BOTANICAL BLOOMS GDP #076

It is case the designer over at Global Design Project this week and this is Kylies card for us to CASE.

In this instance CASE stands for Copy and Selectively Edit but I have also seen it to be known as Copy and Share Everything.

My card uses the gorgeous Falling Petals Embossing folder which I have just treated myself to - I love it.  I wanted to use it as the background for this card.  I've added some of the gorgeous Lace Trim and added a flower from Botanical Blooms Framelits.  The flower was cut out in Whisper White, Melon Mambo and the middle inked with Night of Navy. I have used Melon Mambo card stock and Night of Navy cardstock as layering.

The sentiment comes from Beautiful You and was cut out of an oval Stitched Framelit with the addition of a Melon Mambo enamel shape.  There are some Dazzling Diamonds on the inside of the flower and some Wink of Stella on some of the hearts on the background.

We had a great night at one of my Hygge Night crafting evenings on Thursday with the ladies really enjoying doing a Waterfall card with the wonderful Hey Chick stamp set.  If you're in my area of Andover, Hampshire UK why not come along to my next one.

And, just for cuteness overload, I'm including a photo of my daughter's new pup - meet Cooper, a Cavalier King Charles - new to the family.  Isn't he adorable?

BEST BIRDS, COLOUR BLOCK TECHNIQUE - GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #075/WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY

I've been having fun with the colour block technique this week and my Masculine Monday You Tube tutorial showed one way of using this technique.

I hinted that I would be showing another way on my Wednesday tutorial and it just so happens to be Best Birds.  The challenge over at Global Design Project this week is

and the challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday is Masculine Cards - perfect for me at the moment.

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

Thankfully birds are included because I really don't do insects.  Butterflies are fine and bees are just about ok but I must admit I shudder at the new stamp sets we have at SU at the moment with all those bugs.  I'm not even very good with the dragonflies although I know they are beautiful just not my cup of tea.

So my card included Colour Blocking which is bascially grabbing a load of all those scraps of cardstock we all keep and doing something useful with them.

My card on Monday was blues and today's card was greens.  They are all stuck on to a white card background and I then used the Birds and Blooms thinlets to cut out the bird from the coloured stock.  This gives a negative image of a white bird and you could just leave your card like this.  I used the bird I'd cut out, stamped him with this corresponding image and popped him onto dimenstionals sitting on the stamped branch.  A touch of Wink of Stella on his feathers, naturally, finishes him off. I used the Decorative Label punch for the greeting.

Here's my YouTube Tutorial which also shows another way of using this Technique

I can see I'm going to be using this technique a lot lately - you know when you come across something and you can't let it go - I'm eyeing up all my scraps!

As usual all products can be purchased direct from my store or why not come and join my team if you are thinking of SU as a hobby or a career.  You will get to join one of the top UK teams with lots of help and fun.  I also run classes at my home in Hampshire.

SIMPLY SKETCHED SATURDAY CHALLENGE - AVANT-GARDEN, DELICATE DETAILS

Welcome to another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge.  Here is our Sketch this week which was put forward by Samantha Charlton.

I loved working with this set and wanted to have another play with the Avant-Garden Sale-A-Bration set.  Such a versatile little set.  I've also used the Delicate Details stamp set which is also part of Sale-A-Bration.  That means you could get both stamp sets for FREE.

I used embossing powder for the Delicate Details and some of our clear embossing powder.  This enables you to have embossed colour for any of our inks.  Just stamp in Versamark first, then the ink of your choice then add the clear embossing colour.  I have used Mint Macaron here to go against the Mint Macaron card stock.  This has been one of my favourite colours and I will be sorry to see it leave us in May.

I've used the Stitched Framelits for the circles.  The inks used for the flowers are Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry.  White Embossing Powder was used for the sentiment.

I used the Botanical Builder Framelits for the flower using the same colours.

As usual all products can be purchased direct from my store - don't miss out on the fabulous Sale-A-Bration offers.

BEST BIRDS - GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT 074

Theres a Sketch Challenge over at Global Design Project this week

I decided to turn the sketch around for my card and use the Best Birds together with the matching Birds and Blooms Thinlets.

I've used the beautiful Falling Petals Embossing Folder - mainly because I've just got it and I've fallen in love with it.  I've used the reverse side of it here just to show it can be used both ways, with the hearts raised or not.

I've used Blender Pens and ink pads to colour in the birds, and in true nature form, the male has brighter colours than the female.  I thought it would be a nice Anniversary card and I do have some friends who will be celebrating an anniversary soon - hopefully they won't see this!

