ANOTHER TREE CARD

I've been playing with some more trees for the challenge over at As You See It which is Trees.

This one still uses the Winter Woods I used the other day but I've paired it with another old SU set Merry Patterns.  I stamped the reindeer first on some watercolour paper and coloured it in with various Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  I then masked it off and using Ranger Adirondack ink in Cloudy Blue I stamped the birch trees behind.  I added a touch of Basic Grey and some Wink of Stella to give them a bit of shine.  I then made a frame for the deer and added the same birch trees in Versamark on green cardstock.  I used a SU banner punch for the sentiment and edged it with Wink of Stella.  The twine is from my stash.

IN THIS WORLD

I always seem to be a bit behind the times when it comes to Stampin Up sets - I seem to fall in love with them after they've retired!  This is what happened with In This World - a set I've only just started using and I love it.  It gives me the chance to do the sort of cards I really love - which is lots of layers, inking and vintage style.

I started off with a piece of ST Cardstock in Pool Party - with some retired DSP which has been torn and inked up in Soft Suede.  I stamped the butterfly image and the key from In This World and used the dots from Painter's Palette.  The door was inked sponged and cut out and added on top of some Burlap Ribbon.  The butterfly was cut out of Bold Butterfly thinlets and the small butterfly punched out with a retired SU punch.  A touch of ribbon and thread is added to the butterfly.  The words are from the set and were stamped and cut out and added on dimensionals - very fiddly.

This card shows my love of crafting and what got me into it - I love the inking and when I first got my Big Shot it was a revelation.  Global Design Project  #143 have asked us to show what got us into crafting and this has all the elements for me.

I'm also including this into the following challenges

As You See It Challenge - FRESH - this was a fresh stamp set for me
TGIF Challenges - Doodle - I doodled on the door adding inked bits for shading

AUTUMN DAYS

Well, it should be spring here in the UK but it feels more like Autumn -and not a good Autumn at that! Dull, wet, miserable, the dark days of winter are hanging around far too much. Maybe that's what drew me to doing a more autumnal feel to my card today.

This is the challenge over at As You See It  #173 for this week - a wealth of possibility.

I decided to use a very old SU set - Autumn Days.  I started with inking the background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Antique Linen, Old Paper, then added some SU Pear Pizzazz and Crushed Curry.  The sentiment stamp is a very old one from Laura Ashley of all people.  It's a word stamps which says -

"Find your inspiration anywhere, roaming the English countryside, gathering wildflowers, reading a cherished gardening book, watching birds flutter in the sky, following their trail that leads through the woods, sipping tea and watching the sun rise, strolling through the garden amongst the roses, sitting on a swing built for two and watching the world around you."

How idyllic is that imagery.  And just as I was reading it our local Cockerel Pheasant made himself known with that raucous cry they have and there he was in the garden.  The dogs, being gundogs, go mad when they hear him cry but they don't scare him - not one bit.  So there really was no other alternative than to put him on this card for today.

After stamping the word stamp in Tranquil Tide I heat embossed the pheasant with SU brown embossing powder.  He was then coloured in with SU Markers in golds, greens and reds.  I stamped some of the grasses from the set in stamped off SU Crumb Cake and added some Burlap Ribbon and enamel dots.  The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts and is cut out with Banners Framelits.

Thanks for stopping by - I appreciate reading your comments.

OH CHRISTMAS TREE

I have yet to find a nice stamp with the wording Oh Christmas Tree on it - I'm sure there are lots out there - it would have been handy for this card for the As You See It Challenge this week - which is a panel card and a sketch.

I've used an old SU stamp set here Season of Joy for the trees and Merry Little Labels for the Just for You.  The colours are the lovely Lemon Lime Twist ink, paper and ribbon.  The sentiment is stamped in Fresh Fig and Old Olive and is from Inkadinkadoo.

A touch of bling on the stars from some Rhinestones finishes off this card.

I'm loving joining in with all these challenges - I'm getting a really nice assortment of Christmas cards ready for the season.

All about the Boo!

