TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY - SKETCH CHALLENGE #406

This is our sketch for you at TSOT this week -

I used purple! It's not a colour I usually use but I had just bought some Elegant Eggplant card stock from SU and it was calling me to use it!  As it's such a bold colour I kept the rest of the stamping quite plain.  I used a retired SU set called Fresh Vintage - this is actually a wooden stamp set.  It's been a while since I used those too!  I thought I would never really get the hang of the clear stamps and using blocks but as most of us I know prefer it.

I used one of the stamps with Versamark to mark down the right hand side of the card stock.  I'm not sure if it shows up.  With a clear stamp that would have been easy but with a wooden one I had to get the Stamp-a-ma-Jig out of retirement also.

I used another retired product - to stamp the flower - this was a Spectrum Ink pad from SU in Fiesta colours - this has to be nearly 20 years old! but it still works and it gives you that mix of colours really easily.  I wish they would bring something similar back.

SUO CHALLENGE - SKETCH #SUOC221

We have a sketch for you today at SUO Challenge #SUOC221 and this one was designed by me.  I hope you can have fun with it.

I started off my card using an stamp from a retired SU set called Fresh Vintage - this is a wooden set.  I'm surprised how quickly I got used to working with cling stamps, photopolymer stamps and blocks - I really thought I would stick with the wood -but now sadly my old wooden blocks rarely get used.  I also used Timeless Textures as part of the background and I tried to use the same colours as the Die Cut Swirls.  These were a RAK so I wasn't exactly sure of the colours but I went with Pear Pizazz, Night of Navy and Bermuda Bay.  I added some retired SU satin ribbon behind the swirls and the sentiment is from another retired set Cottage Greetings.  I'm all about the old lol!

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY #391

We have a double challenge for you today at Try Stampin on Tuesday

Use the Technique of Mixing up your Fonts and/ or using the sketch.  I chose to try both.

I started off with some Whisper White card stock from SU and masked off a centre panel.  I then used two Tim Holtz Distress inks - Bundled Sage and Picked Raspberry and Soft Sky from SU and sponged them onto the white card.  The set I've used is an old retired SU set called Fresh Vintage which I haven't used in such a long time - it always seems strange now using wooden stamps instead of the cling or rubber - do you find that?  In fact in some ways it's much easier - I didn't need to hunt for a block.  I used Versamark to stamp the medallion type stamp and then used some of SU's copper embossing powder which really makes it stand out against the pale inks.

I actually cheated with mixing up my fonts and used another retired SU set called Yay You.  This sentiment was already in this set - all mixed up - all I did was cut it up into three different parts.  I added it to a piece of Soft Sky card stock which had been cut using a stitched framelit.  The little flowers are also from the same stamp set - I embossed them in the Bronze onto some dark red card stock and cut them out and added them with dimensionals.

I look forward to seeing how you interpret the challenge and whether you go for both options.