HEY CHICK

I'd resisted this little set from Sale-A-Bration in my first set of orders.  But I've see so many cute little projects made with it that I took the plunge and its growing on me.  Funny how some stamps can do that to you.

I'm way out of my comfort zone here and am joining in with the Less is More challenge this week which is one layer with the provison Opposites Attract and Watercooler Wednesday which is sparkle CAS.

I used Hey Chick and Jar of Love for the flowers and the bee as well as Papillon Potpourri for the butterfly.

This would make a cute Easter Card, athough I must admit I don't normally send them out.  I'd love to know how many of you still do?

I stamped the hen and the egg in Early Espresso and used Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango.  I used a blender pen to colour in the chick and the egg and Wink of Stella to make it all sparkle a little.

MASCULINE MONDAY - WETLANDS

Another in my Masculine Monday series of You Tube tutorials this week saw me using the Wetlands stamp set.  I do love this set - and it goes so well with the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper.  I showed an example of a card and then showed how you could do the same card but just changing the papers and the stamps.

Here's the same basic sketch for a card - just changed up a bit by the different use of papers and main image.

STAMPIN UP GIFT CARD BAG - DESIGNER SERIES PAPER - YOU TUBE TUTORIAL

Here's a quick little gift bag you can make with any of our gorgeous Designer Series Papers.  It would be great for gift cards or vouchers.  I have shown two sizes here but you can make them any size you lik.  The larger size was made by drawing a circle around a CD - the smaller one was made with the largest of our Stitched Framelits.

I used some of our Designer Series Stack papers for the smaller ones and Blooms and Bliss DSP for the larger.

There isn't actually any stamping with this little project.  The flowers were cut out using Botanical Builder Framelits.

MEDITERRANEAN MOMENTS MEETS PAINTER'S PALETTE - GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT 073

A colour challenge is the order of the day over at Global Design Project 073 this week.

I must admit Emerald Envy is not a colour I use very often and I only have it as a marker pen and not as an ink pad so I felt this limited me somewhat.

I wanted to use the cafe scene from Mediterranean Moments which isn't one I've used yet and thought it would look so right going on to the easel of Painter's Palette.  My favourite style of painting is the French Impressionists, Manet, Monet and I thought this image just lent itself to this treatment.

The sentiment is from Best Birds and the background stamps are also from Painter's Palette.

BEAUTIFUL YOU MEETS FOXY FRIENDS

I'm back in my office which is my craft room after nearly a week of being poorly with a bad cold.  Aren't they so stupid?  They knock you for six for something which seems so trivial but you feel so ill.  I couldn't face anything - shows how bad I was that Hubby cooked twice lol!

Anyway today I'm feeling a bit stronger and wanted to try and be creative.  To give me a bit of a mojo boost, I thought I'd have a go at the Addicted to CAS challenge which is pets.  I love my pets - I have two dogs and two cats and love them both for their own personalities but I think I will always have cats and not necessarily always have dogs as I get older.

My favourite cats are black or black and white - and its sad that they are so often overlooked as people are superstitious about them.  I always think of them as lucky black cats and my little cat Jet is a treasure!

Here he is looking guilty - he had been in the sink licking a Valarian tea bag I had just used.  Apparently Valarian is like catmint for them and he loves it!

Here's my card  for the Challenge.  I used the Beautiful You set - which is the lovely background stamps in the set.  Just goes to show you can use sets outside of the main images that are in them.

I didn't really have an animal stamp and suddenly remembered my Foxy Friends punch and set which I haven't used in a while.  I punched it out in black and embossed the face in white embossing powder.

The little Hello is from a Project Life set Date It - also often overlooked as stamp sets but this one has 82 stamps in it!!!!!

The colours I used for the background were Watermelon Wonder, Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry.

As usual all products can be purchased direct from my store and don't forget SALE-A-BRATION is still on and you can get FREE stamps if you qualify.

DELICATE DETAILS - TIME OUT CHALLENGE 76

One of the wonderful sets in Sale-A-Bration is Delicate Details. I must admit I overlooked this set the first time I browsed through the catalogue but now I love using it.

This card started out as a piece of Very Vanilla and I inked it up - yep I went mad with the inks!  Pink isn't normally my colour but hey - it's nearly Valentine's so love is in the air!

I'm afraid I used quite a few stamp sets here for the various backgrounds but it does show how versatile all your sets can be.

After I had inked the background I used the Versamark to edge the paper with the Delicate Details and used White Embossing Powder. Do make sure to use an Embossing Buddy before hand otherwise all your inked paper will take the powder.

I used Painter's Palette and Best Birds for some of the background images.

