RAINBOW CARD

The challenge over at Try It On Tuesday is colours of the rainbow.  I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire to do a rainbow card out of scraps of card stock - something we all have lots of I'm sure.  This was such a simple technique I'm going to be doing a lot more of them.

After I had glued all my different strips I cut the card stock down to the size I wanted and glued it to the base.  I then used one of the SU thinlets from Amazing You for the word Celebrate and a butterfly thinlet for the butterly. I added some rainbow coloured enamel dots to the butterfly.

I'm also entering this into the Less is More Celebrations challenge #399

TRY STAMPING ON TUESDAY - SKETCH #385

We have a Sketch for you over at Try Stamping On Tuesday this week -

I wanted to do a Christmas Card with my sketch and went with the Season Layers Framelits and the snowflakes.  I've not used these very much.  I kept them simple with a touch of Wink of Stella to make them sparkle.  The sentiment is from an old SU set Warmth and Wonder.  I seem to use this sentiment a lot - I think it goes really well with snow type cards.

The background paper is from Kaisercraft and I've added some rhinestones also just to keep the sparkle going.

I look forward to seeing what you all do with this sketch.

BLACK AND WHITE

I don't often do Black and White cards but I was inspired by the photo challenge at Angie Mackenzie's Facebook Challenge Group Nature's INKspirations for this month.  She gave the option of the photo in black and white or colour but I went for the black and white and added a touch of grey.  I'm also including this in the Try It On Tuesday challenge which is asking for black and white and one colour.

Image may contain: plant, flower, outdoor, nature and text

I chose to use Dandelion Wishes for my card - I think it lends itself to monochrome cards.  I used a heart framelit to cut out the heart and then used it as a stencil to ink in the heart.  I used an old SU colour Going Gray - I've had it 15 years so far and it's still going.

I used some Dovecraft Pigment black ink to stamp the dandelions and the sentiment.  I used some SU faceted gems just to add a bit of interest so it's not quite so flat.  I then layered it onto grey card stock rather than black just to give it a softer look.

I'm also adding this into the Sweet Stampin Challenge blog who have asked us to use stencils.

BOOK PAPER

An unusual title you may think but it's the challenge over at Try It On Tuesday this week - I love books and, like most, hate to think of destroying them but I do have a little book I picked up in a charity shop for 10p which I use for crafting with.  It's an old tourist book of Rome from the 1950's.  Hubby loves Rome and was devastated when he saw me cutting it up!  But I'm giving it new life!

As it's to do with Rome I chose to use the colour purple - they liked purple in Roman times - especially the Emperors.  I've used the flower from an old Stampin Up set called A Touch of Nature.  The background paper was torn and then sponged and inked in another old SU colour More Mustard.  A touch of Lace Ribbon and some gold thread adds to the vintage look of this card.

GUEST DESIGNER - TRY IT ON TUESDAY

I'm delighted to have been asked to be a Guest Designer over at Try It On Tuesday - for their Quotation theme.

I chose to use Stampin Up's retired In This World stamp set for my card.  The little chair reminds me of one my dear mum use to own and I wanted to add it to my card.  It was cut out and embellished with some tiny SU pearls.  The brad is also a retired SU antique brad with some retired ribbons.  The Quotation came from Kaisercraft Memory Lane paper and I thought it was apt for us crafters.

THINGS WITH WINGS

Over at my Facebook Group The Joy of Sets we have just done an ATC swap with the theme of Wings.  The challenge over at Try It On Tuesday this week is also Wings.

I used Tim Holtz distress inks for the backgrounds and various stamps I had in my stash.  I think the Angel is from Cherry Pie Art Stamps - I can't remember where the little girl stamp is from, and the butterfly is from Stampin Up In This World. The background words stamp is another old one from my stash called Manuscript Background from Hero Arts.

PARIS BOUND

I have a bit of a soft spot for Paris - on my first wedding anniversary back in 1986 (!) my darling hubby took me there as a complete surprise. The weather was kind, we sat on the left bank opposite Notre Dame drinking red wine and eating a baguette and fromage. We saw the sights, sailed the Bateau Mouche, visited Folie Bergere, gazed at the Mona Lisa and had a thoroughly lovely weekend. Three years ago our daughter sent us back there for our Christmas present - January was not quite so kind weather wise but Paris still had its charms.

Why am I telling you all this?  It's because the challenge over at Try It On Tuesday is Destinations.

Rummaging in my craft cupboard I found an old faithful set by Tim Holtz which hasn't been used in a while - it's main image is the Eiffel Tower. I used a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and decided to do a tag rather than a card.  I used some of my new Tim Holtz distress inks for the background, Tattered Rose, Bundled Sage and Antique Linen.  I used SU Fresh Fig for the tower stamp.  I also used an old SU stamp from Project Life Remember This which says Adventure Bound.  The little tag has the perfume bottle from an old SU Set A Little Love .

ANYONE FOR TEA?

The challenge over at The Paper Players #PP392 this week is a theme challenge of a tea party

I've used an old retired set from Stampin' Up for my card which also includes the thinlets - the set is called A Nice Cuppa and its a fabulous little set.  I've kept my card to three SU Colours, Pool Party, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry.  I've used some of the framelits from Colourful Seasons and Jar of Love for the cut out flowers.  Some DSP and the beautiful Rich Razzleberry ribbon adds a softness to the card.

I'm also adding this into the following challenges

Double D challenge this week which is May Flowers.

Time Out Challenge - what better way to celebrate friendship and flowers than with a cup of tea!

Try It On Tuesday - which ask for Stencils or Die Cuts

Retro Rubber Challenge - which has asked for flowers

CIRCLES

Do you ever feel as though you are going round in circles? My life is a bit like that at the moment. The Try It On Tuesday challenge actually has circles as their theme this week.  Watercooler Wednesday has a Feminine Anything Goes. Moo Mania and More is a new challenge to me and their theme is Feminine.

I've pulled out my Cherry Pie Stamps again and a sentiment from SU Beautiful You for this card.  It was inked up with Tim Holtz distress inks and some SU Fresh Fig.  Layered onto some purple cardstock - purple isn't a colour I use very often but I think it shows off these colours really well.  The addition of a vintage style circle brad finishes off this card.  THere is a touch of Wink of Stella on the image of the woman but I don't think it shows very well on camera.