It's no surprise there are a lot of Hallowe'en challenges around at the moment. As You See It Challenge is also using the theme and they have said Scary or cute Boo!  Not sure I do scary so cute Boo it is!

Hand Stamped Sentiments have given us a great image to work with also on this theme

This is an old Stampin' Up Set from 2003 I think which was called Bitty Boos.  I've kept it all these years because it's just such a fun set  - here I've used some SU inks of Lemon Lime Twist and Tangerine Tango.  I think my favourite little image is the cat!

BOOKCASE BUILDER/COLOURFUL SEASONS - BABY CARDS

I am so in love with this little project - do you know when you just do something and just like it straight away - this is how I feel about this Squashed Card - not sure what else to call it really.  I found something similar on a youtube tutorial ages ago and put it in my "to do" file - sadly I can't find the original author.

I've done two examples - both baby cards which is not like me but I wanted to play with the bookcase builder and thought it would be great for this project.

I've done a pink version and a blue version.  The sentiment on the front is from Colourful Seasons and it is just the perfect sentiment for this card.  I think from the outside it looks quite plain until you open it up.

You can do this type of card any size you like as long as you use a square piece of cardstock - mine started out as a 6" x 6" square.

I've used the Color Theory Designer Series Papers for both - the blues I've used Pacific Point and Crumb Cake for the Teddy.  The blue ribbon is one of our gorgeous new ribbons - Stitched Edge Pacific Point.

The Pinks I have used the DSP also and Powder Pink and Berry Burst inks.  Also a touch of enamel dots on both cards.   The pink ribbon is Double Stitched Blushing Bride - another new ribbon.

I'm adding the pink one into The Paper Players challenge this week which is Tic Tac Toe and luckily mine fits the bill.

I'm also adding this into the As You See It Challenge - they want to know how you get your mojo back.  I get mine my trawling through the internet and looking and listening to videos - it helps to listen to a voice when I'm on my own in my craft room - a voice other than mine that is!

Here's the video tutorial - I hope you make some and let me know if you do.

DAISY DELIGHT AND DELIGHTFUL DAISY!

The gorgeous Delightful Daisy suite has the lovely Stamp Set and gorgeous papers to match.  I've already gone through a whole pack full and have to order another one.

The challenge over at As You See It this week is a sketch challenge. Click on the image to go to their site.

I too am a cat lover - I have two and would have more if I could. And I was tempted to use Pretty Kitty but the papers of Delightful Daisy were calling to me. I also love using the other stamps in this set which deserve recognition as well as the big daisy stamp and punch.

I used one sheet of the Designer Series Paper from this Suite and this shows you both sides - the lovely ombre faded Old Olive green and the other side is wonderful bright yellow daisies.  I stamped the two step stamping daisies in Daffodil Delight and Tangeinr Tango.  The stems were inked in Pear Pizazz and I added a touch of our Linen Thread.  The Just For You banner is actually from an old but favourite set Banner Banter which had the matching punch.  A touch of Rhinestones in the middle of the daisies finished off this card.

THREE STAMP SETS - FEELING BLUE?

I didn't think I'd have time for any more crafting before I go away on holiday but I managed to sneak one in this evening.  I don't often do blue cards but found myself drawn to all these different blues this evening.  My card is inspired by the sketch on As You See It challenge. Click on their sketch to be taken to their challenge.

I've used three stamp sets for this card.  The stripes are from the Playful Backgrounds set.  I love this set - its so versatile.  They have been stamped in Soft Sky and I used Wink of Stella over the top to make them sparkle a bit.   The dots are from Painter's Palette and the sentiment is from Picture Perfect.  I've used some of our Designer Series Paper in Subtles for the background paper and the flower which is from the Botanical Builder framelits.  One of our enamel shapes in the middle finishes the flower.  I quite like the soft colours in this card - I may find I use blue more often.

I think you can just about see the Wink of Stella sparkle.  I think my WOS may be on its way out.  I read a great tip from someone that, once its empty, fill it with water and you can still use it!

 Happy Crafting
