Our Challenge this week at SU Only Challenge is Celebrations.
My card uses Animal Outing - not a set I use very often but it does lend itself to new baby cards - this one was for my great niece who came into the world recently.
I've used some retired DSP from the Designer Series Pack - the pretty pink and the dots works so well with this card. I've cut a pearlised doily in half and added it to the back of the heart. A touch of retired Pink Powder Satin ribbon and some pearls add a delicate touchh.
When my children were little one of their favourite books was Old Bear by Jane Hissey. One of the animals in the book was a giraffe called Jolly Tall. As their Dad is 6'5" they used to love this tall giraffe and hubby's name is Jonathan so he often got called Jonny Tall! My card today is using the giraffe from Stampin Up's Animal Outing set.
The challenge over at Make My Monday #81 is animals so I'm adding this into their challenge.
I chose to use Orange and Grey cardstock for my card in keeping with the colours of a Giraffe. The circle was cut using the Stitched Framelits and layered with the Giraffe glued in between the layers so he doesn't show on the reverse of the card. I added the little branch with the frog on it. I used an embossing folder for the dots to represent the dots on a giraffe. The sentiment is from an old SU Set called Riveting and fits this card perfectly.
I received a Christening invite for my great niece and wanted to make a nice RSVP - I thought the Kangaroo from the Stampin Up Animal Outing would suit. As she is a girl Gigi I kept the colours pink - just because!
I cut out the little Kangaroo and coloured it in an old SU pink called Pretty in Pink and a touch of Early Espresso from the Watercolour Pencils. I used a Heart framelit as the background and edged it in the Pretty in Pink. I added a Pearlized Doily behind and used some SU DSP for the background. I love that spotty paper.
I dotted a few more hearts around - added some Powder Pink ribbon and some non SU pearls to finish off the card.
I then found out that the challenge over at Just Add Ink is to use the letter K!
I'm also adding this into the Stick It Down challenge for their Card Sketch which uses a Heart.
