THE MALE ROOM - CATS AND/OR DOGS

Welcome back to another challenge - our 200th challenge at The Male Room.  We are asking for your dogs and or cat cards this month.

I chose to use my trusty Tim Holtz Snarky cats again.  The background was made with a gel press and one of Tim's very old stencils. It's almost falling apart I've used it that much.  I used some cog die cuts to sit behind the cat and used a couple of the sentiments from the set.  I added some washi tape and some background stamping.

DARING CARDMAKERS - MAKE IT SHAKE

The challenge this week at Daring Cardmakers is to make it shake.  This is my final week of the month as Guest Designer and it's been great fun.

I'm not a great fan of shaker cards as I find them so tricky but did fancy doing a wobbly card. The background was made on a gel press with some background stamping.  I used a TH stencil for the pattern behind the cat.

I've used one of Tim Holtz snarky cats and double stamped him adding a wobbler just simply made of paper.  I added some googly eyes for extra wobble. I also added some glossy accents to the balloon and his tie.

I'm adding this into the following:

Alphabet Challenge - M is for masculine
Crafty Catz - AG plus stencil
Creative Friday - Animals
Simon Says Stamp - AG Wednesday
Make My Monday - own background

THE MALE ROOM - #182 - FUNNY/PUN

Happy New Year - wow 2024!  Let's hope the year bring you everything you hope for and lots of lovely crafting ideas.

Welcome to The Male Room.  We start our year's challenge off with a fun theme.   I've used one of Tim Holtz's Snarky Cats for my card.  The background was made with a gel press on some water colour paper and then I added a stencil on top  The colours I used for the background were Iced Spruce, Evergreen Bough, Salvaged Patina and a touch of Candied Apple Distress Oxide Inks.

THE MALE ROOM CHALLENGE - ANIMALS

Welcome to another challenge over at The Male Room with our theme of animals.  We have a menagerie here with two cats, one senior English Springer Spaniel and a whirling dervish of a Sprocker puppy aged 9 weeks.  Wow they take up a lot of time - luckily he still sleeps quite a bit during the day and has one of his beds by my feet in my craft room.  The old boy isn't too far from him but he's still not sure whether he likes him yet or not.  The cats are not happy so they were on my mind when I chose one of Tim Holtz's snarky cats for my card.

I started off by using a Tim Holtz stencil and added some Distress Oxide Ink in Frayed Burlap to give the idea of some of the spilt beer.  I cut out the cat and coloured him in with Distress Inks.  The little bottle is from another Snarky cat set - it should say milk but I changed the words a bit to go with the sentiment.

I added some extra background stamping and splatters to finish off the card.

I'm adding this into the following:

Crafty Animals - Include an animal
Alphabet Challenge - C is for Cat
Crazy for Cats - Cat theme

SNARKY CATS

One of my craft gifts was a set of Snarky Cats and stencils from Tim Holtz.  I'm joining in with the challenge over at Make My Monday - they've asked us to choose our favourite theme from last year - what a great challenge - I ended up doing two challenges in one - Friendship from September and Washi Tape from April.

I started my card off with the stencil that looked like string all tangled up.  I used three Distress Oxide Colours Peacock Feathers, Rusty Hinge and Saltwater Taffy to create the background.  I stamped the cat on top and coloured him in with some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and some Luminarte paint for his eyes.  There is a touch of Spectrum Noir glitter pen on the ball of wool and through the string.

I added some touches of Washi tape from Aallandcreate - I like to tear little bits off the tape and use it just here and there.  This tape had the same blues I'd used which was a bonus.

I added the quirky sentiment with Versafine Clair ink in Warm Breeze - now who should I give this card to? lol! It will most probably go as a RAK card on my Facebook Group the Joy of Sets.  RAK stands for Random Act of Kindness and we send cards we make out to each other -it's lovely as a crafter to receive as well as give.

I'm also adding this into the following:

Just Add Ink - Favourite - cats are my favourite animals
As you like it - favourite reason to send a card - as mentioned above as a RAK for my group members
The sisterhood of crafters - something new - my stamps and stencil
