ONE LAYER CARD

My card today is for two challenges - Less is More  - they are celebrating their 8th birthday so my card is for them to say thank you for all their hard work.

and CAS Colours and Sketches

I used some SU Very Vanilla card stock for my base.  The sentiment in the middle is from SU Thankful Thoughts inked in Fresh Fig. I used Mint Macaron and Crumb Cake inks to add the flourishes at the top and the bottom with the Timeless Textures set.  A few sequins just finished off the card.

I like trying to make one layers as over at my Facebook Group The Joy of Sets we have a RAK group and we send cards to our crafting friends all over the world - the one layer's mean less postage and less damage to the card.

GIVING THANKS

It's late here in the UK and once again I can't get to sleep.  Hubby is fast asleep as he works so hard during the day that as soon as his head hits the pillow he's gone.  I then toss and turn so this evening I decided to come into my craft room and do something productive.

One of the sets I love from Stampin Up is Thankful Thoughts - so often the word stamp sets don't get as much attention as the ones with the images but this great set is always my go-to for thank you cards.  I love all the different sentiments.  My card today uses one I've never actually used before.  I'm not even sure that 'fabulosity' is a word lol!

I was thrilled then to see that What Will You Stamp challenge #174 has this set as their example this week.  I've wanted to play along for ages with them but I've never had any of the sets they've chosen.

I've used some of the new DSP Share What You Love which was gifted to me by a member of my Joy of Sets Facebook Group.  The sentiment for this card then is right up her street and will be winging its way across the sea to the US to say a big Thank You to her for her generosity to me and others in the group.  She has become known as our RAK queen and her name is Margaret Reuter.  I've added a touch of the new twine and used Bermuda Bay for my ink.

KINDA ELECTIC - COLLAGE STYLE

So I have a new stamp set and am playing with it like mad - I'm late to the Kinda Eclectic by Stampin' Up! party as it's a retired set - it passed me by in the catalogue and it was only looking through Pinterest that I saw some cards made with it and realised what a lovely versatile set it is.

I've done a CAS card with it and thought I'd do more of a collage look to the set - my card is going in to the Global Design Project challenge this week which is Bring Me Sunshine.  You can't get much better than that huge sun stamp which is part of the set.

My colours on this card are all Stampin Up inks - I used Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Fresh Fig and a touch of Crumb Cake and Soft Suede for the edges and the sentiment.  I used the Banner Framelits to cut out the sentiment which comes from SU Thankful Thoughts, and you can just see the background of the stamped circles which come with this set.  I still have my SU butterfly punches which retired a while back but which fit these butterflies perfectly.  A touch of basic pearls and gold thread finish off the card.

I'm off to do some more playing with this lovely set....I hope you don't get bored seeing too much of it.

AUTUMN DAYS

Well, it should be spring here in the UK but it feels more like Autumn -and not a good Autumn at that! Dull, wet, miserable, the dark days of winter are hanging around far too much. Maybe that's what drew me to doing a more autumnal feel to my card today.

This is the challenge over at As You See It  #173 for this week - a wealth of possibility.

I decided to use a very old SU set - Autumn Days.  I started with inking the background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Antique Linen, Old Paper, then added some SU Pear Pizzazz and Crushed Curry.  The sentiment stamp is a very old one from Laura Ashley of all people.  It's a word stamps which says -

"Find your inspiration anywhere, roaming the English countryside, gathering wildflowers, reading a cherished gardening book, watching birds flutter in the sky, following their trail that leads through the woods, sipping tea and watching the sun rise, strolling through the garden amongst the roses, sitting on a swing built for two and watching the world around you."

How idyllic is that imagery.  And just as I was reading it our local Cockerel Pheasant made himself known with that raucous cry they have and there he was in the garden.  The dogs, being gundogs, go mad when they hear him cry but they don't scare him - not one bit.  So there really was no other alternative than to put him on this card for today.

After stamping the word stamp in Tranquil Tide I heat embossed the pheasant with SU brown embossing powder.  He was then coloured in with SU Markers in golds, greens and reds.  I stamped some of the grasses from the set in stamped off SU Crumb Cake and added some Burlap Ribbon and enamel dots.  The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts and is cut out with Banners Framelits.

Thanks for stopping by - I appreciate reading your comments.
