JOY OF SETS TIC TAC TOE - JULY GRID #JOSTTT007 -

Our grid over at Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe challenge this month has been chosen by Laura Awsome Geffert.  Each month one of the Design Team gets to choose their own grid.  We had this fabulous choice this month :

I've used a Clearly Besotted stamp set here called Warm Solutions.  My dear mum really believed that a cup of tea solved everything so I knew I had to use this sentiment when I saw it in the set.  It has matching framelits too so the little cups were stamped and some of them cut out and added with dimensionals.  Some tea coloured paper and twine was added to the bottom - the little cut out of the tea bag came from Stampin Up's A Nice Cuppa.

We look forward to seeing what you do with this grid.  Don't forget we choose a winner each month who is invited to be Guest Designer for the following month.

JOY OF SETS TIC TAC TOE - MAY - #JOSTTT005

Wow - can you believe we are into another month already - May is my favourite month as it just so happens to be my birthday month!  And to celebrate I'm delighted that we are sponsored this month over at Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe by Concord and 9th who have very generously given us a $50 gift certificate for one lucky winner. I hope you will all join in.

Our Grid this month has been chosen by Susan Simpson and these were her choices:

A lovely spring set of themes to choose and I went with a lovely little stamp set from Clearly Besotted called You're So Tweet II.  I started off my card using a Scenic Clouds stencil from Inkylicious - I used some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink in Salty Ocean.  It's my first time using this stencil and I really liked how it came out.  I used the leaves from a bird stamp set I have - sorry I can't remember the name of it.

I then stamped the little birds in SU Basic Gray and cut them out.  I used Tri-Blend Spectrum Noir markers in Citrus to colour them in - one of my daughter's favourite songs when she was little was Yellow Bird - only it was sung in Welsh and was called Aderyn Melyn and this was in my head using these birds so they had to be yellow.  I hand drew the little musical notes and added some jewels bought from The Range.   The sentiment is also from the same set.

I look forward to seeing what you all do with this lovely grid - and good luck with the Competition.

MORE HIPPOS!

I'm really liking this little set from Clearly Besotted called Hello Cupcake - and I don't usually go for cute images but there's something about this one. Global Design Project has the following as its theme this week and I thought this set was just perfect.

I used the sunburst stamp from SU Kinda Eclectic in Daffodil Delight on plain white card stock.  I then added an extra layer of card cut out with the thinlet from Colourful Seasons.  I inked the hippos and used SU watercolour pencils to colour them in.  I used SU marker pens for the icing on the cupcakes and covered the top with Glossy Accents.  I then cut them all out and added them with dimensionals.  The little sentiment and the raspberries is from the same set.

TRY STAMPIN ON TUESDAY - SKETCH CHALLENGE #398

We have a sketch challenge for you over at Try Stampin on Tuesday #398 - with the added option of Monochromatic if you're feeling extra brave!

I had this stamp set from Clearly Besotted that I had yet to ink up.  It's not often that I have uninked stamps - I don't have hundreds and do tend to use them as soon as I get them but somehow this little one had yet to be used.  Cupcakes are not really my thing - especially as being gluten and dairy free I rarely get to eat them - but I just adored this little set and I thought it would be perfect for this sketch.

I used a Stitched Framelit for the circles and used SU Very Vanilla - the hippos were coloured in with SU water colour pencil in Grey.  The cupcakes were coloured in with my new Tri Blend spectrum pens from Spectrum Noir.  I'm still not sure about these - with three blending colours in one pen they are a bargain compared to Copics but I'm still unconvinced about the blending ability to see the three separate colours.  Maybe I need more practice.

The background papers were some from my stash from Docrafts - a really lovely selection that I will be using lots.  I added some ribbon at the bottom and a few little pearls.  I also added some Glossy Accents to the top icing on the cupcakes to make them shine.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you all do - thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment - I love to hear from you.

ALL ABOUT THE CATS

I found another new challenge site on my journey around blog land - this one is called Crazy for CAS  and they have a sketch for us to work with -

Now - when I first saw this site I must admit I thought it said crazy for Cats - which I am !!  So I think this influenced my card design!

I used some gorgeous papers I have in my stash from Do Crafts I think as the background piece  - I used the Fluffy Furball stamp set from Clearly Besotted. I stamped and cut out the little ginger cat and gave her a fish to drool over!  This was then added to a stitched framelit - a simple sentiment and some butterflies punched out of the same paper finishes off the card - I hope it's CAS enough.

Whilst I had this set out and I was clearly in a cat mood I decided to change the breed of cat to Siamese!  I cut each cat out (I think there is a matching framelit set but I don't have it) and coloured them in with SU watercolour pens.  I added some Glossy Accents to their eyes to really make them pop.  The background paper is from the same stack as the one above.  I added a bit of SU ribbon and the sentiment is from another Clearly Besotted set Thanks a Bouquet.  The button was from my stash.

I'm adding this one into the following challenges I've found recently:

SWEET STAMPIN - VALENTINES

We are celebrating Valentine's Day here at Sweet Stampin this week. I decided to go with something slightly different with a Triple Fold card.    I've used a couple of Stampin Up sets for this - the sentiment on the front of the card comes from a retired set from Stampin Up called In This World. The You Complete Me comes from Clearly Besotted.

The image of the couple is a very old SU set called Summer By The Sea.  I used the ink pads and a blender pen to colour in the images .  I've also used Timeless Textures to give a subtle background.  The lovely ribbon is very old SU.

I look forward to seeing all your entries - this is such a great theme and it's always nice to see how it is interpreted.

SWEET STAMPIN CHALLENGE - ANNIVERSARIES

Our challenge over at Sweet Stampin in this week is Anniversaries - I have a gorgeous little set I got from Clearly Besotted with these little umbrellas and a perfect sentiment for an anniversary.  Hubby and I will be celebrating 34 years married this year - where does the time go?  It makes me feel as old as my parents!

The set is called April Showers Again.  I used some SU Pool Party card stock for the base and Wild Wasabi for the umbrella.  The hearts are from a retired SU set called Yay You and one I haven't seen an awful lot done with .  There is some Spectrum Noir sparkle pen on the umbrella and the hearts to give it a bit of sparkle and a sparkle embellishment on top of the umbrella.  A little bit of twine finishes off the card.
