USE YOUR STASH

I'm joining in with TGIF challenge #tgifc351  and their sketch which allows us to use up some scraps of paper.  I've also used an old Stampin Up stamp set  - I'm in a bid to use up all the craft supplies I have rather than buy any more for a while.  Seriously - I don't need any more stuff!  I had a great sort out yesterday - after the move I still had some crafting supplies to be sorted so yesterday was the great sort out.  Any old scrapbooking papers I cut up and added it to my stash for journaling - any quotes or pieces that could be made into embellishments also got cut up and added to my journaling stash.  It certainly made the pile of things never used a lot smaller and felt quite liberating.

Anyway I digress - on to the card I have created today.  I started with my favourite Stampin Up Embossing folder - ever!  Painted Texture 3d!  I added some Distress Ink to the folder and then spritzed it with water before running it through the folder - that adds a light touch of the ink whilst you emboss.  I used some Perennial Essence scraps I had found during my sort out - and layered them and added some Rik Rak and some Washi Tape.  I cut out the flower from Floral Essence three times and inked it in Fresh Fig and added a touch of Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink.  The flowers were inked in Versafine Clair Shady Lane and Crushed Olive.  The sentiment is from Tim Holtz.

STAMPIN UP ONLY CHALLENGE - SU260 - BIRTHDAYS

A great challenge today from SU Only Challenge which gives you free rein for Birthdays.

I pulled out Floral Essence for my bold and bright card - using just two of the flower stamps and some Melon Mambo - in full colour and stamped off for the two colours.  A touch of Chocolate Chip for the inside and Pear Pizazz for the leaves.  This was layered onto Pear Pizazz card stock and then Melon Mambo.  The banner is an old SU die cut.

There is a touch of Wink of Stella on some of the bigger flowers and a few pearls to finish off the card. #

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY #TSOT458

How is everybody doing?  As a crafter do you find during lock down you have been crafting more or just suffering from a lack of mojo. I asked this question recently in my Facebook Group The Joy of Sets and the answer was near enough 50/50.  A lot did say they are lacking mojo and challenge blogs are so great for this.  As a member of Design Teams it really helps me to keep motivated and I love to use old unloved stamps and bring them up to date.

A great sketch to work with today from Try Stampin On Tuesday.  How will you use our sketch?  I wanted to use the lovely little bicycle from Stampin Up's Winds of Change.  This set is retiring, which is why I bought it, but I think the sentiments are so great for our times at the moment.

I used some Lime Otter watercolour brushes to colour in the flowers and SU blender pens in Light Balmy Blue and Light Gray Granite for the bike itself. I looked through my stash of DSP pieces and found this lovely bright background - I trimmed off two pieces and turned them into banners and used the reverse side of the paper. I then found some Tim Holtz die cut leaves I had cut for another project and tucked them behind the stitched tag cut out.  The flower is from SU Floral Essences which I had lying around on my desk and I thought it went well with the colours.  I added it with a dimensional.  It's not the card I had in my head when I started out but it sort of evolved.  The sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo and is from the same set.  I added a touch of So Saffron twine at the bottom.

SWEET STAMPIN - BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL

Our theme is Bright and Cheerful over at Sweet Stampin this week - something we all need in the world at the present time.  A thank you card came to mind for all those who are working hard to keep us safe, keep us supplied with food and drink and all the other little things we take for granted.

I used a stamp from a retired SU set called Thankful Thoughts and used some SU ink to stamp it multiple times.  Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Tranquil Tide and Pacific Point.  I stamped the flowers from Floral Essence with Melon Mambo and used an aqua brush to colour them in adding the center piece in Crushed Curry and popped them up on dimensionals.  The leaves were stamped and coloured in with Tranquil Tide.

STAMPIN UP ONLY CHALLENGE - #SUOC241

We are going with florals for our theme over at SU Only Challenge this week.  A lovely thought that spring may be on it's way - but I'm not sure winter has finished with us yet!

I've used the lovely set Floral Essence for my card.  I started off by stamping the larger flower using a very old SU ink called Almost Amethyst.  I then layered this onto some Elegant Eggplant card stock.  I stamped the main flower in Elegant Eggplant and stamped it twice - cutting one of the flowers out and layering it on top with a dimensional.

I used Crushed Curry for the middle of the flower and Pear Pizazz for the leaves.  This was cut out with a stitched framelit and layered.  I added some old SU ribbon and a heart embellishment and added a touch of Wink of Stella to the bold flower. The sentiment from the same set was cut out with a retired banner die.  I used the die to cut out two parts - one in white for the sentiment and another in the purple card stock which can then be layered on top of the white. I mounted it all on to some Perfect Plum card stock.  All my card stock is retired but you could do use similar colours from the new colours in the recent catalogue.
