WATERCOLOR WINGS

The Challenge over at CAS Colours and sketches is a sketch this week

Quite a simple layout which you would expect from a CAS challenge but with a wealth of possibilities - my problem with the CAS cards is knowing when to stop.  I know it says lots of space and few embellishments but I thought my card needed just a tiny bit of bling!

I've been doing a few purple cards this week as its Epilepsy Awareness week in the UK and my gorgeous daughter suffers with this hateful condition.  Maybe this was on my mind when I reached out for the purple yet again.

I've used some SU DSP from Delightful Daisy - I'm slowly running out of my DSP and using it all sparingly.  I used the Butterfly framelits to cut out the butterfly out of the DSP and a little butterfly punch I had for the small one.  I'm not sure it shows up on the small one but it also has a layer of vellum on top.  I love the sentiment in this set so have used it here, cutting it out with the stitched framelits - I think this card will be winging its way to my daughter for a "Just Because" card.

Thanks for stopping by my blog - I appreciate you being here and love to read your comments.

JOY OF SETS CHALLENGE BLOG - JOS#007 - THE LETTER 'W' - WATERCOLOR WINGS

http://joyofsetschallenge.blogspot.co.uk/

We are into another challenge over at Joy of Sets Challenge blog and this time we are working with the letter 'W'.

This was an easy choice for me - I only have one set with the letter 'W' which is Watercolor Wings.  I decided to do another squashed card - this one is slightly bigger at 8" x 8".  I've used the DSP from Delightful Daisy and the Bold Butterfly framelits for the butterfly.  The gorgeous ribbon is Stitched Edge in Rich Razzleberry - this ribbon is even prettier in real life!

Here's a Video Tutorial I did a few weeks back showing how to make a 'squashed' card.

I hope you will join in with our challenge this week and go and visit the rest of the Design Team - what 'W' set will you choose?

Watercooler Wednesday #WWC135 - Judy's Feminine "Anything Goes" Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

Judy has chosen our challenge for this week and it's one with a feminine touch.

I've chosen to use Daisy Delight for my card and used a technique which is called the Easel Card.

I have used some of the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper and the elusive Daisy Punch - I say elusive because it was hard to get when it was first introduced in the new catalogue.  The sentiment and the little daisies are from the Stamp Set Daisy Delight.

These little cards are very simple to make and I've added a tutorial below. Let me know if you make one - I'd love to have a look.

Please visit the rest of the Design Team and check out their inspiration for you.

POOTLES BIRTHDAY BLOG HOP

Sam Hammond, who is my upline - runs a Birthday Blog Hop on her Pootles page - its a great chance to see some lovely birthday cards and an excuse to hop around the blogs!

My card for the hop is a take on the Squashed Card I did the other day - this one though is an 8" x 8" and I've done it as a birthday card.

I've used the Watercolor Wings stamp set and some of the sentiments from Pretty Kitty.  The Designer Series Papers have come from Delightful Daisy and Coffee Break - my two favourite papers in the new catalogue.  The cardstock for the card is Tangerine Tango which was a 12" x 12" sheet of cardstock.

I kept the larger butterfly simple using the framelits to cut out the image out of Wisteria Wonder and then simply stamped all three stamps in Elegant Eggplant.  You have to forgive my ink for looking slightly faded but my ink stamp is from 2007 and has NOT been re-inked - how's that for value for money!   Some Wink of Stella on the butterfly and basic rhinestones add some sparkle on the outside, and Dazzling Diamonds add some sparkle to the butterflies on the inside.  The gorgeous ribbon is also new - and is Stitched Edge ribbon in Rich Razzleberry.

I hope you pop along to everyone else in the hop and see what they have come up with.

DAISY DELIGHT - NO PUNCH CARD

Sometimes demand just outstrips supply - sadly this has happened with the Daisy Punch and there is a back order for this popular little punch. I was lucky enough to get one initially but in case you haven't but you have the gorgeous Daisy Delight stamp set - fear not - there are lots of lovely projects you can do with this stamp set and not include the punch.

Here's one of my cards using the stamps and the Delightful Daisy DSP.

I've added a touch of one of our new ribbons here also to show you.  Ribbons are such personal things - don't you think?  I think they are very tactile and sometimes we need to touch and see them to appreciate their beauty.  Well, I do anyway.  I joined in with a ribbon swap which is a great way of getting to see the ribbons without the cost of buying all of them just to see which ones you like.  The one I have included here is definitely on my must have list.  It's Crinkle Seam Binding Ribbon in Night of Navy.  Funny though I have heard some people say they would need to iron the crinkles out - nooooo!!

Here's a You Tube tutorial for you

As usual all products can be purchased from my store - click on the link to be taken direct.

DAISY DELIGHT

A very busy card from me today - using some of the Delightful Daisy DSP and the Daisy Delight stamp set and punch.  This punch has proven very popular with availabililty not being able to keep up with demand at present so I'm glad I got my order in early.

I used Tangerine Tango and Night of Navy for the cardstock.  The daisy was stamped twice in Night of Navy and punched out with a Glitter enamel dot in the middle.  I used the Stitched Framelits for layering the daisy and added a little punched out butterfly.

The sentiments are from the same set.

I'm adding this to As You See It Challenge #152 which is a sketch challenge.

POOTLERS SIMPLY SKETCHED SATURDAY CHALLENGE - FLORAL STATEMENTS

Its another blog hop from the Pootlers Team today - this time we are on Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge duty.  Instead of a sketch this month we have chosen a Colour Challenge -

 Image may contain: text

You should have heard the groans when we saw Calypso Coral - poor thing doesn't get a lot of love - but maybe it is one of your favourites?  Fresh Fig and Blushing Bride are two of our new In-Colours and they are just stunning.

