USE YOUR STASH

I'm joining in with TGIF challenge #tgifc351  and their sketch which allows us to use up some scraps of paper.  I've also used an old Stampin Up stamp set  - I'm in a bid to use up all the craft supplies I have rather than buy any more for a while.  Seriously - I don't need any more stuff!  I had a great sort out yesterday - after the move I still had some crafting supplies to be sorted so yesterday was the great sort out.  Any old scrapbooking papers I cut up and added it to my stash for journaling - any quotes or pieces that could be made into embellishments also got cut up and added to my journaling stash.  It certainly made the pile of things never used a lot smaller and felt quite liberating.

Anyway I digress - on to the card I have created today.  I started with my favourite Stampin Up Embossing folder - ever!  Painted Texture 3d!  I added some Distress Ink to the folder and then spritzed it with water before running it through the folder - that adds a light touch of the ink whilst you emboss.  I used some Perennial Essence scraps I had found during my sort out - and layered them and added some Rik Rak and some Washi Tape.  I cut out the flower from Floral Essence three times and inked it in Fresh Fig and added a touch of Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink.  The flowers were inked in Versafine Clair Shady Lane and Crushed Olive.  The sentiment is from Tim Holtz.

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY #TSOT446

                                                           Optional Theme - Flower Power

Our sketch over at TSOT this week has an optional theme of Flowers.  I used the cute little birds from Clearly Besotted's You're So Tweet II and as I needed a new home card this sentiment was perfect.  I used some of the SU Perennial Essence DSP as the background.  I used the die cut branch from Seasonal Thinlets and used some retired wood DSP from SU to have the birds look as though they are sitting on the branch.  The used an SU blender pen in Daffodil for the yellow shading on the birds.

STAMPIN UP ONLY CHALLENGE - #SUOC243

Welcome to another challenge at Stampin Up Only challenge which is all about Anything 3D!

I found a wonderful tutorial over at Splitcoaststampers for this gorgeous 3d Frame Display.  I turned it into a birthday card with a birthday greeting on the back and it was sent to one of my Birthday RAK members on my Joy of Sets Facebook Group. It received a great welcome and she said every time she looked at it she saw something different.  This would be a great piece for lots of occasions not just birthday and the more you do the more fun you seem to have.

I started off with some of the wonderful SU Perennial Essence DSP and some Powder Pink  card stock.  I used a framelits to cut out the shapes on the front of the DSP and used them for the inside of the piece.  I cut out some of the flowers from the DSP and added them to the front together with some butterflies and punched flowers.  You can really decorate this as much or as little as you want.  It folds flat so is great for mailing.

Here's a link to the SCS tutorial if you would like to have a go - let me know if you do I'd love to see it.

SUNDAY STAMPING

I have a few hours today to do a bit of stamping and stopped by the TGIF challenge #tgifc248 which this week is to be inspired by the new Stampin Up catalogues.

I do have a copy of both of these but as I am not a Demo I haven't actually bought anything - am I allowed to say I wasn't inspired (yes I'm hiding behind the desk lol).  However I fancied being up to the challenge to choose an image and maybe adapt it with some retired SU sets.  As you may know I run a Facebook Group for Stampin Up current and retired called The Joy of Sets and I'm all about still using your old stuff - especially if you are not a Demo and don't have the pressure to keep buying new.

Looking through my stash I found a stamp very similar to the card I wanted to CASE.  I used Nature's Perfection and what I take to be a hydrangea stamp which looks very similar to the Water Lily and the card I took my inspiration from Saleabration cover - top right square.

I've used some of the current Perennial Essence DSP which is my absolute favourite on to some purple card stock.  I stamped and cut out two of the flowers - stamping them in Island Indigo and colouring in with Bermuda Bay watercolour pencil.  I added some Bermuda Bay ribbon.  The sentiment is from another retired set Background Bits and I embossed it in white embossing powder on to some Melon Mambo card stock and cut it out with a stitched framelit.  The little border of hearts was a die cut from my stash.  I added a few pearls to the bottom.

I love how this turned out and it just goes to show you can still make use of your retired goodies.

STAMPIN UP ONLY CHALLENGE - DESIGNER'S CHOICE #SUOC239

We have free rein over at Stampin Up Only #SUOC239, challenge this week - and I've chosen to use SU Waterfront. As I've just started to cut up the lovely DSP Perennial Essence I used this as a background for my card and also for my choice of inks.

I used Blackberry Bliss for the mountains and Old Olive for the trees and the grass.  Basic Gray was used for the little house and some  retired Cameo Coral ink for the background.   The sentiment is from the same set and was stamped in Blackberry Bliss - I used a stitched framelit to cut it out and layered it onto some more of the DSP.  A heart gem was added together with some Wink of Stella on the mountains. I used a piece of Blackberry Bliss as the main cardstock.

