GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT - 133

It's been a while since I joined in with the Global Design Project challenge - this week their challenge is a colour challenge and I only just sneaked in with a few hours to spare.

I love this colour combination - Tranquil Tide has never really been one of my go to greens even though I love the colour green so I am partial to a challenge that makes me use it.

There are a ton of inspirational cards out there for the Stampin Up Colourful Seasons set and although I love this chair which comes with the matching framelits I haven't used it an awful lot.  I've used it here in Tranquil Tide with a wash of Wink of Stella.  I've used the stamp for the background inks from Painter's Palette.  The Crumb Cake was stamped off so it looks a little softer as my Night of Navy ink is actually over 10 years old so not quite as bright as it should be!

I've used the little stamp from Bookcase Builder to make the grass at the bottom of the chair and the little dots from the same set to stamp around the outside.  The sentiment from Colourful Seasons is stamped in Crumb Cake and some rhinestones finish it off.  I'm not a lover of sayings finishing in a full stop which a lot of Stampin Up ones seem to do so I nearly always cover it with some sort of embellishment.  The butterfly is one I had in my stash that had been punched out with one of the SU butterfly punches, now retired.

ONE LAYER

I do find one layers very challenging but its nice to stretch yourself sometimes and know when to stop also.   The challenge over at Less is More is exactly that - one layer but also using a stencil.

I've been playing a lot with my new Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil so I've used it again here - stamping it in SU''s Daffodil Delight.  I then used SU's Bookcase Builder to make a matching pair of shelves featuring bottles and a plant in yellow to tie in with the challenge over at Time Out Challenges.  I've used Crushed Curry and Pear Pizzazz for the remaining colours and just kept it to those two colours.  I wanted the dots in the background to look a little like an old stone wall in an old farmhouse.

I had to then walk away so I didn't add anything else - especially a layer!!

BOOKCASE BUILDER - PRIMARY COLOURS

I'm digressing away from Christmas cards with my next take on the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge which is the following primary colours:

I do have all these colours but not sure I have ever used them all together and I did feel a bit stumped for trying a Christmas card with them.  So I got Stamipn Up's Bookcase Builder out of the cupboard. I think this is a rather under used stamp set and its images are great for so many things so here I've gone with a very simple card for a baby.  It's also a congratulations card for the challenge blog as they are celebrating their 5th year!

I've used SU's stitched framelits for the squares to make them look like building blocks and a simple sentiment inked in Pacific Point.

BOOKCASE BUILDER/COLOURFUL SEASONS - BABY CARDS

I am so in love with this little project - do you know when you just do something and just like it straight away - this is how I feel about this Squashed Card - not sure what else to call it really.  I found something similar on a youtube tutorial ages ago and put it in my "to do" file - sadly I can't find the original author.

I've done two examples - both baby cards which is not like me but I wanted to play with the bookcase builder and thought it would be great for this project.

I've done a pink version and a blue version.  The sentiment on the front is from Colourful Seasons and it is just the perfect sentiment for this card.  I think from the outside it looks quite plain until you open it up.

You can do this type of card any size you like as long as you use a square piece of cardstock - mine started out as a 6" x 6" square.

I've used the Color Theory Designer Series Papers for both - the blues I've used Pacific Point and Crumb Cake for the Teddy.  The blue ribbon is one of our gorgeous new ribbons - Stitched Edge Pacific Point.

The Pinks I have used the DSP also and Powder Pink and Berry Burst inks.  Also a touch of enamel dots on both cards.   The pink ribbon is Double Stitched Blushing Bride - another new ribbon.

I'm adding the pink one into The Paper Players challenge this week which is Tic Tac Toe and luckily mine fits the bill.

I'm also adding this into the As You See It Challenge - they want to know how you get your mojo back.  I get mine my trawling through the internet and looking and listening to videos - it helps to listen to a voice when I'm on my own in my craft room - a voice other than mine that is!

Here's the video tutorial - I hope you make some and let me know if you do.

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE #124 - FIONA'S MASCULINE "ANYTHING GOES" CHALLENGE

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

Image may contain: one or more people and text

I'm the hostess for the challenge this week at Watercooler Wednesday and this week is a Masculine "Anything Goes" challenge.

I don't actually have any masculine stamp sets per se so had to think outside the box for this one a bit.  I chose Bookcase Builder as I love all the images in that set and lots of them could be for a masculine theme.  Here I've taken two blue coloured cardstocks for the layers and stamped the stag head from the set just randomly over Soft Sky card stock with Basic Gray ink.  A touch of red for the heart just lifts the images a bit.  I've used the Stitched Framelits for the sentiment and the sentiment comes from Colourful Seasons.

Hubby is going to get this one one day when he's least expecting it because he does still make me smile, even after 36 years together.  Maybe I'll put it in with his lunch and embarass him at work - what do you think?

For all the challenge details and to share your project, visit Watercooler Wednesday Challenge by clicking the image at the top of the page.  We'd love to have you join us.

