SPECKLED EGG

I've been caught up with the excitement of Tim Holtz's new colour Speckled Egg.  I could only find a Distress Oxide ink to begin with but it's a start.

Someone on Facebook asked me for a tutorial - I didn't really take pictures as I was doing it as I was just going with the flow but here's a description of how I did it.

I started off with a piece of SU Very Vanilla for my background.  I added a soft brushing of the Speckled Egg first and then added some Tim Holtz's stencils - Splatter with a darker sponging of the ink and Faded Dots with Speckled Egg and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  I used a touch of Walnut Spray stain on the Faded Dots stencil and then added that to the background.

On a separate piece of paper I added some more Speckled Egg and Gathered Twigs and used the Wildflowers thinlets to cut out the flowers. From the same paper I cut out the Scribbly Butterflies - as I don't have the glaze I simply pushed the butterfly into my Versamark pad and covered it in clear glaze.  I layered it onto another butterfly cut out in brown card stock.

My SU trimmer is quickly running out of sharpness on the blades and as these are no longer available it is starting to rip my card - so I went with it and ripped the edges and then sponged them.

The sentiment is from Tim's Clippings Sticker Book and it was just perfect for this butterfly - I added some linen thread to a last piece of the sponged paper and added some pearls which I also coloured with a bit of the Speckled Egg ink.  I added it to some Very Vanilla card stock but sponged the edges first with the Speckled Egg as the background.

I'm adding this into the following challenges :

Creative Artiste Mixed Media #61 - Anything Goes
A Vintage Journey - Rustic
Moving Along with the Times - Things with Wings
Fusion Challenge - Butterfly
