SUOC CHALLENGE - BIRTHDAYS

Our challenge this week at Stampin Up Only challenge is birthdays.  On my Facebook Group The Joy of Sets we have a birthday group - members add their names and addresses and look forward to gorgeous hand made cards from people they only have 'met' on line and who could be from any  part of the world - our members hail from the UK, US, Australia, New Zealand as well as many other parts of Europe and the rest of the world.  There is nothing more exciting than seeing a card pop through your door.  We also have a general RAK (Random Act of Kindness) group so you could be lucky and receive lots of cards.

So why am I telling you all this -mainly because I send out birthday cards for the group and with postage costs in the UK more expensive if the card has embellishments on it I'm learning ways to make one layer cards for posting.

My card today has used Dandelion Wishes - it's nice to put the Christmas stamps away for a while and rediscover old favourites.  With one layer in mind I masked off part of my white card stock.  I inked it up with Soft Suede and an old SU colour Really Rust using a sponge.  I then added one of the stamps from Timeless Textures - the little dot ones in Soft Suede.  The Dandelions were inked in Rich Razzleberry as well as the sentiment which is from Beautiful You.  Some enamel dots were added to the centre of the dandelions - I don't think these will cause too much problems with the post.  A touch of Wink of Stella on the ends of the dandelions gives the card a bit of sparkle.

I look forward to seeing all your ideas for Birthdays and seeing what sets you have used.

HAND STAMPED SENTIMENTS - SKETCH SC301

Another Sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments for you this week. I'm looking forward to seeing what you all do with this one.

I started out thinking about those circles and I had one example of the Swirly Bird cut out from Stampin Up in my stash that I decided I wanted to use and everything else followed on from there. This was in Dapper Denim.

I decided to keep my background card plain and use some of the new DSP from Stampin Up with the lovely circles on it in keeping with the circle cut out.  I stamped the image of the Dandelion from Dandelion Wishes in Fresh Fig and cut it out with a stitched framelit and layered it with dimensionals.  The sentiment is non SU.  I added a strip of the DSP at the top together with another piece of the Dapper Denim and added some faux stitching as well as around the card.  I finished it off with some gems.

LESS IS MORE

It's a sketch challenge over at Less is More #378 sketch #24.

The Challenge over at Addicted to Stamps is Anything Goes. #306

I chose to use my Stampin Up Dandelion Wishes card and really keep it CAS.  I used the stitched framelits to cut out the squares and inked the dandelions up in Pool Party.  I add the word cut out of glitter paper to the middle and added some Dazzling Diamonds to the dandelions.  And that's it.  Then I walked away before I started adding more to it!

DANDELION WISHES

My post the other day told of my daughter having to go through a major operation - thankfully the operation was successful though not without its complications.  I think one of the hardest things a parent has to do is see their child ill no matter how old they are.

My daughter was still on my mind I think when I made this card.  I'm loving the Stampin Up Dandelion Wishes - its such an ethereal image and I keep playing around with ideas for it.  This is a one layer card which is unusual for me.  I had a play with some new Watercolour Pastels which I bought for a real bargain.  I used three of the colours of out the 24 pack and they look very similar to SU Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Basic Grey.  I used my aqua brush to merge the colours and simply stamped the dandelions in black over the top.  I add the sentiment in Bermuda Bay and had some teal and yellow thread in my stash.  The added pearls are non SU.

I'm adding this into a few challenges :

TGIF - #tgifc170 - Repeat stamping
As you See It #181 - Obsession - I'm a bit obsessed with this stamp set!

LESS IS MORE

The challenge over at Less Is More is the following colour challenge

I'm sure you know what I'm going to say - yes I'm using Dandelion Wishes from Stampin Up again - it's my new set and I haven't got fed up of it yet!  I'm no longer an SU Demo so the sets I buy now are few and far between and will be those I want to have rather than things I think I need to sell.  The pressure is off!

I've kept the card relatively simple - I used Tim Holtz Bundled Sage Distress Ink for my olive background - the dandelions were inked with SU Tangerine Tango and some Dazzling Diamonds added to make them sparkle.  This was cut out with an SU Stitched Framelit and the background paper is new SU DSP. The colours don't look as orangey and green as they do in real life - my phone hasn't done a good job of taking this image sadly.

CASE THIS SKETCH

Another outing for this lovely Dandelion Wishes set - I knew it would be a favourite of mine. This time I've been playing along with Case This Sketch #CTS280

I used some Night of Navy cardstock as the dark matting.  The inks used are Crumb Cake and Soft Suede with some retired Crumb Cake ribbon.  The DSP is one of the new ones - I thought the little circles goes so well with the dandelions.  This is actual the only SU set I have that has get well wishes - I was sorely lacking in my stash for any sentiment like this.  A touch of Night of Navy dots finishes off the card.
