THE MALE ROOM #196 - MIXED MEDIA

It's time for another challenge at The Male Room and we want to see your Mixed Media cards this month.  This challenge is just perfect for me as I do love a bit of mixed media and regulars to my blog will know this is one of my favourite ways of playing with our hobby.

I started off by using a gel press to create my background and some Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Salvaged Patina and Victorian Velvet.  Once it was dry I white embossed one of Alison Bomber's stamp sets EAB30 for Paper Artsy Stamps and the William Shakespeare words from that set.  Why Shakespeare?  Well that will become clear when I tell you about the sentiment!

I also added some extra texture with some texture paste through a small leaf stencil by Creative Expressions.

The leaves are Tim Holtz Thinlets called Leaf Fragments. They were in my stash as the result of another play with the gel press and some Pixie Powder from Cosmic Shimmer.

I stamped a tree from Lavinia Stamps on the far left and attached the leaves. The sentiment is a quote from Shakespeare - it comes from a little pack of cards I found recently which I had bought about 20 years ago for hubby as he loves Shakespeare.  Each card has a quote and information on where that quote was used.  I think this one really suited the leaves falling off the trees. It is taken from Shakespeare's King Lear.

THE MALE ROOM CHALLENGE - #194 - JANUARY 2024 CAS

Happy New Year everyone and welcome back to our first challenge for 2025 at The Male Room.  Apologies for me still being in Christmas mode - I've been ill for nearly all of December and haven't been able to blog or add any projects so I'm still in a kind of Christmas mood hence my choice of card.
This is about as CAS as it gets for me as it's not a genre I'm comfortable with as I tend to much prefer throwing everything at my projects.

I let the lovely Christmas Tree from Tim Holtz Watercolour Trees be the star of the show with some gentle background stamping and shading.  The sentiment is one of my favourite Christmas sayings.

THE MALE ROOM - LEAVES

September has arrived and with it summer in the UK - we last had hot weather in June but this week we are back in 30 degree heat.  Just as we were all thinking of autumn!

Our challenge this week at The Male Room is Leaves.  One of my favourite things to add to creative projects and here I've used a lovely set by Tracy Evans.  Tracy doesn't retire her stamps and doesn't date them but this one came out in 2021.

I stamped and cut out some of the leaves and even found a very old leaf brad I had in my stash!

THE MALE ROOM CHALLENGE - SHAKER CARDS

Welcome back to another month's challenge at The Male Room and this month we are all about shaker cards.  I'm not sure if you are like me but I see the words Shaker Card and normally come out in a cold sweat lol!  I just never seem to have the right foam or use enough of it.  So imagine my delight when I found this tip on youtube ages ago to make a shaker card out of recyling the plastic that stamps come in.  It's a win win.

I started my background with a gel press to create the blues and browns of the background and added some stamping from Tracy Evans stamp set Pen and Ink. I used some of Tim Holtz letter dies for my shaker pieces and added a real feather behind for extra interest.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE MALE ROOM CHALLENGE

Happy New Year Everyone - I hope 2023 is a good year for you all.

We are back with a new challenge for  January for The Male Room Challenge.

I chose to use the lovely set Stargazers from Anita Jeram for my card.  I used Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Inks for my sky.  I stamped the image and masked it and used Bundled Sage Distress Oxide and Crushed Olive distress ink for the grass.  I left the little bunnies white.  I added extra details with some old grass stamps I have in my stash.   I used a star die to cut out the little stars and layered it on to some white glitter paper to have the stars shining through.
