JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - DECEMBER 2020 - CHRISTMAS MUSIC

It's been all change at Joy of Sets over the last month as I re-evaluate how the Facebook Group will proceed.  Personally I am using Stampin Up less and less in my crafting.  Although the group was originally set up as a SU group when I was a demo - it has evolved and we share all stamping companies.

However, I am aware that the majority of girls who join in with this Blog Hop are demos as is Angie McKenzie who does all the hard work in getting us organised.  So I approached Angie and asked her if she would like to take this on permanently as her own baby under her own banner - it seemed only fair.  She has agreed and from January you will be in the safe hands of Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop.

This then may be my last blog hop with the group and I love the theme that Angie chose for us for our last one this year - Christmas Music.

I wonder how many carols you can name in my card?  I'd love to see your guesses.

I started off by layering three Distress Inks, - Weathered Wood, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot for my background.  I then used the SU set Star of Light to add the star in Silver Embossing powder, together with the little stars.  The Angel and the Three Wise Men are from Tim Holtz - the angel was embossed in gold embossing powder.  I added the Silent Night from Tim Holtz Tiny Text Christmas and the background music stamp is also one of TH's.

I  make it at least nine carols - how many do you get?

JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - THANKFUL

Another Blog Hop from Joy of Sets Group organised by the wonderful Angie McKenzie who keeps us all in check.  Her choice this month is Thankful For You - I'm sure we all have so many people we are thankful for.  I am thankful for Angie as she has been a great support to me and my Facebook Group The Joy of Sets since we began three years ago.    She is a very busy lady but always finds time for others and although we live thousands of miles apart and may never meet in person - I'm glad we've got to know each other.

I started off my card with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and blended some Tim Holtz Distress inks to get the colour I wanted - I used Barn Door, Fired Brick, Rusty Hinge, Walnut Stain and Forest Moss. I added a Tim Holtz wood stencil over the top and then embossed it with the SU Winter Knit embossing folder.  I then used some SU thinlets to cut out my leaves.  I used an old piece of SU DSP with the wood effect for the background.

The middle piece is made with a Tim Holtz 3d Impresslit Provincial - I love the Impresslits - as they emboss and cut and leave you with a great 3d image.  I distressed mine with some TH Metallic Distress Crayons and a touch of Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I added some Metallic Distress to the leaves and layered them on the card.  The sentiment is from Stampin Up Country Home - stamped in Early Espresso.

JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - APRIL 2020 - BIRTHDAY FOLD

Thanks for joining us on another Joy of Sets Blog Hop organised by the fabulous Angie McKenzie. Our theme is Birthdays with the added interest of a different type of fold.  Once again I was inspired by the Queen of folded cards in my estimation Dawn Griffith and her pop out folded card.

I've used some of the lovely Magnolia Designer Series Paper coupled with Blushing Bride and Always Artichoke cardstock.  My Meerkats  from The Gang's All Meer are water coloured with SU water colour pencils.  I've added an extra one for the front which has been fussy cut out with some of the cacti.

The inside has a panel of the same DSP and another cute Meerkat.  I loved making this fold card and it was so easy to do following Dawn's instructions.

JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - SOMETHING NEW

We are blog hopping again at Joy of Sets - this will now be a monthly event on the 2nd Saturday of the month.  Members of my Joy of Sets Facebook Group will be joining together on the hop to show you some inspiration.  Last year we were organised by Andrea Parr from Crafty Little Things and my thanks to her for all her hard work - this year the reins have been taken over by Angie McKenzie and she has set up some fabulous themes for the year.

Our first one is I'm sure close to all our hearts after the Christmas period - Something New - I've chosen to go with some new products I got - some Tim Hotlz Distress Inks in colours I didn't have and a lovely new set from Visible Image stamps called Curious Cats.  This was a gift from my daughter who knows what a mad cat woman I am.  Visible Image stamps are also sponsoring Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe challenge this month - so why not come and join in there too -

I mixed together Dusty Concord, Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers for my back ground - using water colour paper and a Distress Sprayer.  I added the cat image in Hero Arts Intense black and coloured in the eyes with Mustard Seed. I added a few sequins and some Spectrum Noir sparkle in clear to give it a shine.
