AVANT-GARDEN BOXES YOU TUBE TUTORIAL

I've been playing with using the Avant-Garden stamp set on some boxes - originally Sam Hammond's boxes from way back.  I've given them a bit of a revamp with some up-dated products.

A normal piece of A4 cardstock gives you enough for a box and an extra card.

SPECIAL OFFER FOR MY YOU TUBE SUBSCRIBERS

Check out my YouTube tutorial as to how I made these.  All of my You Tube subscribers are put into a draw each month and one winner will be chosen at random to receive the products I have made for that month!

POOTLERS BLOG HOP - NEW CATALOGUE SPRING SUMMER 2017 BOOKCASE BUILDER

Hi Crafters and welcome to the Pootlers first blog hop of 2017 - I hope you are as excited about the new products in the catalogue and Sale-A-Bration as much as we are.

There are going to be a few sets which are definite winners in this catalogue and that I'm sure we will see all over blog land and Pinterest.  My card for you today though is one of the sets you may have overlooked or not been sure what to do with.  Bookcase Builder.  This is a fabulous set of 27 Polymer Stamps with lots of lovely images that can be used away from the Bookcase style and with 5 fabulous sentiments.

I've gone out of my own comfort zone here and produced a baby card. I can't remember the last time I made one -  as there aren't a lot of babies in my family at the moment I've not really needed an excuse to make one.  But these images were just too cute to leave unloved and unstamped!  I've written the words Baby by hand with a marker pen on the banner.

SUPPLIES

Cardstock -  Perfect Plum, Whisper White

Designer Series Paper - Blooms and Bliss

Inks - Early Espresso, Perfect Plum, Daffodil Delight, Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Rich Razzleberry Ombre

Accessories - Linen Thread, Enamel Shapes, Marker Pen (to write the words Baby on the bunting), Dimensionals, Wink of Stella, Stamp-a-ma-Jig to align the book shelves.

Rather than have next or previous buttons we've listed all the blogs below for you to go and have a look at some fabulous inspiration. Have fun on our blog hop.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope we have inspired you!

BOOKCASE BUILDER -GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT

I'm surprised that I haven't seen much use of this new set out of the Spring Summer Catalogue yet - I quite like this Bookcase Builder set and think that it will be great for scrapbooking pages as well as cards.

The first is for the Global Design Project challenge this week which has given us a colour challenge of Delightful Dijon. Silver and another colour. I don't have any cardstock in this colour but do have some ink.  I've chosen to add Early Espresso as my extra colour and a touch of DSP from the Designer Series Stacks which are so versatile.

Once again I've done a baby card which is very unlike me.  What a gorgeous sentiment this is though - it calls out to be used.  I just love these images in this set and even if you don't use it to make bookcase, this card should show how versatile this set is.  My touch of silver comes from the Dazzling Details Silver Sparkle on the Teddy's bow.

 SUPPLIES

Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Early Espresso

DSP - DSP stack

Inks - Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight

Accessories - Linen Thread, Dazzling Details Silver Sparkle,

The second example is a Valentine card.

It is certainly true in my house where our bookcases are groaning with my husband's flyfishing books and paraphanalia.  The simple sentiment says it all and hubby isn't one for lots of words so I think he'll love this.

 SUPPLIES:

Cardstock - Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler

DSP - Serene Scenery

Stampsets - Bookcase Builder, Birthday Blooms (for the hearts across the top)

Accessories - Linen Thread - Wink of Stella (on the trophy), Enamel Shapes, Dimensionals.

If you use this set - do pop by and let me know so I can come and have a look.

As usual all supplies can be purchased from my store if you are in the UK.

JANUARY BLUES? - AVANT-GARDEN

Good Morning Bloggers, is it just me with the January blues?  I'm guessing it isn't - I have to admit January is my least favourite month of the year.  My kids know this also so my Christmas present from my daughter was a spa day last Monday and a joint present for my husband from our son is a weekend away in a few weeks time.  They know me so well.

These "blues" seem to be coming across in my crafting - I'm not normally a blues colour sort of girl.  Reds and greens are my colours which is why Christmas suits me so well.

I must say though I've absolutely loved playing with these three blues I picked at random and they go so well together.

