PRETTY KITTY INSPIRATION

The Challenge over at TGIF Challenges this week is to take inspiration from one of the Design Team - what a great idea for a challenge.  My eye was drawn to this lovely basket of flowers by Ashley Van Camp.

I decided to go with the lovely little image of the cat in its flower pot from Stampin Up's Pretty Kitty set.  I kept the colours similar using Powder Pink Cardstock  but added a touch more greens and a bold Melon Mambo for the sentiment.  The ribbon is old SU.

I am also putting this into the Crafty Animals Challenge which is Anything Goes - as long as it has an animal on it I think I'm right in saying.

I am a sucker for cats - known by my family as a slightly mad Cat Lady I have recently taken on the job as a Volunteer Cat Fosterer for Andover Cat's Protection.  That basically means that I have two cat pens in my garden and cats that find themselves out of their homes for one reason or another come to me to look after them until a new home can be found.  So far it has taken about two weeks for new homes to be found but sadly I have an older cat with me that may be around for a while.  Her name is Scrumpy and she is 10 year old and slightly grumpy so she needs an understanding home.

I'm thinking of producing a lot of cat cards using this set to raise funds for the cats.

CHRISTMAS KITTY

In my quest to make as many Christmas cards as I can by joining in Challenges I was pleased to find Christmas Card Challenges - right up my street.  They gave us the following image for our inspiration which is cute animals.

I'm also adding this into the Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper challenge

Initially I was stumped as I didn't think I had any stamps that could work for this challenge but then I remembered Pretty Kitty and there is no reason why they couldn't be changed into Christmas Cats.  I've used some of the Merry Christmas Designer Paper from Stampin Up and the Joy is from Inkadinkadoo.  The swirl is from Season of Joy.

The ribbons in the kitties and the bauble in the sentiment have been given a bit of glitter with some Dazzling Diamonds and layered on to the stitched framelits.  I'm a member of our local Cat's Protection here in Hampshire and I am excited and extremely honoured to have been chosen as a Cat Foster.  That means that in January I will be looking after cats that need homes and fostering them until new homes can be found.  So this card is perfect for me at the moment because my life is all about the cats!

JOY OF SETS CHALLENGE BLOG - #JOS001 - THE LETTER 'F'

http://www.joyofsetschallenge.blogspot.com/

Back in March I started a Facebook Group called the Joy of Sets.  My intention was a place where people could showcase the lovely stamp sets of Stampin' Up! through the years be they current or retired.

I was overwhelmed with how popular this page became and, at the time of writing this, in just a few short months I have nearly 2,500 members.

I decided, in my madness, that it might be a good idea to take Joy of Sets out on the road so to speak so I've set up a Challenge Blog.  With the help of six very talented ladies as my first Design Team members we have started the Challenge Blog today, 4th July.  It will run fortnightly on a Tuesday.

The Challenge Blog is all about Stampin' Up! sets and each Challenge we will choose a letter of the alphabet.  The SU stamp set used must include that letter either in its first name or its second.  Full details are on the challenge blog.

With that in mind, our first challenge was the letter 'F' - no surprises there then.

I chose to use Foxy Friends as my set - actually using double 'F'!

I used some of the new Color Theory Designer Series Paper in the gorgeous Berry Burst and continued the colours through to the cardstock.  My foxy friend is actually a cat lol!  The sentiment is from Pretty Kitty.  I used the Stitched Framelits for the layering.  A touch of Glitter Enamel Dots and our new gorgeous Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon finishes off my card.

To join in with  the challenge and see what the other Design Team members have made for inspiration click on the image below.

JOY OF SETS FACEBOOK GROUP MONTHLY CHALLENGE - PRETTY KITTY

Over at my Facebook Group The Joy of Sets I run a monthly challenge which is Birthstones.  The birthstone for July is Ruby.  At the Joy of Sets we use current and retired Stampin' Up! products whether they are stamps, DSP, inks etc.

I've used an old SU ink here called Ruby Red for my ink.  I've used Painter's Palette and Pretty Kitty together which I think is a very cute combination.

I've used some of our new DSP Wood Textures as the background.

If you are on Facebook and would like to join in with my group -click on the link below.  In just over three months we have 2,500 members!!!

PRETTY KITTY - SUNDAY STAMPS SSC154

Blogging twice in one day- you can tell the weather is not so brilliant in the UK - not quite a lovely summery June day. A perfect excuse to do some crafting....not that I need an excuse.

I'm playing along with Sunday Stamps which has a sketch challenge for us:

I thought I'd use the sad little kitty from Pretty Kitty - you never know when you need such a card in your stash!

