I don't often do Black and White cards but I was inspired by the photo challenge at Angie Mackenzie's Facebook Challenge Group Nature's INKspirations for this month. She gave the option of the photo in black and white or colour but I went for the black and white and added a touch of grey. I'm also including this in the Try It On Tuesday challenge which is asking for black and white and one colour.
I chose to use Dandelion Wishes for my card - I think it lends itself to monochrome cards. I used a heart framelit to cut out the heart and then used it as a stencil to ink in the heart. I used an old SU colour Going Gray - I've had it 15 years so far and it's still going.
I used some Dovecraft Pigment black ink to stamp the dandelions and the sentiment. I used some SU faceted gems just to add a bit of interest so it's not quite so flat. I then layered it onto grey card stock rather than black just to give it a softer look.
I'm also adding this into the Sweet Stampin Challenge blog who have asked us to use stencils.
We have a sketch for you today at Hand Stamped Sentiments. I'm sure your imaginations can run riot with this sketch.
I decided to use my new SU set Dandelion Wishes - this one was out of stock in the UK for a while so I've had a bit of a long wait but it was worth it. I'm sure it's going to be a firm favourite. I actually don't have any stamps that have any Get Well wishes on them so that's a plus.
I used a trio of SU inks for this card - Lemon Lime Twist (one of my favourites) Tempting Turquoise and Bermuda Bay - I think they go really well together. The background dots inked with Lemon Lime Twist are an old non SU stamp called Splatter Pattern - it's always come in useful as a background stamp! I bought it years ago when I lived in Houston. I added a touch of the Copper thread behind the sentiment and some non SU rhinestones.
We look forward to seeing your creations - do pop along and leave a message for the rest of the Design Team - we love to hear from you.
When I first saw the new Stampin Up catalogue there was really one one stamp set I had my heart on which was Dandelion Wishes. As it was out of stock for a while in the UK I've had to wait patiently but finally I get to play with it.
My card today uses this stamp set as well as another SU one called Fairy Celebration. I don't actually have this set but a fellow SU demo Jane Allmark who is part of my Joy of Sets Facebook group very kindly RAK'd me this gorgeous 3d Fairy she had made with this set and I really wanted to add her to the Dandelion Wishes.
Another SU demo friend Andrea Parr also very kindly RAK'd me some of the new SU papers and in particular I was drawn to this gorgeous one which I think is called Twinkle Twinkle. I decided to tear the paper and ink the edges with SU Night of Navy. I added a Pearlized Doily which was also gently inked with the Navy just to soften the colour.
I used Versamark to emboss the dandelions onto the card and used non SU silver powder. I used the Stitched Framelit dies to cut out the sentiment and silver embossed the sentiment and the flowers.
I'm adding this card into the following challenges:
Make My Monday - #75 - Fantasy
As You See It - Old is new again - paper tearing is definitely making a comeback
SUO Challenges - your favourite stamps
Addicted to Stamps - Anything Goes
Try Stampin On Tuesday - Tic Tac Toe - Tearing, Blue, Die Cut