I'm playing with one of the Sale-A-Bration FREE sets - Avant-Garden.  Can I let you into a little secret - its my favourite out of the whole Sale-A-Bration catalogue.  I wonder what your's is?  Sometimes it takes other people to show us what a stamp set can do which is why we Demos are here after all!

Anyway - I'm blathering on - here's my card!  I don't know whether its the dull weather we are having here in the UK - promise of snow perhaps here in the south but its very dull and that's reflecting on the colours of this card.  Honest, in real life its much more vibrant and the Wink of Stella just glistens - like snow!

Hmm - not liking this picture at all - I will have to try some more shots and re-do it if I can.  I think its time to invest in a white box maybe?

I've put a list of the supplies below for what I used.  Sorry to say I have used something that is no longer available in those Antique Brads.  I love brads - its a shame they seem to be out of favour at the moment but these are just too lovely to sit in a box and I'm sure some of you will have them anyway.  Its not all about using what's current - shh don't tell anyone I said that! lol!

SUPPLIES

Cardstock - Island Indigo - Very Vanilla

Stamp Set - Avant-Garden

Inks - Island Indigo, Mint Macaron, Pool Party

Accessories - Linen Thread, Stitched Framelits, Antique Brads, Wink of Stella

As usual all supplies can be purchased from my website - click on the logo below.

TUESDAY'S CHALLENGE - BEAUTIFUL YOU, PAINTER'S PALETTE

Every Tuesday we have a live video call with our Team Leader to discuss goals, topics, Toot Toots (what we've all done well in for the week) and other general SU stuff.

This week though we were set a challenge to pull out two random colours from our inks, without looking, and make a card.  The colours I pulled out were Pear Pizzazz and Pumpkin Pie.  Funny that they should both have been 'P's because I am a slightly disorganised crafter and they are not in any way ordered alphabetically or in colour sections.

I went with the Beautiful You and Painter's Palette combination of stamps cause I'm loving playing with this set.  I also used the DSP stack papers too.  The banner came from the Banner Framelits and a touch of watercolouring and the use of the Stitched Framelits and this was a really quick card to do.

I actually loved this combination of colours.

I challenge you to do the same and do pop by and let me know what colours you got and a link so I can come and see.

BEAUTIFUL YOU - REFLECTION TECHNIQUE

I, along with thousands of others no doubt, love this new set Beautiful You from the Spring Summer Catalogue 2017.  It was the first set that caught my eye and reminded me of the old SU stamp set Summer By The Sea.

My card today shows the image in the rain and I think the reflection technique is very apt to use with this image.  The sentiment couldn't be better.  Sometimes cards like these are handy to have in our stash, just in case they are ever needed to give someone a boost when they are feeling down.  I've used the Stitched Framelits for the sentiment - love these!!!!

I've also torn my paper and edged it with some Pacific Point blue ink to give it the distressed look.

Ive also used the new Watercolour pencils and a touch of Wink of Stella.  The background is from the new Avant-Garden set which is a Sale-a-Bration FREE set!!!

If you would like to know how to do the reflection technique I will be running a workshop at my home in Andover, UK in January.  Information is on my website.

BEAUTIFUL YOU, PAINTER'S PALETTE

As soon as I saw the Beautiful You stamp set I had the idea of putting it together with the Painter's Palette - one of my favourite sets of the current annual catalogue.

I love how this one has turned out and I can see I'm going to be making a few similar ones with slight variations with this stamp set.

This one is nice and vibrant in Melon Mambo - just what you need on a dull dreary January afternoon here in the UK.

It is on a cardstock base of Early Espresso, with some DSP from the Designer Series Pack - I love these papers - they are so versatile and can be used time and again.  I've coloured her in using the new watercolour pencils and her hat is in Early Espresso with a touch of Melon Mambo dots on it to give it that polka dot look.

Once again the Stitched Framelits have made an appearance.  The square ones work so well with the easel from Painter's Palette.  Popped up on dimensionals it really looks as though she is in a painting.

A Wink of Stella on her dress and some Enamel Shapes and Stitched Ribbon in Melon Mambo finish the card off.

As usual all supplies can be purchased from my website - click below or follow the links on the side of this post.

AVANT GARDEN - SALE-A-BRATION - PLUS SPECIAL JANUARY OFFER OF A FREE STAMP SET

Hi everyone - I dont know if its just me but its taking me a while to get back to normal after the Christmas Festivities.  I always find it tricky to be back on my own in the house after everyone has gone back to work - it used to be school but my little ones are now grown.  My son is back home after Uni though and it is nice to have him still around.  He's an archaeologist and was very fortunate to be able to find a job in his chosen field after studying it at Uni - not many do.

