I was delighted to be chosen as one of the Top Cups over at Sunday Stamps this week.
Carrying on with my theme of Christmas cards for the challenges I enter - I must admit its a great way of getting so many varied styles of Christmas cards - If I didn't have the parameters of the challenges to work to I may just do the same old thing!
The challenge at The Paper Players this week is Clean and Simple but inspired by the theme of Warm and Cosy and their image.
I've added both the mittens and the cup in my card.
I've used some of the Stampin Up Merry Christmas Designer Series Paper from this year's main catalogue and used the framelits from A Nice Cuppa to cut out the tea cups. A touch of the matching mittens paper at the top and a ribbon in Cherry Cobbler and gold just add a bit of sparkle - but not too much as this also has to be CAS. The Sentiment is from Merry Little Labels and was inked with marker pens in both Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive for the holly - put on dimensionals and added to the ribbon with a bit of gold thread to make it look like a bauble. I like using sets that are not necessarily Christmas to give us more options and make us think out side the box.
How many of us have stamp sets that we've never used? Lots I guess - and how many of us have stamp sets that we've used some of the stamps but not all? I was looking at the Paper Players challenge this week which is Holiday Pines thinking - hmm don't think I have anything with a pine on it. Lo and behold I was using an old SU set Autumn Days and what should be in it but pines - never ever inked up!
I used some marker pens to ink up the stamp to get the two colours of green and brown for the pines and inspired by a card on Pinterest I turned them into a wreath. There is some Wink of Stella on the fir cones to make them sparkle. The sentiment is from a set by Inkadinkadoo and it also includes those little pines. Seems I do have stamps with pines on!
Excuse the pun in my title but I couldn't resist it - another Christmas card from me today - well Yule card to be exact. This one is inspired by the Paper Players who have a sketch for us to follow:
I've used an embossing folder for the holly as a background - the papers are from the new SU designer series papers. The Yule stamp is a very old one and I'm not sure where I got it from - the Christmas Tree is a Cherry Pie one and I love that it says Happy Christmas in lots of languages.
Another card to add to my growing Christmas Card Stash!
I am so in love with this little project - do you know when you just do something and just like it straight away - this is how I feel about this Squashed Card - not sure what else to call it really. I found something similar on a youtube tutorial ages ago and put it in my "to do" file - sadly I can't find the original author. I've done two examples - both baby cards which is not like me but I wanted to play with the bookcase builder and thought it would be great for this project.
I've done a pink version and a blue version. The sentiment on the front is from Colourful Seasons and it is just the perfect sentiment for this card. I think from the outside it looks quite plain until you open it up. You can do this type of card any size you like as long as you use a square piece of cardstock - mine started out as a 6" x 6" square.
I've used the Color Theory Designer Series Papers for both - the blues I've used Pacific Point and Crumb Cake for the Teddy. The blue ribbon is one of our gorgeous new ribbons - Stitched Edge Pacific Point.
The Pinks I have used the DSP also and Powder Pink and Berry Burst inks. Also a touch of enamel dots on both cards. The pink ribbon is Double Stitched Blushing Bride - another new ribbon.
I'm adding the pink one into The Paper Players challenge this week which is Tic Tac Toe and luckily mine fits the bill.
I'm also adding this into the As You See It Challenge - they want to know how you get your mojo back. I get mine my trawling through the internet and looking and listening to videos - it helps to listen to a voice when I'm on my own in my craft room - a voice other than mine that is!
Here's the video tutorial - I hope you make some and let me know if you do.