The Elegant Butterfly Punch and the Bitty Butterfly punch were used for the butterflies.  I punched them out of Designer Series Paper Stacks  and then inked them up.  They have a touch of Dazzling Diamonds on their wings.

I used Jar of Love and Painter's Palette for the sentiments.  The little heart comes from Bookcase Builder - and there are a few Enamel Shapes on there also.  Phew!  Don't think this will be going in to a category challenge of Clean and Simple lol!

However, I am going to put it forward for the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping by and do leave a comment - I love to hear from you.

As usual all products can be purchased from me if you are in the UK or parts of Europe - just click on my Shop logo above or browse the SU catalogue shown on the side bar.

TOTALLY TREES - DELICATE DETAILS - SALE-A-BRATION - WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY

This week's challenge at Watercooler Wednesday is a sketch challenge - I love these - really makes you think outside of your usual box. This is the sketch for us to work with.

I turned to Totally Trees for my card.  I've done a purple card for a change - its not my normal choice of colours but my daughter has Epilepsy and purple is the colour for the charity.  This month they are holding Purple Days to raise money and awareness for this condition so I will be making a lot of purple cards for her.

I used Rich Razzleberry on the tree here and then embossed over it with our Copper Embossing powder - this is so lovely!

The edging was done with one of our Sale-A-Bration FREE sets - did I mention it is FREE if you spend £45 on one order.  This set is called Delicate Details and has some gorgeous lacey images which look so lovely when embossed - embossed here once again in the Copper Embossing Powder.

The little bird is from the Best Birds Framelits. I used a white gel pen to go over him and give him some stitching marks to match the Stitching Framelits.

SUPPLIES USED:

Cardstock - Wisteria Wonder - Blushing Bride
Inks - Perfect Plum Elegant Eggplant, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry
Stamp Sets - Totally Trees, Delicate Details, Jar of Love (For You sentiment)
Framelits - Stitched Framelits, Birds and Blooms,  Bunch of Banner Framelits
Accessories - Copper Embossing Powder, Enamel Shapes, Sequins Trim, Very Vanilla Lace Trim, Wink of Stella (on bird)

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment - its great to hear from you

BEST BIRDS ON A TAG

Well today I just fancied making a tag! Its been years since I made one - I used to also love making ATC's and Inchies and used to run an Inchy Challenge blog.  Although I didn't know what to do with my tag after I'd made it so I stuck it on a card lol!

I've used the Best Birds set again and the lovely framelits that go with it and just a sentiment stamp from Painter's Palette.

I wanted to go grunge and vintage with this tag and I think this set really helps you to do that.  This was always my style of crafting and I think I've lost it over the past year with doing my SU business, but there's no reason I can't go back to it with SU products.

Lots of layers and ink on this one - the cardstock for the tag is Very Vanilla which I then inked up with Crumb Cake and Bermuda Bay.  I used the background stamp from Best Birds to create the embossed background which ws embossed with Copper Embossing powder.

The Bird was watercoloured with Crumb Cake, Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip and a touch of Melon Mambo, which was also used for the flowers just to give it a pop of colour.

The butterfly was punched out with the Itty Bitty Punch from DSP stack paper and Basic Pearls added.  A touch of our gorgeous Lace Ribbon at the bottom and some Linen Thread at the top.  Also a touch of our Copper Metallic thread - this stuff is tricky to use as its so fine.  I find the best way to use it is to add some glue to the reverse of the card and then just loop it onto it.  It sometimes loops the way it wants and not the way you want! lol!

The sentiment comes from Painter's Palette and I used one of the Banner Framelits to cut it out.

The tag was then layered onto some Crumb Cake cardstock and eventually onto Very Vanilla which I also inked up with Chocolate Chip.

I'm going to pop this into the Creative Inspirations challenge blog who want cute critters.  I'm not sure if my bird is quite cute enough but I think she is!

MEDITERRANEAN MOMENTS - INKSPIRATIONAL CHALLENGE 127

I'm a cat lady!  There!  It's official I'e said it.  Although I have two dogs which I also love dearly I have two cats also and have cats since I was 9 years old.  I can always see me having a cat - not necessarily always having dogs as I get older!

So I was so happy to see a cat on one of the stamps from this lovely set Mediterranean Moments.  This cat actually looks a little like one of my old cats I lost last year  her name was Megan and she was 16 when we lost her.

I've given my cat on this card her colouring slightly.

The challenge over at Inkspirational Challenge 127 is polkadots and I had already made this card using some of the DSP Stacks.  I love these papers, they are so versatile.  I've used the same paper with the Itty Bitty punch to punch out the butterfly.

Stitched framelits were used and I used our Watercolour Pencils for the colouring in.  A touch of linen thread finishes off the card.
