Addicted to Stamps and More - Christmas

We are back celebrating Christmas at ATSM and this time I have a mixed media tag for you made mainly with Tim Holtz products.  The tag itself is a Tim Holtz Die as is the bird as are the background leaves, bow and letters.  The word Joy is from a very old Tim Holtz stamp set.

I started by making a mixed media background with Distress Inks and stamps.  I cut the top layer of the bird out of some old book pages and used Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and Festive Berries for the bird.  The letters were coloured with Festive Berries and Peeled Paint with a touch of Forest Moss.  I used a white gel pen to add some faux stitching around the edge of the tag.

TIME FOR TAGS

It's always time for tags in my world but now I'm making a start on my Christmas tags - some of my favourite things to  make.  Since I've been on the Design Team for Creative Expressions everything I make goes to them and I seem to make loads of stuff and have nothing here lol!  So while I have a bit of time I'm going to start making things I can keep and show straight away!

So Christmas Tags has to mean Tim Holtz stuff.  This tag started with the TH tag die cut using the large tag.  I then took a piece of green coloured paper and ran it through ann embossing folder called Cable Knit - I swooshed it with Walnut Stain to bring out the embossing.  I then cut out some of the TH Holiday Green mini dies and inked them with Evergreen Bough and Iced Spruce.  I added some Daler Rowney white paste and some Cosmic Shimmer white glitter when the paste was still wet.  The berries were coloured with a Posca pen.

The added pieces ore stamped from one of Tim's Christmas sets that comes with a stencil - called Vintage Holiday.  I added the deer from Darling Deer dies, some stickers from last year's Christmas sticker book and a touch of the velvet trim to the top.

HAND STAMPED SENTIMENTS #SC353

Our sketch this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a great one as I love to add tags to my cards.  I started off by using a Tim Holtz tag for my card and used various Distress Inks to crate the background.  I used an old stamp set with matching dies from Tim Holtz called Holiday Joy.  I used Peeled Paint Distress Inks to stamp the trees in the background and Pine Needles Distress for the cut out trees.  I stamped the Joy in Distress Ink Festive Berries and added some touches of white with a gel pen.

I used the same colours to create my background for the tag using some more Tim Holtz Stamps called Christmas Classic. I added some Tim Holtz Greenery thinlets at the bottom and a Tim Holtz bell which actually rings for the top of the tag.

SIMON SAYS STAMP - MONDAY CHALLENGE - PHOTO

The challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to use a photo on your project.

I had this great photo in my stash of Tim Holtz ephemera and wanted to use them to add to a Christmas tag.  I started off by colouring the pair with some distress ink.

I layered the tag with some Dina Wakley Gesso and then I added a layer of Tim Holtz Distress Texture paste - I dried it with a heat tool as I'm impatient. Once dry I went over it with some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide and Tumbled Glass distress ink.

I cut out some snowflake dies and then used the cut out piece as a stencil using Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Ink.  I added some stamped snowflakes also.  The large snowflake is a Tim Holtz one and I added some gesso to it - it had originally been cut out of silver mirror paper and was just too shiny for this project.  I used an old SU swirly die cut I had in my stash, covered it in gesso and then added some SU Dazzling Diamonds.

The two snowflakes on the side were cut out of paper and glittered and the snowflake on the left is a chip board - this was covered with a layer of Gesso and Dazzling Diamonds.  I did the same for the Joy word.  I added some liquid pearls to the frame.  The quotes are from Tim Holtz Idealogy Christmas pack.  The ribbons are from my stash.

JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - AUGUST 2020 - ALL ABOUT THE FONTS

Angie McKenzie who organises our Joy of Sets Blog Hops has a great challenge for us this month - all about Fonts.  I've been in a bit of a mixed media mood lately playing with lots of Tim Holtz goodies.  I've done a tag for our hop this month as Christmas is coming lol!  I know but it does get here quick and there's so much else to be doing I like to get my crafting done early.

I started off by covering my tag in some Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium - I then added some papers which were actually very old sheet music I had in my piano stool.  They were fraying and torn so I gave them a new lease of life.  I also used some free download collage papers from Shawn Petite including the green piece that looks like a clock.  I used a Tim Holtz wreath die to cut this out of the clock and added the bird on top.  He is a die from TH called Feathered Friends and I used some of the papers to make his body and wings.  I coloured him in maindly red as I love robins at any time of year.

The Peace letters are from the new TH Shadow collection - I coloured in some paper first with some TH Distress inks and then cut out the letters.  The Joy font is from TH Holiday stamps and the sentiment is from TH Idea-ology.  I used some SU suede ribbon and some burlap and thread I had in my stash for the top of the tag.

I don't have a sewing machine and probably couldn't even use it if I did so my stitching round the edge is done by ink - can't you tell lol!  There is also some Glossy Accents on the bird just to give him a bit of pop.
