JOY OF SETS TIC TAC TOE - DECEMBER 2020 - OUR FINAL FAREWELL

Hello all and I'm sorry to say this is our last Tic Tac Toe from Joy of Sets.  It's been a great two years but I feel it's time to say a fond farewell.  I'm very grateful to all the Design Team members we have had over the past two years - all the Guest Designers who joined in with us and all of those of you who played along.  Running a challenge blog takes up an enormous amount of time behind the scenes and I've found that with the year we've had something had to give and sadly this was one of them.

Here's our final grid - each of the Design Team members chose a square -

I chose Sparkle, Non Traditional and Snowflake for my tag.  All made with Tim Holtz products and inks - I used Antique Linen and Speckled Egg Distress Inks.  I used a Tim Holtz stencil for the boughs and used Crackle Texture paste to give it... well some texture!  The Snowflake is a TH dieand I coloured it in Spun Sugar and added some tiny pink jewels to the edges.

The deer are Tim Holtz - I love deer on cards at Christmas and here they are tucked behind some trees.  The bottom edging is a wonderful 3d embossing folder from TH which cuts as it embosses and I've coloured it in the Spun Sugar.  There is a touch of lace at the bottom and at the top of the tag - the sentiments are from TH.

Wishing you all a safe and peaceful 2021 - let's hope life gets back to normal very soon.

JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - MAY 2020 - FLORAL

Image may contain: possible text that says 'The Joy Of Sets MAY 2020 Floral Blog Hop'

Welcome to another Joy of Sets Blog Hop.  The Joy of Sets is a Facebook Group which I started nearly three years ago - we have nearly 3,000 members world wide and have lots of crafting things going on in our busy little group from RAK's to swaps to challenges to blog hops!  We are not all about Stampin Up and not all members are Demonstrators.  We celebrate all things paper and stamping!  See the blurb below if you would like to be part of our next blog hop!

Once again a big thank you to Angie Mckenzie who organises this hop for us and keeps us all on our toes.

I've used Kaisercraft Tea Party stamp set for my images.  The pretty flower on the cup matches the flower stamp that comes with the set.  There is also a tea pot but I ran out of room!

I used some retired SU DSP for the background with those cute spoons on them then added a stitched framelit, an SU doily and fussy cut out the flowers and the tea cup.  I've also added one of the SU gold sticker spoons. I must admit I'm not a sticker kind of girl but these were sent to me and this is the first time I've had chance to use them.  They were called Team Room copper vinyl stickers.

I used Tri Blends by Spectrum Noir to colour in the flowers.

And don't forget if you would like to be part of our next hop you will find my group The Joy of Sets on Facebook.  You have to be part of the group to be in the hop.  We are not all SU demonstrators and the hop is not really about showcasing SU but showing you inspiration from dedicated crafters.  Click on the link below to be taken to the group.  We have all sorts of fun things happening - not just monthly blog hops!

JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - FEBRUARY 2020 - LOVE IS IN THE AIR

Image may contain: possible text that says 'The Joy Of Sets FEBRUARY 2020 Love is in the Air Blog Hop'

Welcome to another month of the Joy of Sets Blog Hop.  You've landed on my blog Fiona Whitehead and I am the owner of The Joy of Sets - a Facebook group full of paper crafters who love to stamp and create beautiful things whether it is cards, 3d projects or scrapbooking.  Originally for Stampin Up both current and retired we now are open to all stamp companies.  There is lots going on within the group with swaps, RAK's, challenges, our own challenge blog as well as our blog hop organized for us by the fabulous Angie McKenzie.

Our theme for this hop is Love Is In The Air.  I've used a lovely rose stamp from Kaisercraft Rosabella stamp set.  I coloured it in with Derwent Metallic pencils and blended with a Derwent blender pen. I added a touch of Glossy Accents to the rose buds and some Tri Spectrum Sparkle pen for the large rose.

