MOVING ALONG WITH THE TIMES CHALLENGE BLOG DESIGN TEAM MEMBER

I'm delighted to be on another Challenge Blog as Design Team Member under the brilliant supervision of Helen Nile - welcome to Moving Along with the Times which Helen has recently taken charge of.  Our theme for this month of September is Butterflies and/or Dragonflies.

My Tag started off on the gel press with a print taken from a fern taken from my garden.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Paint on the press to get a faint impression. I then added extra stamping in the background.  The butterflies are all from Tim Holtz Scribbly Butterflies dies which were cut from another gel press playtime using Tim Holtz inks.

I added various stamping and ephemera and added some to some linen which was affixed with some brass brads - remember those?  I finished off the tag by scribbling around the edge as I can't sew.

I'm adding this into the following:

Tag Along - things with wings
Dragonfly Dreams - Lots of Layers

LOVE TO CRAFT - ANYTHING GOES

Welcome back to another Love to Craft - and we look forward to seeing all your wonderful creations.

It's another tag from me - I was lucky to win a set of Tag Dies from Brenda's new Tag Challenge so I just have to put them to good use.

It's another play with the gel press for me for this tag and the background was created with an Aallandcreate Stencil - this was the residue of ink left on the stencil after the press on the gel press and just stamped off onto to some extra paper so as not to lose the ink.  You can just see the faint blue marks.  I then added some background stamping and the star of the show - the poppy stamps - are from Tracy Evans - one of her old sets.  Alison Bomber of W0rdsandp1ctures has inspired me to use real flowers on my work so these poppy seeds are from the Welsh poppies in my garden.

As well as gluing them on I fixed them with some twine and a touch of linen which has been stapled.  I then added the word Nature to hide the staples.  I added a butterfly which had been created out of a mood board - a play time of adding stamping and colours and then cutting out shapes - great fun. The sentiment came from Tim Holtz Ideaology snippets book.

INSPIRATION STATION - APRIL

Welcome back to another challenge from Inspiration Station. I was inspired by the globe in our picture to create this mixed media tag using stamps by Bipasha BK from Aallandcreate.

I used a stencil from Tim Holtz and some texture paste to create some of the background.  Lots of grungy inks and stamping to go with the great images which I stamped on tissue paper.  This allowed the globe and phone image to be seen rather than cutting them out.

UNDER THE SEA

I'm playing along with Retro Rubber challenge this week and they have a Tic Tac Toe grid to play with.  I chose the middle row of pattern paper, the ocean, and texture.

I started off my tag by using some cardboard paper from a box and distressed the edges.  I added a few coats of white Gesso and then added some inks from Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Weathered Wood, Speckled Egg and Liquitex Acrylic Ink in Turquoise Deep.  I added some white acrylic paint to the edges.

Once it was dry I added some Tim Holtz Crackle Texture paste using a circle stencil.  I stamped on the images from an old set of stamps by Kaisercraft called Mermaid Tails.  Sadly there is no mermaid image in the set which would have been nice.  I stamped some of the stamps onto some Kaisercraft patterened paper called Beach Shack and added some of the matching stickers at the bottom.

he words are cut out of an old dictionary.  I coloured some ribbon with Distress Ink in matching colours.

I'm also adding this into the following challenges
CRAFT - AG
Krafty Chicks - Stamping
Shopping our Stash - where will you go?  To the beach for me!  I've been missing the sea

MIXED MEDIA TAG

I've only recently discovered Chocolate Baroque stamps and have loved playing with the ones I got.  This one is called Mushroom House and is a great one for water colouring.

I started out by cutting out my tag using a Tim Holtz Tag die out of water colour card stock.  I inked it in Distress Ink Weathered Wood and added Black Soot with the TH wood stencil - and I added some script writing in the same ink.

The mushroom house was inked in Black Archival by Ranger.  I added colour with Distress Inks and Crayons and an aqua pen using Frayed Burlap, Festive Berries, Barn Door, Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw and Hickory Smoke.  I cut out the image and layered it onto the tag with some Liquitex Mat Gel.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and this was inked in Ranger Archival in Vermillon and cut out with some deckle scissors.

I'm adding this into the following challenges:

Creative Fingers - Anything Goes
Lil Red Wagon - Tag You're It
More Mixed Media - include Red

I'm delighted that my tag was chosen as one of the top 3 in My Time To Craft

JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - HARVEST TIME

Autumn is my favourite time of the year so I was delighted that Angie McKenzie chose this as our theme for our Joy of Sets Blog Hop this month.

I've used a Stampin Up set here called Country Home - still current and such a lovely set - I'm so glad I got it - I love that milk churn.  I have a few ornamental ones in my garden.  I stamped the churn and the flowers first and then masked them off whilst I turned ot the rest of the tag.

I used the Distress Ink colours shown in the picture - mixing until I was happy with the effect - I also added a touch of Mustard Seed.  I added some TH Distress Crackle paste which had been coloured with Walnut Stain and added with a Tim Holtz dot stencil. I used various TH stencils to add interest to the background including a splatter stencil, letter stencils and a Stampers Anonymous script stamp.  The flowers in the churn were also coloured in with the distress inks. I used the SU blender pens in Grey to colour in the churn.  I used the tiny TH letter dies to make the word thanks.  The quotes are from Tim Holtz Idealogy sticker book and the lower sentiment is a stamp from Visible Image.

JOY OF SETS TIC TAC TOE #JOSTTT022

Welcome to another month's Tic Tac Toe Grid from The Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe.

Our new Design Team member Beverly Cole has chosen our grid for us this month - what a beauty - I hope you have fun with this one. I chose to do a Christmas Tag for my project and had great fun making this one - I chose Ribbon, Window, Glitter.

I started off with a Tim Holtz tag and added a layer of TH Collage medium and Dina Wakley Gesso to add texture.  I then covered the tag with some Distress Crayons in Hickory Smoke, Vintage Photo - I used a TH stencil to remove some of the crayons with a wipe to leave some white parts.  The window is an old TH die and it was given the aged look with the Distress Crayons and some Gesso for snow.

The numbers and letters are TH dies.  The stars at the bottom is a TH 3d Impresslits folder - I love the way these emboss and cut out at the same time.  There is lots of glitter on the tag but I'm not sure it's showing up here. The ribbons were from my stash - black lace and grey satin ribbon.
