Valentine's Card

I thought I'd share my Valentine's Card for hubby this year - quite safe as he never looks at my blog lol!  This will be our 40th Valentines together - my how the years do fly by.

I started off using the Gell print and Distress Ink in Crackling Campfire and Speckled Egg.  They made a lovely background which I'm going to do again.  I added the heart from Visible Image stamp set called From the Heart.  Using an embossing pen I embossed parts of the image in Crackling Campfire and Speckled Egg Glaze.  I added the little sentiment from Tim Holtz ideaology pack and some of Tim's velvet ribbon.

JOURNAL PAGE

My new obsession over the past few months has been journalling.  Inspired by Shawn Petite to actually think I could play with paint I've found it very helpful over the last six months during the frustration of a house move that just hasn't happened.  It has been such a help during sleepless nights to come and put something down on paper and I found it much more satisfying than just making cards.

I recently purchased some of Shawn Petite's stencils and when they arrived they had a lovely little card with them with this quote on it - I wanted to turn it into an art journal page and came up with this during a sleepless night.

The background has been made with a Tim Holtz stencil - one of my favourites the mosaic - and some textured paste.  I used Distress Inks for the background and various stencils and stamps from my stash.  

The heart stamp is one of my favourites from Visibile Image called Follow your Heart and I love using it not just for the obvious valentine's cards.    The heart beat, top right, and the little heart, bottom left, are also part of the same set. The heart in the middle was stamped onto tissue paper and added with some Matte Medium.  I cut out the words from Shawn's card and added them to the piece.

FOLLOW YOUR HEART

One of my new sets is Visible Image's Follow Your Heart.  I don't have many heart stamps and this one really called out to me.

I used some of the Lavinia smooth card stock for my base.  I stamped the heart in Versafine Clair Nocturne and then restamped it to make a mask.  I used an old SU stencil with the dots for the background and used Tim Holtz Distress ink in Squeezed Lemonade and Ripe Persimmon for the dots.  

I repeated these colours for the actual heart using an aqua brush.  I added some drops of Liquid Pearls in White Opal and added a sentiment from Anita Jeram stamps.

I made this card with the AAA Cards challenge in mind as they celebrate their 7th Birthday and thought this sentiment went so well - that's a great achievement in blog land to be going that long.