Anyway I digress.  Luckily the clever people at Stampin' Up! know how we will be feeling after the Holiday season and have given us lots of lovely new products to play with.  Some of them are even free if you spend £45.

FREE STAMP SET

Before I tell you about my card, let me just tell you about a special offer I am holding throughout January 2017. If you purchase a stamp set to the value of £25 you get to choose one of my retired used sets absolutely free whilst stocks last.  You can redeem this on line direct through my website or at one of my classes.

Today I'm showing you an example of one of the free sets you can earn with Sale-A-Bration - this one is called Avant-Garden.  I just love the flowers in this set - and the sentiments are so lovely also.  It has some great background images too which I've used on another card which will be shown soon in a blog hop.

If you want to check out the Sale-A-Bration catalogue on line - click on the link below

 http://su-media.s3.amazonaws.com/media/catalogs/Sale-A-Bration_2017/SAB_2017_EU-Eng.pdf

But for today - here's the card I've made using some Designer Series Paper - Blooms and Bliss - one of my favourites.  I don't normally do "blues" I''m normally a green and red kind of girl but I do love the blues and the browns in this set.

I've also used the Stitched Framelits - aren't they so versatile.  And also our new Watercolour pencils - I've still got the old set of Stampin Up Watercolour pencils from years ago BUT our new ones are in our SU colours which is just fab!  A touch of Burlap and Lace Ribbon finishes off the card.  The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts.

If you are local to me in the Andover Hampshire area and would like to come and play with Stampin' Up! Products I run weekly and monthly classes at my home.

All details are on my Stampin' Up! website or here on my blog.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

I'm going to be sad to say goodbye to some of the lovely Christmas/Holiday stamp sets we have had this year - I do hope some of them continue into next year.  My favourites this year were the Mice, never thought I'd say that, Merriest Wishes and the Merry Tag Framelits and Christmas Magic. I'd love to know what yours were.

I've done a slightly different tutorial on my Youtube Channel today wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas from me.  A big thank you to those of you who have subscribed and left encouraging comments - they are truly appreciated.

Looking forward to 2017 though I can't wait to start playing with some of the new sets - it will be no surprise which two will be my favourites as I'll be using them lots in the upcoming months. And with Sale-abration on the way there is going to be lots to keep us crafting.

For now though I'm going to sign off until after the big day as I'm going to be busy with the family.

I'd like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and every good wish for 2017.

SIMPLY SKETCHED SATURDAY CHALLENGE - BEAUTIFUL YOU SNEAK PEEK

Welcome to another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge - our last for 2016.

Our sketch by the very talented Amanda Charlesworth was a tricky one this month.  Here's an example of her sketch by Amanda herself.

No automatic alt text available.

I've been naughty and used one of the up and coming new sets from the 2017 Spring Catalogue.  This is going to be such a well loved set and is called Beautiful You.  It has wonderful images and some lovely word stamps also.

There is also something special about the way this image was coloured but.... you will have to wait until January til I reveal what I used!!!!

I've also used the Botanical Builder Framelits with this card just to show we can still love our old products.

The flower has a touch of our bronze thread behind it and uses some of the Blooms and Bliss Designer Paper.

NO-GLUE ACETATE BOX - CANDY CANE LANE

Blogging has taken a back seat lately as my daughter was poorly and had to have emergency surgery. Thankfully she's on the mend and I can get back to the business of crafting.

I managed to do a YouTube tutorial today - its been a while since I've done one and it was like starting afresh again - lots of mistakes - and at one point I'd done the whole project and realised I hadn't pressed play!

My little Acetate boxes were inspired by a candle box I'd bought at Sainsburys - it was much larger so I took it apart and resized it.  I'm so pleased how they turned out and the look great for gifting mascaras, lipsticks, Wink of Stella!!!!

On the 10" side score at 1/2", 1" and 2" - 1.2 cm, 2.5 cm, 5 cm
On the 6" side score at 1/2", 1", 1.5", 2.5", 3.5", 4.5", 5.5" -  1.2 cm, 2.5 cm, 6 cm. 9 cm, 11.5cm, 14.cm
