HAND STAMPED SENTIMENTS # IC406

We are all about the hearts at Hand Stamped Sentiments for this challenge.  My eye was drawn to that wonderful black cat  - being a bit of a cat lady.  I rummaged among my supplies as I knew I had a wonderful cat stamp I hadn't used in years made by Cherry Pie Art Stamps.  Yep there it was - keep a thing for 20 years and it comes in useful!

I started by stamping the cat stamp and added the border around it.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Spun Sugar and then added some hearts and a stencil in Picked Raspberry.  I added a touch of script with some stamped off black ink.  The love hearts are from a very old Stampin Up set called Sweet Talk from 2004!  Very nearly 20 years old.  I stamped them and used a heart die to cut them out.  I added a touch of Nuovo Drops at the top and bottom.  The little added sentiment is from Tim Holtz Ideaology - hubby will be getting this Valentine's.

I'm adding this into the following:

SUYPG - AG

A 4x4 card

This is a new size card for me - a 4 x 4 as asked for by Retro Rubber in their challenge this week. It is a tic tac toe and I chose the vertical line of 4 x 4, embossing and twine.

I started out by using Distress Inks to create my inky background.  I added a very old stamp by Cherry Pie Art Stamps in Black Versafine and then used an old SU embossing folder Painted Texture to emboss it all.  The stamp must be at least 15 years old!  I added extra stamping around the edges, added some twine and some pearls and layered it onto coloured cardstock.

I'm adding this into the following challenge:

SWEET STAMPIN - UNUSUAL HAIR COLOUR

A tricky challenge for you all this week from Sweet Stampin - Unusual Hair Colour - to be honest what hair colour doesn't get used these days - I actually have a friend who has her hair the turquoise colour my middle lady has! I'm not that brave!

For my card this week I have used some very old Cherry Pie Art Stamps and coloured the three muses of Art, Love and Beauty with their various unusual hair colours.  All the background stamps used are Cherry Pie also using Tim Holtz inks and a few of his old stamps.

LISTEN TO YOUR HEART

My tag today was inspired by The Library Challenge No 76 and this image.

I really wanted to try and incorporate that face behind the words. Rummaging through my old stamps I found this old one from Cherry Pie Art Stamps and knew it would be perfect.  I started off my tag by using some blue cardstock as a tag and covering it in Gesso.  I stamped the face image in Versamark and embossed with TH Speckled Egg embossing powder.   I added Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and stenciled with some Frayed Burlap.  I used a Stampin Up hearts mask for the hearts stamping them in Festive Berries.  I added some more old Tim Holtz stamps.

The piece of ribbon at the bottom is from Stampin Up and was just a tiny piece I had in my ribbon box.

SWEET STAMPIN - IT'S A KIND OF MAGIC

We are celebrating J K Rowling's birthday over at Sweet Stampin - I know - how's that for a challenge!  My children were at the right age when Harry Pothead (as he is known in our house lol) came on the scene, so we read the books, watched the films, even had the board game!

What amazed me was how clever she was writing all this for children when a lot of it is part of every day life for Wiccans or witches.  Magic is all around and isn't the Disney type with witches with warts and flying broomsticks and wands.

So my card is a bit more serious take on the whole idea of Magic using my beloved Cherry Pie Art stamps.  The circular writing with the dragonfly is the Wiccan creed - Every mind the rule of three - three times what you do to others will come back on your threefold - in other words, be kind and harm none.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

I'm joining in with TGIF Challenge Christmas In July with another card inspired by one of their Design Team Elizabeth Price.- I hope it's ok to post two!  I loved the way her card looked and the fact that she said it probably couldn't be repeated as it was a question of add this then that.  That's exactly what happened with my card.

I went for an unusual palette for Christmas as I normally do reds and greens so this was completely out of my norm.

I started off by using masking off a part for the moon then using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Fossilized Amber and Pumice Stone to create the background.  I sponged the edges to give it the vintage look.  The script type stamp is an old Cherry Pie one and I inked it in stamped off Blackberry Bliss by SU.  I added some gold pen to parts of the ancient script.  I  inked some of the trees from SU Winter Woods in the Pumice Stone to give them a soft effect.  The trees were cut out of Very Vanilla card stock and covered in ink and a touch of white gel pen for snow.  The ribbon and flowers were from my stash.  I wrapped some bronze thread around the card before sticking it to some SU Crumb Cake.  I also added the Reindeer from Gina K Designs and the snowflakes from the same set called Season of Joy.  I love how this turned out and may well keep this colour palette for this year's cards.

SWEET STAMPIN - WONDERFUL WOMEN

Now how is this for a challenge from Sweet Stampin? Wonderful Women - I'm sure we all have a few of those in our lives that deserve a mention - the trick is adding them to a card!

For  my choice I went with an old stamp from Cherry Pie Art Stamps which shows the Mona Lisa.  Arguably one of the most famous women in the world just for sitting there almost smiling. I have seen this painting in real life and was surprised at how small it really is!

I started off the card by sponging my card with some Tim Holtz DistressInks.  I then used an old set from Tim Holtz which has the image of the Eiffel Tower on it keeping in with the French theme.  I used a stitched thinlet to cut out the image of the Mona Lisa and poppe dher up on dimensionals.  The word Amazing is from SU and I cut it three times and layered it on itself and then added some Dazzling Diamonds as she is a dazzler of a painting.

I'm looking forward to your take on this challenge.

SWEET STAMPIN - MAY THE 4TH.......

Those of us of a certain age know the words that follow May the 4th...... even if you are not a Star Wars Fan! It's actually the day before my birthday too!  So our challenge over at Sweet Stampin is any space themed card.  I love this challenge group I'm part of because Wendy always challenges us and I like to try and rise to the challenge and think outside the box.

I started my card using some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks - I used the following colours:  Salty Ocean, Fossilised Amber, Picked Raspberry, and Peacock Feathers.  Using a sponge I simply added the colours to some water colour paper.  Once they were all added in no particular order I added some water and let them all merge.  I used my heatgun to just fix the colours.  I then added some Tim Holtz Weathered Wood and Black ink all over those colours. It gives a sort of Galaxy Night sky effect.  When it was all dry I added some Liquid pearls and let them dry.

The Moon stamp from Cherry Pie Art Stamps has been embossed in Silver embossing powder.  The La Luna and Light stamps are also from Cherry Pie.  The sentiment at the bottom is from an old SU stamp set In This World.

I then layered this onto some silver paper to continue the shine.

I hope you will join in with the challenge and challenge yourselves to join in with the theme.  I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

THINGS WITH WINGS

Over at my Facebook Group The Joy of Sets we have just done an ATC swap with the theme of Wings.  The challenge over at Try It On Tuesday this week is also Wings.

I used Tim Holtz distress inks for the backgrounds and various stamps I had in my stash.  I think the Angel is from Cherry Pie Art Stamps - I can't remember where the little girl stamp is from, and the butterfly is from Stampin Up In This World. The background words stamp is another old one from my stash called Manuscript Background from Hero Arts.