I used Smoky Slate as my base cardstock.  I don't own any Calypso Coral inks but realised that it is in the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper so I used this as my background paper.  I wanted to try and get a vintage feel with my card for this rose - it looks like a Tea Rose to me and they are such old-fashioned roses with gorgeous scent.  This Floral Statements set is just stunning - just two stamps but I think they are going to be the quiet stealers of our new Catalogue.

Here I've used the Thanks stamp - there is also an Hello.  I coloured the roses in with a Blender Pen in both Blushing Bride and Fresh Fig.  The leaves and stems were coloured using Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive.  I then roughed up the edges of the Whisper White cardstock and sponged it all over with a very fine inking of Crumb Cake.  The edges were inked with Fresh Fig and Blushing Bride.

Do you see the gorgeous Ribbon?  Its one of our new ones called Powder Pink Shimmer and I love it.  The Shimmer ribbons and the Crinkle Crease are my favourites this year.

I layered this onto some more Smoky Slate Cardstock which was also inked at the edges with Fresh Fig.  The little dots which have been Versamarked down the edge are from the Watercolor Wings set.

I'm sorry to say I used a retired punch for the butterfly - cutting it out of the same DSP and adding some Basic Pearls.

Wink of Stella has been used on the THANKS and the roses just to add a bit more shimmer.

I hope you've enjoyed my project - pop along to Dee's page in to see some more inspiration.

POOTLES NEW CATALOGUE BLOG HOP - DAISY DELIGHT

Welcome to The Pootlers Team Blog Hop to launch the new 2017 Catalogue - we have some great projects for you showcasing some of our wonderful  new products.

I have chosen to go with Daisy Delight Stamp set and the wonderful Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper - I seriously love this paper - I have used a whole pack already.

There is a Daisy Punch to go with this set which is getting a lot of the attention.  I wanted to focus on the other stamps in this set which are so pretty.

I have used Old Olive and one of our new inks Lemon Lime Twist for the stems.  I have stamped the daisies in Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango.  These daisies are two step stamping which gives you co-ordinating stamps to produce the pretty flowers.  I've layered the DSP onto black cardstock and it shows you the two sides here of this lovely paper.

The sentiment stamped onto one of our banner framelits is from another new set Colourful Seasons.  I have wound some of the lovely Copper Metallic thread around the base of the stems.  Some Enamel shapes finish off the card.

Pop along to Joanne's Blog to carry on the blog hop.

POOTLES BIRTHDAY BLOG HOP - JUNE

Although my birthday is in May - Sam allows us to join in with her Birthday Blog Hop if we also have birthdays falling within that month - June is one of the busiest months for me birthday wise with a total of 4 family birthdays (it should be five but I lost my sister in 1999).  Four friends also have their birthdays in June so I need a lot of cards.

My card today is all about the Daisies - Daisy Delight Stamp Set, Daisy Punch and Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper - I just adore these papers.

I've gone for a Bursting Technique - I'm not sure if that's its correct title but that's what I'm calling it. Where the images bursts through the paper.

My image is the punched out Daisy on top of a stamped daisy popping out of the DSP.  Dazzing Diamonds are covering the middle of the daisy.

The papers show the two sides of this particular sheet of DSP.  The butterfly is from the Bold Butterfly Framelits and has been cut out in the same DSP with some added Basic Rhinestones. The sentiment is from Bella and Friends and has been embossed with White Embossing Powder.

WATERCOLOR WINGS - GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT GDP090

It's a sketch challenge over at Global Design Project this week - I'm just in time with my entry.  Click on the image below to go to their site.

http://www.global-design-project.com/2017/06/global-design-project-090-sketch.html I'm always a bit unsure of sketch challenges - do we take them literally?  Do we follow to the letter, do we just add a few bits of what is in the sketch - I tend to follow the sketch as given but I do think its probably more to be taken as a general idea.

So here I've done a little bit of both - I've used one of the gorgeous butterflies from Watercolor Wings and the Bold Butterfly framelits.  The colours I've used are Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Tangerine Tango.  Some Glitter enamel dots are on the butterfly's wings and Wink of Stella all over.  I've used a couple of Stitched Framelits also.  The background paper is Delightful Daisy DSP.

I made a few little snips into the butterfly to enable me to curl his wings and pop it on a dimensional to give it more of a 3d affect.

PRETTY KITTY - SUNDAY STAMPS SSC154

Blogging twice in one day- you can tell the weather is not so brilliant in the UK - not quite a lovely summery June day. A perfect excuse to do some crafting....not that I need an excuse.

I'm playing along with Sunday Stamps which has a sketch challenge for us:

I thought I'd use the sad little kitty from Pretty Kitty - you never know when you need such a card in your stash!

I added a strip of the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper and wrapped some Linen Thread around it to match the wool in the image.

The kitty image was coloured in with Watercolor Pencils and layered onto stitched Framelits in Whisper White and Night of Navy.  The sentiment was inked in Night of Navy.  The little hearts were from the Everyday Jars Framelits.  If life is messy you need some love, hence the hearts.

 HAPPY CRAFTING

WATERCOLOR WINGS - RESIST EMBOSSED

A technique from me today which is not a new technique at all but one I haven't seen around for a while - called the Resist Embossed Technique.

I've used some of the new Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper here, the leaves from Jar of Love and the Butterflies from Watercolor Wings.

The butterflies were first stamped onto Whisper White with Versamark and then embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I then used some Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink and Berry Burst ink with one of our sponge daubers to make the image of the butterfly pop!

The happy birthday is from Best Birds and I finished the butterflies off with some Rhinestones.

I'm adding this into the Time Out challenge  #85 this week which has this lovely photo as our inspiration.  It's a shame Picture Perfect is retired as that hummingbird would be lovely to use.
