CREATIVE ARTISTE MIXED MEDIA - #127

Back to another month's creativity with Creative Artiste Mixed Media challenge - As a gentle reminder to be considered as one of our monthly winners you must use at least 3 different mediums on your project. 

I'm sharing another one of my tags from my tag book.  I think I may nearly be finished - I have completed 8 tags which is 16 sides and it's all looking quite bulky now - I do have 2 spare tags but I'm not sure whether to add them to the book. Once I'm finished I will show you all the tags complete.

I always add some white Gesso to the base of the tags - even though they are a thick kraft card I need to know it can cope with all the extra mediums I'm going to throw at it.

I added some Paper Artsy paint in Seaglass  and then went over it with some Texture Paste and a stencil.  I added some stamping from Alison Bomber and Bipasha BK from Aallandcreate in Versafine Pinecone.

I die cut some of Tim Holtz Funky Nature dies and inked them in Ground Espresso.  The butterfly is a free paper from Shawn Petite and I added some extra stamping to her wings.  I cut her on to some harder cardstock to give her some more strength and added some cheesecloth under her antennae.  There are extra papers and stamping underneath and then I used a sentiment from Craft-0-Clock which is just perfect for me as I tend to look back not forward.

MOVING ALONG WITH THE TIMES CHALLENGE BLOG DESIGN TEAM MEMBER

I'm delighted to be on another Challenge Blog as Design Team Member under the brilliant supervision of Helen Nile - welcome to Moving Along with the Times which Helen has recently taken charge of.  Our theme for this month of September is Butterflies and/or Dragonflies.  

My Tag started off on the gel press with a print taken from a fern taken from my garden.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Paint on the press to get a faint impression. I then added extra stamping in the background.  The butterflies are all from Tim Holtz Scribbly Butterflies dies which were cut from another gel press playtime using Tim Holtz inks.

I added various stamping and ephemera and added some to some linen which was affixed with some brass brads - remember those?  I finished off the tag by scribbling around the edge as I can't sew.

I was inspired by one of Tracy Evan's videos to get out the Gel print again and play along.  I kept to a palette of Versafine Clair Verdant and Warm Breeze for my main colours with just a touch of Distress Ink in Mustard Seed.  I used one of Tracy's stamps called Flutter.  Once I'd made my gell print background I pressed the stamp on to it and then took my image.  It looked great - the only thing was the words and numbers were all a mirror image.  Note to self - don't use stamps with words or numbers lol!  As it's just in the background you can't really see that they are all reflected.

I stamped the image again and added a Tim Holtz butterfly die cut out of the spare gelli print paper.  I added string behind and some Nuovo drops. The spring stamp is a very old Stampin Up one.   A touch of green washi tape from my stash and some very old SU o'rings finished off the tag.

BUTTERFLY TAG

We have had a touch of snow here again in the UK - some parts have it quite bad but we just have a smattering here in Hampshire - enough though to warrant staying indoors and crafting.

My tag today fits in with the challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Monday which is Resist.  I used Distress Oxide in Chipped Sapphire and Fossilised Amber for my background and then used a Tim Holtz stencil 129 and lifted off the ink with a baby wipe.  The background can just about be seen underneath the butterfly.  I must admit I find it hard making backgrounds and then almost covering them all up - practice I suppose.

The butterfly is a die from Tim Holtz - I had a piece of background I’d worked on which had been stencilled with some Distress Paste coloured with Walnut Stain Ink and I used this to cut out the butterfly - it adds some texture.  I then coloured it with the sample Distress Oxide inks of Sapphire and Amber but added some Liquitex Liquid Ink in Gold to give it more of a shimmer on the amber part of the wings.  The sentiment is cut out of an old dictionary I use for sayings.

I added some washi tape from my stash as it shows butterflies and finished off with some ribbon and some copper thread from Stampin Up underneath the butterfly.
