JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP MARCH 2020 #JOSBLOGHOP

We are celebrating Spring in all its forms on our Joy of Sets Blog Hop this month.  March is a busy time for me with both my children having been born in March 11 days apart and my daughter's partner also has his birthday nestled inbetween.  Add to that that it's Mother's Day in the UK on the 22nd March which just also happens to be my son's birthday and it's a busy time indeed. Sadly since I wrote this we have also had a death in the family with my mother in law dying suddenly.  At age of 94 it was a grand age but sadly she never got to meet her great granddaughter.

Today I have chosen to do some spring Tags - maybe even to go on some Easter Eggs come Easter time.

The first one has been sponged with TIm Holtz Distress Inks in pastel spring colours.  The writing has been stamped from Stampin Up's Background Bits.  The ephemera is from Tim Holtz as are the die cut snow drops.  The eggs are from Pink Ink Stamps.  The bird is from Stampin Up.

The second tag has slightly different colours - also first sponged with Distress Inks.  The feathers are from Stampin UP Feather Together.  The birds have been cut from SU DSP Bird Ballad.  The nest is from Pink Ink stamps as are the eggs.  The sentiment is from Kaisercraft.

PINK INK DESIGNS

I've had this set from Pink Ink Designs called Bird Sprite but haven't really used it much.  The bird stamp is rather large so suits a square card rather than my usual size.  There are some lovely additional stamps that go with it which I also need to ink up.  I decided today was the day and used some Copper Embossing powder from SU.  I used Spectrum Noir pens to colour the bird and the sprite in and added some sparkle to her wings.

I then used some Tim Holtz Distress Inks and a cloud stencil to make the background over the embossed image.  It didn't affect the colouring which was great.  The bird sentiment comes with the set - the It's Your Day is from Clearly Besotted.  I layered it onto some bronze card stock.

I'm adding this into the following challenges:

SWEET STAMPIN - CELEBRATING THE QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY

An unusual challenge for the Design Team and everyone over at Sweet Stampin this week as we give a nod to Queen Elizabeth's official birthday - her actual birthday is in April.

I thought right outside the box for this one as I don't have anything that is really royal but I do have this gorgeous new stamp from Pink Ink designs which I'm called my Fairy Princess - yes a very tenuous link to royalty.

This is a large stamp so needed a bigger card base than my normal size.  I inked it in black ink by Memento and then used my Tri Spectrum pens for the colouring.  The bee and the butterfly are from the same set as is the sentiment.  I added some Spectrum Noir sparkle to her wings to give them some shine and added a few sequins dotted about.