BOOKCASE BUILDER - BABY CARD - KYLIE BERTUCCI'S INTERNATIONAL BLOG HOP

There's another chance of joining Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Hop for June and the theme this month is BABY. I don't have many baby sets or stamps but the very versatile Bookcase Builder has come up trumps.

I decided to do a Waterfall Card.  The background paper was done using our sponge daubers and just using Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight.  A great way to make your background paper.  Just ink and stamp with the dauber.

I used the same three colours for the images of the bear, the ducks, the bottles and the pig and the sentiment when it is pulled down says Today's Little Moments Become Tomorrow's Precious Memories - a sentiment from this lovely set.

If you like my card I'd love you to vote for me - you can find the link here to vote for your favourite

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #119 - Judy's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

Our challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #119 - Judy's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

We all seem to get a bit stuck with men's cards unless the stamps are obviously masculine.  My card here hasn't really used any such stamps per se.  I have used some of the new lovely Wood Textures Designer Series Paper - coming soon - 1st June!!!  I've teamed it up with two sets - Sweet Home Thinlets and Bookcase Builder.  I find the images in the Bookcase Builder set so versatile and I just love this sentiment - I have a husband who is a hoarder!!!  Am I alone?

The little door opens to give you a welcome into the shed!

We hope to see you play along with us and I look forward to coming and visiting your blogs.

I am also putting this card in for voting at Kylie Bertucci's International Highlights blog hop - I hope it gets a few votes.  Click on the image below to be taken to all the entrants.  Click on this link below to place your vote

BEST BIRDS - INKSPIRATIONAL CHALLENGE

Oh dear its looking like a Best Birds week again!  It's not intentional, honest!

The challenge over at Inkspirational this week is yet another think outside the box challenge.  Just look at this gorgeous photo of this shop window - I would love to go in there and have a mooch around.  This is our inspiration for this week's challenge.

My card really doesn't do this lovely window justice - and I'm not completely happy with it - it didn't quite evolve as it did in my head lol!

I used some of the now retiring SU DSP in Serene Scenery for the circles and cut them out with the Stitched Framelits. I spotted the duck egg blue in the picture and so used Soft Sky cardstock and ink for my card. I've used the Bird out of the Birds and Blooms Framelits to represent all those lovely feathers in the window.  It was inked in Soft Sky and Early Espresso.  A touch of a Basic Pearl is his eye.

I then spotted all those lovely bottles and things in the window so I headed for my Bookcase Builder set and had a play with some of those images.

The Sentiment came from Thankful Thoughts.  The background stars came from the retiring Botanical Blooms.  I try not to use too many sets but I just needed to in this instance.

SIMPLY SKETCHED SATURDAY CHALLENGE - BOOKCASE BUILDER

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you. The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*. Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

The lovely Heidi Smith designed our sketch this month and here it is:

I chose to use Bookcase Builder - I love this set and it hasn't got used a lot.  I was pleased to see it was going to continue in the new catalogue because I think it has lots of potential.

I used some of the retiring Falling In Love Designer Series Paper - once I'd got over the fact that I couldn't cut this paper its been lovely to use.  The hearts at the top were cut out with the Everyday Jar Framelits and a backing of Whisper White added.  I used the Stitched Framelits - my favourites.

I don't usually do baby cards as I have no-one to send them to so maybe this one will sit and wait in my box just in case.....

BOOKCASE BUILDER MEETS PAINTER'S PALETTE

I do love this little set from Stampin' Up! and I'm surprised it hasn't been flooding the internet with examples.  I think its one of those slow burner sets that people will get to know over time - I hope it stays around for the next year.  Even if you don't use the bookcase shelves there are loads of images to play with for lots of occasions.

The challenge over at Inkspirational Challenge#131 this week is a picture challenge - very Alice in Wonderland. I really had to put my thinking head on for this one.

I've used Painter's Palette and that wonderful easel to make my image into a painting.  I've included the books, a plant and the lamp as inspiration from the picture.  The lamp has Wink of Stella all over it .... naturally.  The Cherry Cobbler cardstock was run through the Falling Petals embossing folder to give the hearts, which you can just see are dotted around the table in the main picture.

The sentiment is from Project Live Remember This. It's a retired set but I love the Project Life for adding great sentiments to cards.

DELICATE DETAILS - TIME OUT CHALLENGE 76

One of the wonderful sets in Sale-A-Bration is Delicate Details. I must admit I overlooked this set the first time I browsed through the catalogue but now I love using it.

This card started out as a piece of Very Vanilla and I inked it up - yep I went mad with the inks!  Pink isn't normally my colour but hey - it's nearly Valentine's so love is in the air!

I'm afraid I used quite a few stamp sets here for the various backgrounds but it does show how versatile all your sets can be.

After I had inked the background I used the Versamark to edge the paper with the Delicate Details and used White Embossing Powder. Do make sure to use an Embossing Buddy before hand otherwise all your inked paper will take the powder.