The sentiments are from SU's Amazing You.  I used the die cuts to cut out the You and Amazing from SU Lovely Lipstick foil and layered them onto white card stock.  I added some sequins to finish off the card and layered it all onto some Rich Razzleberry card stock.

JOY OF SETS TIC TAC TOE #JOSTTT014 - DESIGNED BY KAYLIN KRAWCZYK

Another month another great challenge for you from Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe designed by Kaylin Krawczyk.  I chose the vertical middle line - purple, embossing, oval.

The embossing folder is one I had in my stash which actually has this lovely oval in the middle and I don't think I've used it before. I used some of the retired SU Perfectly Plum for my embossing and sponged the edges with Elegant Eggplant.  As I was in a purple kind of mood it had to be the Lots of Lavender set stamped onto a stitched oval.  I used Perfectly Plum and Pear Pizazz ink together with Elegant Eggplant.  I added some purple sequins to one edge.

The ribbon and sentiment were gifted to me from a member of the Joy of Sets Facebook Group when we had an Stuffed Envelope swap last year.  Such fun and nice that I can re-use items I get.

We look forward to you joining in with us this month and if you want to be part of our great family over at Facebook click on the link below.

JOY OF SETS TIC TAC TOE #JOSTTT012

Wow - we are at number 12 in our Joy of Sets challenge - what a great year it has been. I want to thank all my Design Team members who have been with me all year and provided you all with some fabulous inspiration.  Our Challenge this month has been chosen by all of us - we all had a square each and I hope you enjoy joining in with us - hopefully you will be able to set aside a few moments to craft during this busy month.

My card uses the gorgeous set form Sunny Studios called Holiday Style - those bells really shine and they are just inks - greys and blacks. The bells are three step stamping and it is magical once you add the last black ink to see how they shine.  The Christmas branch is also from the same set and has been stamped in SU Old Olive, with some darker green down the middle of the branch and a touch of Tim Holtz Forest Moss sponged over the top.  I added some red and white ribbon to the bells and some red rhinestones.   The sentiment is from the same set.

Joy of Sets is my Facebook Group with members all over the world - we offer challenges, RAK's, birthday RAK's, swaps and all manner of fun things to get you crafting.  Why not come and join our group in the New Year?

I would like to wish everyone who has joined in with us a Very Merry Christmas and see you all in 2020.

I'm also adding this into the Time Out Challenge ~150 - Merry and Cheerful
Christmas At Sweet Stampin - Trees

JOY OF SETS BLOG HOP - TRI-FOLD CARDS

I'm delighted we are holding another Blog hop for the Joy of Sets Facebook Group. My thanks to Andrea Parr for once again organising us all - not easy when we are all over the world!  If you would like to join our Facebook Group click on the logo above.  Our theme is tri-fold cards and, as is usual with Joy of Sets, we allow all products to be used - although a lot of members are Stampin Up Demonstrators.

I went for a slightly different type of tri-fold with mine and it just sort of evolved as I was doing it.  I started off with some black card stock which is unusual for me.  I wanted to use the lovely Mosaic DSP from Stampin Up - I adore mosaics especially Roman ones and we have a gorgeous one in our local Iron Age Museum which dates back over 2,000 years.

I cut the piece of cardstock 10" x 5 " and scored at 4" and 7 3/4" - I still work in inches and always will!  On the left hand side piece I used the framelit from Colourful Seasons to cut out the edging and added some of the DSP layered onto Mint Macaron.  I added some pearls just to define the edge.

I used the butterfly framelit from SU Watercolour Wings for the butterfly and used the same DSP.  I actually cut half of the butterfly out of the black card stock and this is what helps to keep the card closed as the left hand tucks in behind the butterfly's wing.  The little butterflies were cut out with the framelit from That's the Tag.  The sentiment inside is from Kinda Eclectic and I used a retired butterfly punch to cut out a butterfly in the same DSP.

Have fun hopping around the blog and visiting all the wonderful projects - do stop by and say hello - we love to read your comments.  Why not join in with our next one and be part of the group?