FLORAL ESSENCE

It's a wet and windy day here in the UK and the summer seems long gone - although I do have some roses outside my window hanging on to show me their continued splendour.

My card today is for the Global Design Project #GDP210

I've used the very lovely Floral Essence Stamp Set and Perennial Essence DSP. My favourite SU papers for a very long time and I'm making sure I'm using them and not keeping them in their cover!  I actually used the pink side of the paper to stamp the images of the flowers and the leaves on - to keep that pink background going.  All the flowers and leaves were fussy cut out.  I used Old Olive ink for the leaves - and Blackberry Bliss and and Berry Burst for the flowers with a touch of More Mustard for the inside.  I then gave them a wash of Tri Spectrum Noir sparkle blender pen - curled their petals and popped some of them up on dimensionals.  The sentiment was cut out with the label banner framelit.

HAND STAMPED SENTIMENTS IC#322

Such a gorgeous colour palette for our colour challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments  this week. I hope you have fun playing with it as much as we did.

I chose to go with Stampin Up's Floral Essence and matching DSP Perennial Essence - Monet is one of my favourite artists and this paper just screams his water lilies.  And I really love the colour palette.

I used a piece of the DSP as the background against a Blackberry Bliss card stock.  The flower was first embossed with Copper Embossing Powder and watercoloured in with Blackberry Bliss ink with a touch of Daffodil Delight for the centre.  I then cut it out.  The Happy Birthday sentiment was gifted to me in a Stuffed Envelope swap we recently held on my Facebook Group The Joy of Sets.  The ribbon is old SU and the sequins were also gifted.

SUNNY DAYS

I'm joining in with the Global Design Project - it's been a while since I joined in with one of their challenges

I've used two Stampin Up sets for my card - one current and one retired.

I love that sun stamp from Kinda Eclectic.  It is so useful for lots of cards.  I've used Daffodil Delight to stamp it here and the leaves were stamped in Pear Pizazz.  I used the flowers from the current Floral Essences - they were actually inked back to front - one was Powder Pink and Daffodil Delight and the other was the other way round.  One is popped up on dimensionals and a touch of glitter rhinestone for the middle.  The butterfly is from butterfly thinlets and has been cut out of the matching DSP Perennial Essence.  The sentiment is inked in Pear Pizazz and I've used the matching card stock.

LATTICE FOLD CARD - FLORAL ESSENCES

I've had another play with this technique I've just found but this time I've paired it with the new Floral Essences and matching DSP from Stampin Up.

I used Perfect Plum for my base and cut out the lattice fold.  I added a piece of the DSP Perennial Essence and used the same paper to cut out the words from the retired Amazing You thinlets.  I added a piece of pink behind the cut out too to form a shadow.  I stamped the flower in Blackberry Bliss and used an aqua painter to colour it in in the same colour.  The leaves were cut out from teh same paper.  The little diamantes are from my stach.  I added some Spectrum Noir shimmer to the wording.

I'm adding this into Inkspirational challenge this week which is asking for Folds.

I'm also joining in with the Snippets Challenge #357 this week - I sure used some snips making that Lattice lol!

FLORAL ESSENCES

My card today has been inspired by two sketches  Global Design Project #GDP198 and #TGIFC220 sketch challenge

I've used the Floral Essence Stamp set by SU together with the matching DSP which is called Perennial Essence.  I stamped the flowers directly onto the DSP.  I stamped off the larger flower first with Blackberry Bliss then stamped the smaller one in Blackberry Bliss on top.  The flowers were inked with Tranquil Tide and coloured in with Tri Blend Spectrum Noir pen in Dull Green blend.  The sentiment was cut out with a stitched framelit and added to the reverse side of the paper.  I added a few sequins and some twine just to finish off the card.

HAND STAMPED SENTIMENTS - SC#317

I loved this sketch we got to work with over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week - I hope you enjoy using it too.

I've used some of this gorgeous new papers from Stampin Up called Perenial Essence.  When I first saw them being used by Jane Allmark an SU Demo I really thought they had been inked - the word Monet screamed at me so I just had to have them.  Here though I've opted to use the more muted side without the flowers - the added purple paper is from SU Tranquil Textures.  I was pleased to see that Dandelion Wishes is still current so as I hadn't used it in a while I felt it needed an inking.  I actually used a very old ink called Bravo Burgundy as I don't yet have Blackberry Bliss.  I sponged the edges of both the sentiment and the dandelion and added some rhinestones.