I used Painter's Palette and Best Birds for some of the background images.

The Elegant Butterfly Punch and the Bitty Butterfly punch were used for the butterflies.  I punched them out of Designer Series Paper Stacks  and then inked them up.  They have a touch of Dazzling Diamonds on their wings.

I used Jar of Love and Painter's Palette for the sentiments.  The little heart comes from Bookcase Builder - and there are a few Enamel Shapes on there also.  Phew!  Don't think this will be going in to a category challenge of Clean and Simple lol!

However, I am going to put it forward for the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping by and do leave a comment - I love to hear from you.

As usual all products can be purchased from me if you are in the UK or parts of Europe - just click on my Shop logo above or browse the SU catalogue shown on the side bar.

BOOKCASE BUILDER -BEST BIRDS - WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE

The Challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday this week is a Masculine Challenge.

I just happened to have this card made ready for my anniversary - which isn't until September but call me organised lol!

I wanted to recreate the idea of two tall bookcases, which you often see side by side so I did my card as a gate fold and stamped the wonderful images from the Bookcase Builder set.  I think this set is so versatile with the images you get and I'm still surprised you don't see a lot of it around at the moment.  I'm on a mission to give it some love!

I used the sentiment from Best Birds for the inside of the card.

 Thanks for stopping by.

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY - SIMPLE LOVE RED ON WHITE

It's been a while since I joined in with the challenges - Christmas got in the way.  Its nice to join in though because it keeps you motivated and challenges you to do things out of your comfort zone.

Today I'm joining in with the Watercooler Wednesday who want to challenge us to use Love Red on White - in a simple form.

I've used the Bookcase Builder again because I just love the sentiment in this stamp set.

The inks I've used are Real Red and Cherry Cobbler.  Very simple and very quick.

POOTLERS BLOG HOP - NEW CATALOGUE SPRING SUMMER 2017 BOOKCASE BUILDER

Hi Crafters and welcome to the Pootlers first blog hop of 2017 - I hope you are as excited about the new products in the catalogue and Sale-A-Bration as much as we are.

There are going to be a few sets which are definite winners in this catalogue and that I'm sure we will see all over blog land and Pinterest.  My card for you today though is one of the sets you may have overlooked or not been sure what to do with.  Bookcase Builder.  This is a fabulous set of 27 Polymer Stamps with lots of lovely images that can be used away from the Bookcase style and with 5 fabulous sentiments.

I've gone out of my own comfort zone here and produced a baby card. I can't remember the last time I made one -  as there aren't a lot of babies in my family at the moment I've not really needed an excuse to make one.  But these images were just too cute to leave unloved and unstamped!  I've written the words Baby by hand with a marker pen on the banner.

SUPPLIES

Cardstock -  Perfect Plum, Whisper White

Designer Series Paper - Blooms and Bliss

Inks - Early Espresso, Perfect Plum, Daffodil Delight, Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Rich Razzleberry Ombre

Accessories - Linen Thread, Enamel Shapes, Marker Pen (to write the words Baby on the bunting), Dimensionals, Wink of Stella, Stamp-a-ma-Jig to align the book shelves.

Rather than have next or previous buttons we've listed all the blogs below for you to go and have a look at some fabulous inspiration. Have fun on our blog hop.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope we have inspired you!

BOOKCASE BUILDER -GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT

I'm surprised that I haven't seen much use of this new set out of the Spring Summer Catalogue yet - I quite like this Bookcase Builder set and think that it will be great for scrapbooking pages as well as cards.

The first is for the Global Design Project challenge this week which has given us a colour challenge of Delightful Dijon. Silver and another colour. I don't have any cardstock in this colour but do have some ink.  I've chosen to add Early Espresso as my extra colour and a touch of DSP from the Designer Series Stacks which are so versatile.

Once again I've done a baby card which is very unlike me.  What a gorgeous sentiment this is though - it calls out to be used.  I just love these images in this set and even if you don't use it to make bookcase, this card should show how versatile this set is.  My touch of silver comes from the Dazzling Details Silver Sparkle on the Teddy's bow.

 SUPPLIES

Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Early Espresso

DSP - DSP stack

Inks - Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight

Accessories - Linen Thread, Dazzling Details Silver Sparkle,

The second example is a Valentine card.

It is certainly true in my house where our bookcases are groaning with my husband's flyfishing books and paraphanalia.  The simple sentiment says it all and hubby isn't one for lots of words so I think he'll love this.

 SUPPLIES:

Cardstock - Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler

DSP - Serene Scenery

Stampsets - Bookcase Builder, Birthday Blooms (for the hearts across the top)

Accessories - Linen Thread - Wink of Stella (on the trophy), Enamel Shapes, Dimensionals.

If you use this set - do pop by and let me know so I can come and have a look.

As usual all supplies can be purchased from my store if you are in the UK.

Click on the logo below to be taken direct to my store.
