Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge - Floral Statements

No automatic alt text available.

It's time for another blog hop for the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge.  This time we had another colour challenge.  Is it ok for me to say I actually groaned when I saw the Peekaboo Peach.  It was never my favourite colour even in the 1980's!!! I must admit I have struggled to use this colour and I don't really have it in my stash of goodies.  The only thing I have is one of our marker pens and I've used it to colour in the flower - and I loved it!  What do you know! I used a Blender Pen to add some Melon Mambo in with the Peach on the flowers.

I love this stamp set - Floral Statements - only two stamps in the set but they are so versatile and beautiful.  I've done a triple fold type card using some of the new Color Block Theory Designer Series Paper and the butterfly is from Bold Butterfly framelits.

I hope you will join us on the blog.  Click on the button below to be taken forward to Keren's Blog.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge - WWC129 - Libby's All About Christmas

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

No automatic alt text available.

It's another Christmas in July offering from WWC this week - although last week's challenge wasn't Christmas we still had some Christmas entries so I'm guessing a lot of Crafters have Christmas on their minds.  Do them all early and avoid the rush - that's what I say.

My card this week uses Colourful seasons and Foxy Friends.  I don't actually have any Christmas stamps from the new catalogue yet - the ones I had retired and I'm waiting for the new Winter catalogue to come out before I purchase any new ones.  So I've used what I have which are these two stamp sets.  I love reindeers on Christmas cards so my foxy has become a reindeer!

I've clear embossed the stars with white embossing powder onto Night of Navy cardstock.  The reindeer was stamped with Soft Suede and a lovely bright red Enamel Shape for his nose.  The band of paper is from the new set of DSP - Color Theory Designer pack.  Some Basic Rhinestones dotted about and a touch of our new shiny ribbon in silver finishes off the card.

I look forward to seeing what you do - do pop by and see the other members of the Design Team and leave a comment - we love to hear from you.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge - WWC128 - Heidi's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

Image may contain: one or more people and text

Our challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday this week is by Heidi and is another Masculine Anything Goes Challenge. I love the challenge of a masculine card cause I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggles if you don't have masculine images as such.  I used to use Wetlands as my go to Masculine stamp set but that retired and at the moment I don't have much in my stamp collection.  So I went with papers.

Here I've used a collection of our new Wood Textures Designer Series Paper layered onto Early Espresso Card Stock.  The sentiment is from Colourful Seasons. I've added some Burlap Ribbon and some Enamel Dots in Island Indigo just to give all those browns a lift.

This card will be going to hubby when he least expects it.  He always makes me smile!

Come and join us at the challenge this week and pop by the rest of the Design Team to see what inspiration they have for you.

COFFEE CAFE GIFT BAGS

Another YouTube tutorial for you today - I loved this Coffee Cafe Suite when I first saw it - I do love coffee but it has to be dark and strong.  No milk, no sugar.  I also like coffee chocolate but that's harder to find.  These little gift bags would be great for giving with chocolates in or sample coffees.

They are very simple to do and naturally you can use the basics of the bag for any combination of Designer Series Papers you may have.

You need a piece of Designer Series Paper 12" x 6".  Score on the 6" side at 2".

On the 12" side score at 1", 3 3/4", 6.5" and 9 1/4".  Fold and burnish your score lines.  Cut the bags as shown on the tutorial, glue and decorate as you would like.

As usual all products can be purchased direct from my store - click on the link below to be taken direct.  And don't forget our Special Bonus Days offer for July where for every £45 you spend in July you get a coupon for £4.50 off in August.

JOY OF SETS CHALLENGE JOS#002 - THE LETTER 'S'

http://www.joyofsetschallenge.blogspot.co.uk/

We had a great response to our first Challenge last week over at my challenge Blog The Joy of Sets.  This week we are working with the letter 'S'.  Which set would be your favourite for this one?

I opted to use Sweet Home - mainly to show that you don't just need to use the framelits to make houses to use this versatile set.

I've used some of the new Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and offset them a bit and also used them to cut out the frame of the house.  This would be a cute card for someone moving house.

To join in with the challenge and see what the other Design Team members have chosen as their stamp set with the letter 'S' click on the image below.

COLOURFUL SEASONS - FROZEN

As part of our Stampin Up Team we organise a monthly card swap with themes. The Theme this month was Disney - difficult for me. I am well aware of the copyright issues also with Disney themed products and know that you can't sell them on - although it does surprise me when I see them at shows or on Etsy etc.

Luckily though our cards for the swap do not get sold so we are fine to play around with the theme.

I got my inspiration from Pinterest from Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek who had made similar as party invites for her daughter.  Just in case you haven't guessed it its the dress from Frozen!  Luckily my children are grown so I haven't really had the pleasure of this Disney film - well I admit my 24 year old daughter made me watch it when it came out and I wasn't that impressed - must be my age.

But I love this dress - I've used the snowflakes from Colourful Seasons.  Bermuda Bay ink and Cardstock and Pool Party Cardstock.  I've also used Silver Embossing powder, some Basic Rhinestones and some of our Organza Ribbon.

I hope my swap partner likes my effort.  Phew - this was tricky.

EMBOSS RESIST TECHNIQUE - WATERCOLOR WINGS

A technique for you all today - the Emboss Resist Technique I'm not sure if that is its correct technical term but it's what I call it.  Here are a couple of examples of the technique and I've done a You Tube tutorial for you - its makes it easier than typing it all out.   This one uses Watercolor Wings and the sentiment is from Best Birds.  The flowers and firefly is from Jar of Love.

This one uses Watercolor Wings and some of the fireflies and flowers from Jar of Love again using some of the new In-Colours of Lemon Lime Twist and Fresh Fig.