I added a strip of the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper and wrapped some Linen Thread around it to match the wool in the image.

The kitty image was coloured in with Watercolor Pencils and layered onto stitched Framelits in Whisper White and Night of Navy.  The sentiment was inked in Night of Navy.  The little hearts were from the Everyday Jars Framelits.  If life is messy you need some love, hence the hearts.

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE #121 - "ANYTHING GOES" CHALLENGE

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

It's a free for all Challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday this week - anything you like - we'd love to see it!

I've chosen to use the lovely Pretty Kitty set - this is such a lovely set for colouring and although it's not new to the catalogue its new to me so I'm still in that Honeymoon stage with this set.  I used some now sadly retiring DSP as the background and Island Indigo as the cardstock.  Stitched Framelits also got a look in here.  The Watercolour Pencils are great at colouring in these little kitties.

This is a great single Fun Fold card and always gives a bit of that Wow factor.

Come along and join us and let us see your creations.  Pop over to the rest of the Design Team and see what they have for you.

#WWC120 - GAIL'S CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE

Click on the image below to be taken to this week's Challenge

Image may contain: cat and text

I know - I bet that surprised you all - Christmas in May!  But it's never too early to make a start on those Christmas cards, right?

I've thought a little outside the box for my card this week - using Pretty Kitty Stamp Set for the cute little cats, Foxy Friends for the lovely Trees, Sweet Home for the little banner and Banner's For Christmas for the Christmas word.

I must admit it does feel strange making Christmas Cards when the weather is lovely and warm outside - reminds me of being back in Houston when we used to live there - our weather there was so different from the UK!

I'm looking forward to seeing all your Christmas cards.  Just think if we all made a few a month it would take all that pressure off come December!

POOTLER'S BIRTHDAY BLOG - PRETTY KITTY

 http://pootles.co.uk/2017/05/14/birthday-blog-hop-errors-fixed/

May is my birthday month so I get to join in with the Pootle's Birthday blog hop run by Sam Hammond Donald who is my upline.

I've chosen to use Pretty Kitty again for my card but this time it is a magic card.  I first saw this done a while ago by Dawn Griffith whose projects I love.

I showed the card to hubby who said "where's the magic?"  I had to actually point out to him that in card no 1 above the picture is in black and white - when you pull it out it is in colour. There's the Magic.

Pretty Kitty is such a great set - really lovely to colour in. If you don't have your copy yet click on the image below to be taken to my store.

I hope you have a go at making one - do pop back and let me know if you do.

PRETTY KITTY - CAS COLOURS AND SKETCHES #221

Another one of my favourite sets is Pretty Kitty - I just really enjoy colouring the images in, even though they are not huge they are very satisfying to colour.

The challenge over at CAS colours and sketches #221 today is a colour challenge

I have difficulty doing the CAS so I do challenge myself to join in and see if I can restrain myself from adding too much and leaving a lot of white space.

So I've kept a lot of white space at the top.  I've used Stitched Framelits to layer the kitty image and used the Melon Mambo as the background pop of colour and also in the sentiment.  The flowers are coloured with the remaining colours.  The kitty I have left white but have used Wink of Stella over it to make it shine.  Some Wild Wasabi Enamel shapes finish off the card and then I had to walk away lol!

PRETTY KITTY - GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #GDP084

Pretty Kitty isn't a new set - but its new to me and I'm absolutely loving it.  I wasn't sure at first when I saw it but I just love colouring in the little kitties - they remind me of the cats from the Disney Aristocats - one of my favourites when I was growing up.  I'm so pleased that its continuing another year so I'll get lots of fun out of it.

The challenge over at Global Design Project is CASEing the Designer who is Michelle Last.  I am lucky enough to have Michelle as my upline's upline and to be part of her Pinkies team.  Here's her card for us to have a play with:

She did birds I did cats - never the twain shall meet!!! A bit of a poignant card for me really because my daughter has had one of her cats go missing.  He's a six year old chocolate Burmese and she's only had him less than a year as he was a rescue - he has a liver condition and he's been missing for nearly a week now and time seems to be running out for finding him.

I used the Stampin Write markers in the 2016/17 colours to colour in the flowers.  The Kitty was coloured in with our Watercolour pencils and a blender pen.  The Pot is coloured in with Pacific Point ink and the blender pen.  The little flowers have some basic rhinestones on them and of course a splash of Wink of Stella over the pot and the cat.

I took part of the saying and inked it with Pacific Point ink and left the last word off and add some dots.  The Thank You is from Thankful Thoughts.

I wrapped some of the Copper Metallic Thread around the card - just to finish it off.

Just in case you haven't seen all of this cute set -if you wish to purchase click on the image below
