inking technique I thought I'd make the stripes myself. I used post it notes again and used three Yellows from Stampin Up - a retired More Mustard and Summer Sun and current ink Daffodil Daylight. I also used the More Mustard to stamp the lovely big sun stamp that comes with Kinda Eclectic. The sentiment was inked in Basic Black and comes from SU Thankful Thoughts. I used the butterfly punch for the butterlies and also the bold butterfly thinlets and some of the Color Theory DSP.
The thank you was colour washed with Wink of Stella and a touch of non SU thread tied around to finish off the card.
Quite a simple layout which you would expect from a CAS challenge but with a wealth of possibilities - my problem with the CAS cards is knowing when to stop. I know it says lots of space and few embellishments but I thought my card needed just a tiny bit of bling! I've been doing a few purple cards this week as its Epilepsy Awareness week in the UK and my gorgeous daughter suffers with this hateful condition. Maybe this was on my mind when I reached out for the purple yet again.
I've used some SU DSP from Delightful Daisy - I'm slowly running out of my DSP and using it all sparingly. I used the Butterfly framelits to cut out the butterfly out of the DSP and a little butterfly punch I had for the small one. I'm not sure it shows up on the small one but it also has a layer of vellum on top. I love the sentiment in this set so have used it here, cutting it out with the stitched framelits - I think this card will be winging its way to my daughter for a "Just Because" card.
Thanks for stopping by my blog - I appreciate you being here and love to read your comments.
We are into another challenge over at Joy of Sets Challenge blog and this time we are working with the letter 'W'.
This was an easy choice for me - I only have one set with the letter 'W' which is Watercolor Wings. I decided to do another squashed card - this one is slightly bigger at 8" x 8". I've used the DSP from Delightful Daisy and the Bold Butterfly framelits for the butterfly. The gorgeous ribbon is Stitched Edge in Rich Razzleberry - this ribbon is even prettier in real life!
Here's a Video Tutorial I did a few weeks back showing how to make a 'squashed' card.
I hope you will join in with our challenge this week and go and visit the rest of the Design Team - what 'W' set will you choose?
It's time for another blog hop for the Simply
Sketched Saturday Challenge. This time we had another colour challenge. Is it ok for me to say I actually groaned when I saw the Peekaboo Peach. It was never my favourite colour even in the 1980's!!! I must admit I have struggled to use this colour and I don't really have it in my stash of goodies. The only thing I have is one of our marker pens and I've used it to colour in the flower - and I loved it! What do you know! I used a Blender Pen to add some Melon Mambo in with the Peach on the flowers.
I love this stamp set - Floral Statements - only two stamps in the set but they are so versatile and beautiful. I've done a triple fold type card using some of the new Color Block Theory Designer Series Paper and the butterfly is from Bold Butterfly framelits.
I hope you will join us on the blog. Click on the button below to be taken forward to Keren's Blog.

I recently saw a fellow Demo Liz Shannon do a lovely tutorial on inlaid boxes. I actually collect old inlaid boxes and have quite a few so this idea was right up my street. I tried the one Liz did with the gorgeous Wood Textures DSP and the framelit from Colourful Seasons but I also wanted to have a play with my own twist on it.
I used the butterfly from Bold Butterfly framelits to make my second box. The You Tube tutorial is below.
The measurements for these boxes are very simple -
Cardstock 6" x 6" x 2 pieces. On one of the 6x6 pieces cut two sides ever so slightly less than 6" - it just helps the top of the box to fit nicely on top.
Score both sheets at 1 1/4" on all four sides. Cut up to score lines as normal and glue. Simple!
I hope you have fun making these boxes. All supplies can be purchased direct from my store - click on the button below.

It's a sketch challenge over at Global Design Project this week - I'm just in time with my entry. Click on the image below to go to their site.
I'm always a bit unsure of sketch challenges - do we take them literally? Do we follow to the letter, do we just add a few bits of what is in the sketch - I tend to follow the sketch as given but I do think its probably more to be taken as a general idea.
So here I've done a little bit of both - I've used one of the gorgeous butterflies from Watercolor Wings and the Bold Butterfly framelits. The colours I've used are Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Tangerine Tango. Some Glitter enamel dots are on the butterfly's wings and Wink of Stella all over. I've used a couple of Stitched Framelits also. The background paper is Delightful Daisy DSP.
I made a few little snips into the butterfly to enable me to curl his wings and pop it on a dimensional to give it more of a 3d affect.
I've been neglecting the Beautiful You set lately as there have been some lovely new sets to play with but today I thought it deserved an outing with a twist - including the new Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper.
I used the papers as a background but also cut it out for her dress. I have layered her onto Old Olive and added a dotted background with a white pen to simulate a window or as if she is looking in a mirror.
I added some butterflies - one with the sadly now retired Bitty Bitty punch but the other larger butterfly ws cut out with Winged Blossoms framelits. I added some Enamel dots to the butterflies, a bit of sponging on the smaller one. There is Wink of Stella on the butterflies, on her hat and on the dress. The hat was coloured in with a touch of Watermelon Wonder using a blender en.
The sentiment from the same set was embossed with white embossing powder and a touch of Lace Ribbon finishes off the card.
I know a very stylish lady who is going to receive this for her birthday.
How exciting to be chosen as winner at CAS Colours and Sketches again this week for my butterfly card. It's a great honour especially as I'm still learning the art of Clean and Simple. My next card is definitely neither Clean nor Simple. It is however going in to the Global Design Project #GDP089 challenge this week which is a colour challenge. I was sad to hear Kylie Bertucci is leaving the group which I believe she set up. I've 'met' Kylie through FB and belong to a few of her groups - it sounds as though she is moving on to something exciting and I wish her lots of luck.
I had actually just made this card this morning and started to do a video tutorial but my phone died so the tutorial will be added later. It was just lucky I had been using these colours anyway -apart from the black which had to be just sneaked in there somewhere! lol Anyway my card is a Tri Fold Shutter card - it looks complicated to do but isn't really once you get going and it definitely has the Wow factor. It also uses lots of small pieces of DSP so go one get cutting - and it doens't actually use a lot of DSP.
Trying to take decent pictures though is a whole other problem. For this card I used some of the Delightful Daisy DSP - I love this - I've nearly gone through a whole pack already. I also used the Daisy Delight stamps, some of the sentiments from Colourful Seasons and Beautiful You. I used my now retiring butterfly punches, I'm keeping hold of those though. And the butterfly on the front was from Bold Butterfly Framelits.
Here's another example of the same type of card using different papers in this DSP.
A new stamp set meets an old favourite. The Watercolor Wings works so well with our gorgeous new In-Colours - for the butterfly here I've used Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink and stamped off Fresh Fig, just to soften the Fresh Fig a little. This set works well with the Bold Butterfly Framelit Dies which I used to cut out the little butterfly.
I've been doing a few CAS challenges lately and its nice to throw loads of goodies at a card for a change. This is definitely not CAS!
I've also used the Daisy Delight stamp and the Designer Series Paper. I can see that these two combined are going to prove to be some of my favourites this year.
The cardstock is Fresh Fig. There is some Wink of Stella on the petals of the daisy, and on the butterfly. A Glitter Enamel Dot is used in the middle of the daisy and a few enamel dots on the butterfly.
I'm including this card in the challenge for #TGIFC108 - They have a sketch challenge this week. I'm also including it in Stamp Ink Paper's challenge this week which is Card Maker's Choice - click on the image to be taken to their site.