I hope you have a go at this technique - drop me a comment if you do and I'll come and have a look.

All products can of course be purchased from my on line store - click on the link below.

DAISY DELIGHT - NO PUNCH CARD

Sometimes demand just outstrips supply - sadly this has happened with the Daisy Punch and there is a back order for this popular little punch. I was lucky enough to get one initially but in case you haven't but you have the gorgeous Daisy Delight stamp set - fear not - there are lots of lovely projects you can do with this stamp set and not include the punch.

Here's one of my cards using the stamps and the Delightful Daisy DSP.

I've added a touch of one of our new ribbons here also to show you.  Ribbons are such personal things - don't you think?  I think they are very tactile and sometimes we need to touch and see them to appreciate their beauty.  Well, I do anyway.  I joined in with a ribbon swap which is a great way of getting to see the ribbons without the cost of buying all of them just to see which ones you like.  The one I have included here is definitely on my must have list.  It's Crinkle Seam Binding Ribbon in Night of Navy.  Funny though I have heard some people say they would need to iron the crinkles out - nooooo!!

Here's a You Tube tutorial for you

INLAID BOXES

Inlaid Boxes

I recently saw a fellow Demo Liz Shannon do a lovely tutorial on inlaid boxes.  I actually collect old inlaid boxes and have quite a few so this idea was right up my street.  I tried the one Liz did with the gorgeous Wood Textures DSP and the framelit from Colourful Seasons but I also wanted to have a play with my own twist on it.

I used the butterfly from Bold Butterfly framelits to make my second box.  The You Tube tutorial is below.

The measurements for these boxes are very simple -

Cardstock 6" x 6" x 2 pieces.  On one of the 6x6 pieces cut two sides ever so slightly less than 6" - it just helps the top of the box to fit nicely on top.

Score both sheets at 1 1/4" on all four sides.  Cut up to score lines as normal and glue.  Simple!

I hope you have fun making these boxes.

All supplies can be purchased direct from my store - click on the button below.

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE - #127 - JUDY'S ALL ABOUT BIRTHDAYS

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

Wow - how quick did that week go - and here we are with another challenge for Watercooler Wednesday.  This week its Judy's All About Birthdays challenge.  I've chosen to use Jar of Love and the new Daisy Punch for my card.

I fancied a chnage of colours to some blues for a change.  The Jar of Love was cut with the matching framelits and I also cut out a piece of vellum for the jar to make it look like glass.  It doesn't quite show up in the photo.  Just at bottom left you can see a stamped image of one of the flowers from the Delightful Daisy set - I cut this image out and put it at the bottom of the jar cause petals and flowers often fall off and land on tables don't they?

I've also used some of the gorgeous new DSP from the Color Theory pack which has that lovely crackled effect.

The sentiment comes from Beautiful You. The centres of the flowers are filled with some of those gorgeous Glitter Enamel Dots - you really need to see them in the flesh to appreciate them.

Thanks for dropping by my blog - please check out all the other inspirational projects from the Design Team and drop them a comment - we love to hear from you.  Click on the Watercooler image at the top of here to be taken to the blog and come and play along with us.

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE - #126 - FIONA'S FEMININE 'ANYTHING GOES'

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

It's Wednesday again and that means Wednesday Watercooler challenge.  Have you noticed our new banner?  How cool is that?  This week is another challenge which I am hosting - Fiona's Feminine Challenge.

I've used the gorgeous Floral Statements stamp set for my card - I hope you agree it is very feminine.  I adore this set - it is only two stamps but they are so beautiful in either Hellor or Thanks. I've used Pink Powder and Berry Burst Inks for the flowers and Pear Pizazz and a touch of Old Olive for the leaves.  The background paper is from our new DSP Color Theory which I adore.  A touch of our new Powder Pink shimmer ribbon and some Glitter Enamel Dots adds a bit of bling.  The friend sentiment comes from Jar of Love and I've used the Stitched Framelits to layer it.

I hope you'll come and join in with our challenge this week - I'm looking forward to seeing all your lovely feminine cards.  Just click on the banner above to be taken to the challenge blog.

JOY OF SETS CHALLENGE BLOG - #JOS001 - THE LETTER 'F'

http://www.joyofsetschallenge.blogspot.com/

Back in March I started a Facebook Group called the Joy of Sets.  My intention was a place where people could showcase the lovely stamp sets of Stampin' Up! through the years be they current or retired.

I was overwhelmed with how popular this page became and, at the time of writing this, in just a few short months I have nearly 2,500 members.

I decided, in my madness, that it might be a good idea to take Joy of Sets out on the road so to speak so I've set up a Challenge Blog.  With the help of six very talented ladies as my first Design Team members we have started the Challenge Blog today, 4th July.  It will run fortnightly on a Tuesday.

The Challenge Blog is all about Stampin' Up! sets and each Challenge we will choose a letter of the alphabet.  The SU stamp set used must include that letter either in its first name or its second.  Full details are on the challenge blog.

With that in mind, our first challenge was the letter 'F' - no surprises there then.

I chose to use Foxy Friends as my set - actually using double 'F'!

I used some of the new Color Theory Designer Series Paper in the gorgeous Berry Burst and continued the colours through to the cardstock.  My foxy friend is actually a cat lol!  The sentiment is from Pretty Kitty.  I used the Stitched Framelits for the layering.  A touch of Glitter Enamel Dots and our new gorgeous Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon finishes off my card.

To join in with  the challenge and see what the other Design Team members have made for inspiration click on the image below.

We hope to see you join in with our very first challenge.  The winner of the challenge gets the chance to be a Guest Designer for us.
